A Few Years Ago in Canada...
Wade Wilson sat on the bed in his cell at the Weapon X compound wishing for death. Not because the experiments performed on him had failed, but because no one would tell him to his face(at least what remained of it) that something had gone wrong. He heard the sound of keys jingling and the door unbolting before it opened to reveal Dr. Killebrew standing before him, flanked by guards. "Wade," Killebrew began, "you're being transferred to a, uhm, lab on the other side of the compound. These men here," Killebrew motioned to the guards around him, "will be escorting you there."

Wade got up and went with the guards to this other lab and was dropped off with their security people before being shown to his cell. When he finally got to his cell, he realized what this place was. It was where failed experiments that lived were sent to die. It was the Dead Pool. As he got settled in, Wade began to wonder what his first task would be here, before falling asleep...

(OOC: This is the first in an ongoing series of flashbacks deatailing Deadpool's pre-game life. It's probably gonna get really violent as it goes on.)

Re: A Few Years Ago in Canada...
WARNING!!! The following post will have some degree of violence. It is not my intent to glorify or justify it, but it is an important part of the story. I hope no one is offended by this, and my apologies to any who might. By the way, thanks, Wolvie.

It had been two months since Wade had been deposited in the 'Dead Pool', and he had physically survived everything thrown at him. Mentally, he was in turmoil, constantly wishing his 'gift' would fail to work every time he was a test subject, or moving target. Today, he was a stationary target for a test on a prototype weapon that basically fired circular-saw blades at high speeds. He was spread eagled, strapped to a plastic surface, wearing a simple black bodysuit. The man testing the weapon fired once, missing Wade's underarm by mere inches. 'That was close,' Wade thought to himself, hoping the guy aims higher next time and hits his head with that thing. The next shot hit Wade's left leg, causing him to yelp in pain as the blade slammed into him. The third shot hit the strap holding his right arm in place. At first, Wade just let it hang down, not even realizing that he was partially free. The fourth shot re-focused his attention, as it slammed into his right thigh. At that moment, something inside Wade's head clicked and he ripped the saw blade out of his thigh and examined it briefly. He then looked at the man firing at him and noticed he had stopped and was looking at him, a shocked look on his face. Wade met the man's eyes and shouted, "Did you lose a few things, buddy?" As soon as he finished, he hurled the saw blade in his hand at the man, who snapped out of his shock just quick enough to dodge the incoming projectile. Wade pulled the one that had simply hit the table loose and chucked it at him next, using the time between his throw and whatever end result to pull the one that had freed his arm out and cut his right leg free. As he did, he noticed that his thigh was healed to a relative degree. Next on Wade's to do list was get his other arm free, which he quickly did. He noticed the man who had just been shooting at him was cowering on the floor, next to the obviously externally locked door. Wade threw the blade in his hand at the man's head and hit, making a non-issue in Wade's addled brain. Wade next pulled the saw blade out of his left leg and cut the strap that held it in place. Unprepared for the fact that he wasn't on the ground, Wade slid off the platform he had been strapped to. He let his left leg heal and then walked over to the corpse on the floor, looking over the gun in his hand. "Now, that looks very nice," Wade said out loud to the dead man. "Mind if I try it out? No? Great." Wade picked up the massive gun and looked around the room for any ways out. Wade finally noticed the control room that had emptied out when he turned on the man testing the weapon in his hands. Wade aimed and fired at the window three time, shattering the glass. "Now I gotta find a way up there," Wade said, thinking out loud. Wade walked back over to the dead soldier's body, and found nothing of use on him. He next went to the panel he had been strapped to and found a remote attatched to it's back. Wade used the remote, taking a few tries to figure out which button did what exactly, and managed to maneuver the platform to almost on the floor. He then jumped on and began to maneuver it to the shatterd window. once he was close enough, Wade jumped and grabbed the bottom of where the window had been, cutting his hands. He pulled himself up, despite the pain, and found himself in a control room. He walked over and found a map of the complex he was in and found one room that really sparked his interest: the armory.

Wade ran through the complex trying to make it to the armory before the good guns were handed out to people trying to stop him. Though he did kill a few of the security personal on his mad dash to the armory, he found the room still fully stocked, including a belt-fed mini-gun, which snatched up, along with the backpack to hold the ammo. He also picked two pistols and some extra clips for each and headed for the motor pool, knowing he wasn't in the 'Dead Pool'.

He managed to get to the motor pool quietly and quickly stole a jeep and drove out of the building, trying to remember his way back to his most recent 'home'. When he got there, rather than kick in the front door, Wade slipped around to the service entrance and made like a delivery boy, shooting the guard that opened the door to check the delivery. Wade was now in and on a mission. He stalked the corridors, surprised at the lack of security as he walked to the main lab. Wade looked at the door that was about as low-tech as doors came anymore and kicked it open, "Hey everybody, big smiles!" he shouted as he hefted the mini-gun and opened fire on the entire room, leaving 7 out of 25 still breathing and not losing huge amounts of blood. Wade dropped the spent mini-gun and drew one of the pistols, looking at who he had got with the monstrous gun. 'Too bad I couldn't carry both the mini-gun and the saw-gun at once,' Wade thought as he checked bodies. Suddenly, one of the doctors who was still alive shot Wade, briefly disintegrating his left ear. "Ow! That hurt, you little jerk," Wade yelled as he raised the pistol in his hand and shot the man. Within moments, his ear had grown back and Wade decided it was time to leave, a massacre in his wake.

Wade walked out the way he came in, leaving the mini-gun in the lab and simply disappeared into the night, not knowing where he was headed next...

Re: A Few Years Ago in Canada...
Nick Fury was not a happy man. He didn't like having to visit the Weapon X facility and had been very much against the new program, knowing full well the atrocities the original program had committed. He was met at the helipad by Assistant Director Brent Jackson, one of the two men with 'second-in-command' status at this little freakshow. "Where's Colcord?" Fury asked as he stepped out of the chopper that brought him from the SHIELD helicarrier.

Jackson went paler than normal for the briefest of instants before answering Fury's question. "Assitant Director Colcord is working with some of our more promising recruits at the moment, Colonel Fury."

"Good. 'Cause I gotta have a private chat with Sublime before I see your little presentation." Fury said as he pulled a cigar out of his coat and lit it. "Anyway, lead the way, Jackson. And I mean directly to Program Director John Sublime's office, no stops for nothing along the way, got it?"

"Yes, sir, Colonel Fury," Jackson said as he signaled to the guards waiting there with him to follow.

Jackson led him through various corridors until they got to Director Sublime's office. Fury walked in, leaving Jackson and the guards waiting outside. "So tell me something, Sublime. Is this a worse breakout than the last one you guys had here? I've already got men all over Canada and the States lookin' for your lost test subject, but you mind tellin' me how this has now happened twice in the history of the Weapon X program?" Fury asked, slamming his hands flat onto Sublime's desk.

Sublime barely flinched. Fury could be the most intimidating man in the world, but he was still just a man. Sublime cleared his throat before answering. "What happened this time was that the subject-"

"You mean Wade Wilson, right, Director?" Fury said, staring with his one good eye into Sublime's eyes.

"Yes, Wade Wilson. It appears that Mr Wilson had, uhm, broken out of his cell to observe a test with a weapon prototype. When he saw who was doing the test, he got mad, as it was someone he did'nt have the best relationship with and he went in to fight the man for the weapon," Sublime said.

"I see," Fury said, taking a long draw from his cigar. "Then after that, he went on a rampage through this building and your disciplinary facility, right?"

"Yes, that is correct, Colonel Fury." As Sublime finished, his phone rang. "If you'll excuse me, Colonel Fury, but I need to take this call."

"Of course, Director," Fury said.

Sublime kept the call short and looked back at Fury when he was done. "That was Assistant Director Colcord. He's ready for the presentation, unless you need any further information on the breakout, Colonel."

Fury looked at the man in the chair, almost certain that something was being glossed over. "No, that won't be necesarry, Director."

Twenty minutes later, Fury and Sublime were seated in an observation booth while Colcord walked each subject out. 'These are the best they've got?' Fury thought, noting that the only one with any promise he'd seen so far was an operative who could avoid all forms of detection, including being tracked by scent. Then Assistant Director Colcord came back out, his face unreadable through all the scars.

"Colonel Fury, Director Sublime, it is my pleasure to introduce the flagship operative of the Weapon X Project, Garrison Kane!" Colcord said as the metal doors behind him opened, revealing a shirtless yet muscular man standing there.

"What, is this supposed to impress me, Sublime?" Fury asked, intensely irritated.

"Just watch, Colonel. You might be surprised," Sublime said.

Colcord looked at the observation booth. "Mr. Kane here is a former mercernary who lost both arms and both legs five years ago in an explosion in Afghanistan. Using the research of the top roboticists, we were able to get Mr. Kane walkimg a year after he arrived here." Colcord looked at Kane before continuing. "Now, he can do so much more. Computer, initiate training program Garrison Kane 5."

Suddenly, robotic assailants appeared out of the floor and began to attack the young man. Fury was curious, but skeptical, though, until he saw Kane's arms go from normal to silver in a heartbeat. Kane fired his left hand at one of his assailants and fired an energy blast from the stump at another, obliterating both. Fury turned to Sublime, "I've seen enough. I want that kid leading the hunt for your missing test subject, understood?"

"Of course, Colonel Fury," Sublime began. "You do understand that he'll have to come back here from time to time for routine maintenence and upgrades, right?"

"Yeah, sure, whatever," Fury said, still amazed by the capabilities of the kid. "He leaves with me today, though. No two ways about it. We gotta deal, Sublime?"

"Of course, Colonel. We'll get him packed as soon as he leaves the practice chamber," Sublime said.

"Good. Have Jackson escort him and his gear to my chopper as soon in an hour, Sublime. Meantime, that's where I'll be if any of you need me." Fury walked out of the room and headed for his chopper. 'Well, looks like this trip wasn't a waste after all,' he thought as he left Sublime in the observation booth.

Re: A Few Years Ago in Canada...
(OOC: Drugs are bad, we all know this. Wade is, by no means a 'good guy'. That being said, sorry for the violence in this, everyone.)

A few weeks later, somewhere in Central America:

Wade sat in the back of a van with a bunch of armed men, all looking at his bandage-covered face. "There another way to wherever it is we're goin'?" Wade asked. "'Cause at this rate, I'm gonna hurl my Nachos bell Grande here pretty soon!" he added as the approached the gate. Wade got out last, and noticed a rather well-dressed man coming out of the house to greet him.

"Welcome," he said. "My associates tel me they owe you their lives for saving from an ambush earlier. Is this correct?"

"Sure is," Wade said simply.

"Well, then if you don't mind, I'd like to extend a job offer to you, provided you can perform one simple task for me," the man said.

"What've I got to do? Kill a guy? Kill a horse? Kill a guy on horseback?" Wade asked, hoping he was in the right ballpark. "'Cause I'll do it. But only if you tell me who you are, buddy. I don't work for no one who don't gimme a name," he said.

"Fair enough. I am Eduardo Escobado. You may have heard the American media call me a petty drug dealer," he said. "As for what I want you to do, you were correct, it does involcve killing. But it will be these three men who have betrayed my organization," Escobado said as three blindfolded men were led out into the daylight. Escobado took an AK-47 from one of his men and handed it to Wade. "You do know how to use one of these, correct?" he asked.

Wade took the rifle and gave it a once over, "Of course I know how to use one of these," he said as he aimed at the three men, setting the rifle to single fire. He fired three shots, each one hitting it's mark. Wade then walked over to the bodies and inspected each one. He handed the rifle to the guard and looked up at him, "The sighting on this is off by three inches to the left," he then walked back to Escobado and grabbed his hand. "You got yourself a deal, Eddie!" he said as he vigorously shook the man's hand. 'This oughta be a laugh riot,' Wade thought as he walked into the house.

Re: A Few Years Ago in Canada...
(WARNING!!!! Large amounts of violence ahead! Sorry to those I may have offended with any of these so far. By the way, if anyone catches the 'Firefly'/'Serenit' reference, you so rock!)

A year and a half later, Central America...

Wade was caught in the middle of a gang war. Escobado's forces were fighting a rather evenly matched war against a European arms dealer named simply Tolliver over the fact that Tolliver had supplied weapons to one Escobado's rivals. Tolliver hired some pretty decent fighters, but none that could heal any injury almost instantaneously or were near as crazy as Wade. The three he was currently fighting were quickly dispatched after a ten minute fight. One got a good look at everything behind him when Wade was done with him, while the eother two ended up with cartilidge from their noses in their brains, ~Wow, that actually works!~ Wade said to himself. He retreived his gun from across the room and holstered it be fore walking outside, only to find Jefe, Miguel, and Julio all standing with their backs to the bar they had all been enjoying a drink in fifteen minutes ago and facing about ten more of Tolliver's thugs, all of them flanking a man in a brown trench coat and matching fedora. "Holy crap in Indiana Jones' hat!" Wade exclaimed, looking at the man in the coat. "You must be Tolliver, the man who has been putting my boss through so much hell these past six months. Y'know, you must feel realllllly stupid right now," Wade said. "After all, do you realize how hot it is down here?!? You must be kickin' yourself for not showin' up here in a Hawaian shirt and Bermuda shorts right about now," Wade continued in his usually manner.

"You like the coat? I'll get you one just like it," the man in the coat said.

"What've I gotta do, Tolli-poo?" Wade asked as he reloaded the clip to his pistol.

"Just kill your friends and help me send your dead-beat boss a message." 'Tolli-poo' said.

"For just a coat? I don't think so. If you're gonna bribe me, offer me something nice like my pick of the cast of Party of Five. One to kill, one to keep, or something like that," Wade explained.

"What about money?" Tolliver asked.

"I'm already getting paid pretty good," Wade replied.

"How much?"

"Fifteen hundred American a day," Wade replied.

"How does ten thousand American a day sound?" Tolliver offered. "Plus, your own room in each of my houses," he added.

"Fifty grand a day plus my own room? In each of your houses? Tolli-poo, you gotta deal!" Wade said as he walked toward Tolliver's men, turning to shoot Jefe, Miguel, and Julio each in the head. "So, what kinda message are we gonna send Escobado, Boss?" Wade asked as he shook Tolliver's hand.

Mana, you got it. It occurred to me to do weeks ago, but I had to build it up a wee bit first. It hit me that for some reason, Deadpool was kept very well by Tolliver, so wheels began turning in my brain and the rest is posted. I don't really know why I added the part about giving him a room, the muse just kinda took control there.

To clarify, Mal, Zoe and Jayne are from the show 'Firefly' and it's coresponding film 'Serenity', the sci-fi western brain child of Joss Whedon. Give it try sometime, you just might like it...

Re: A Few Years Ago in Canada
Six and a half weeks later, Europe

Wade walked around his room in Tolliver's Swiss chalet. ~Now this is the life,~ he said to himself as he hooked his dual-scabbard apparatus onto his back. He was to be present at a meeting his new employer was having adn had been asked rather nicely not to be late. Wade took a look at himself in the mirror and the costume that Tolliver had bought him. "Man, do I look good. Even with my butt-ugly mug out in the open I look good in this," Wade remarked as he reached for his mask and slid it on over his head. In the six weeks or so since he had joined Tolliver, he had helped Tolliver bring down Escobado and had even 'recruited' a new tech guy for the boss. Buy went by the name of 'Weasel', and he made Wade feel something he'd never felt before. Wade wanted to kill the creep, slowly at that, but at the same time, he loved hanging out with the little geek. ~Plus the guy's letting me test some of his toys, like this image-inducer. Too bad it ain't smaller,~ Wade said to himself as he walked to Tolliver's board room, taking his place just behind Tolliver's chair.

The meeting was the usual boring crap and Wade only half-listened, if that much. What he did manage to pick up was that SHIELD was looking for him, and Tolliver had just had a business deal go south because a guy with metal arms showed up, looking for Wade. "You got a picture of this guy?" Wade asked the underling. The man slid Wade his camera and Wade looked through the saved pictures until he finally found the one he was looking for. "Kane? That you, you armless, legless freak?" Wade asked the image out loud, remembering his fellow Weapon X test subject. Wade then returned the underling his camera. "What'd he say?" Wade asked.

"Just that he was with SHIELD and Wade Wilson would soon be a grease spot," the underling stammered.

"I'm gonna be a grease spot?!?" Wade said in disbelief. "I'll show that tin man what a grease spot really is!" Wade hollared. He then looked to his employer, "Boss, I gotta take this guy down!" he said.

Tolliver smiled as his gaze met Wade's. "Of course. After all, he did ruin a rather expensive arms deal. Bring him to me, though. Or at least one of those arms of his," Tolliver said as he dismissed both Wade and the underling. Just as Wade reached the door, Tolliver signalled him and Wade nodded, pulling out a pistol and shooting the underling as he entered the hallway. "I'll call the housekeeper, Wade. You get to work," he said, shooing Wade along as he buzzed for the cleaning staff.
