A Mourning Cup of Coffee
Who: Vulcan
When: Morning, Sunday, May 14 2006
Where: Enroute

*Hack, Hack*

With the final cough, Gabriel managed to expell the last of the rabbit hairball he had accidentally eaten a week ago. In his honest opinion, a week of hairball was one week too many. Atleast now he knew how the Orphanage's old dog, Samuel, had felt. He had more respect for that old mutt for putting up with hairballs and the like daily.

Gabriel had been travelling hard for the pastmonth or so, toward this pull he had felt in his mind. Probably another extension of his abilities. He needed to rest for more than a couple hours in a trucker's cab during a ride. The hard travel was worth it. He was in New York, somewhere near Manhattan. Still, his eyes watered, he had come so close to his past, and lost it in a heart-beat. Now he had to find answers.

--Flashback, Two-Days Prior--

Gabriel sat in an internet lounge in South Carolina. He had veered South once the pull was gone. It had mysteriously disappeard the day after the rabbitt incident. Now he wanted to do a search on the web, to see if he could find anything about his father. He handed the cafe's attendant a couple bucks and asked for a cup of coffee.

The attendant left with a nod, and Gabriel retruned to looking at the screen of the computer. He reached into his right jacket pocket and pulled out a beaten up photo of a late twenties man and two younger boys. Flipping the photo over he read the small inscription on the back. "Christopher Summers and his two sons, Scott, and Alex." Gabriel smiled, somewhere he had family. And they weren't the devil and his horde that the nuns had tried to tell him they were.

Gabriel quickly sat the picture down near the key board and pulled up the internet. The attendant returned with his coffee. Gabriel opened up Google, and took a sip, burning his tongue on the hot black liquid. Ok, so coffee wasn't his thing, but neither were rabbits. Pushing the cup aside, Gabe typed in the search window "Christopher Summers" and waited.

In the blink of a nano eye, the google search produced 4,000 hits. One was a link to the "Christopher Martin Summer Home for the Elderly". The other two were junk that talked nothing about Christopher, just Summer resorts in the Carolinas area. The 10th one down, last on the page was what Gabriel was looking for, but he didn't like the headline.

"Plane Crash in Florida...." The short description under it had the highlighted name 'Christopher Summers', in it. Gabriel noticed his hands were shaking as he clicked the link. The Miami Herald website opened up to a news story about a plane crash. Gabriel read it with watering eyes as he found out that not just his father Chris, but one of his long-lost brothers, Scott, had been on the plane. Refusing to read on, he clicked a link at the bottom to Christopher Summers' obituary.

Gabriel read the story and felt a sense of dull pride for his father's life as a military man. He then clicked a link to Scott's obituary.

In it, he found that Scott had once attended a school known only as Xavier's School for the Gifted. No other information was given about the place. Gabriel narrowed his eyes, he would not be put out of the search that easily. He needed to find out if they knew where his other brother Alex was, and this School was his only lead.

Another search on google produced a phone listing for Xavier's School in the New York Yellow Pages. Gabriel printed the listing and then went to Mapquest. A short time later, he was on the road again, headed north.

--Present--

Gabriel looked in his pocket for the last 70 dollars he had. He was close, he could spend it now. Gabriel whistled for a cab, and got in. "Salem Center. Please. Greymalkin lane."

The cabbie nodded and sped off down the road.

OOC: This is gonna be the second and last post in this thread. I'll move gabriel to the mansion and have him join the others in the mansion thread. That way we don't gotta worry about people trying to find a way to be in that thread and then move to this one or anything.

The cab rolled to a stop at the turn-off to Greymalkin lane. The cabbie, a middle-aged Indian man, looked into the rear-view mirrow to watch Gabriel. "We are here now young man. Which address are you looking for?" The man's accent was overly Indian, almost fake sounding.

Gabriel had to force himself to look away from the side window, where he had been watching the houses and mansions pass. Never before had he seen anything like this place, atleast, not upclose in person like this. It was amazing. So amazing, that he almost forgot the address. "Umm... 14... 1407 Greymalkin please. The Xavier School."

The cabbie studied Gabriel for a little bit before driving on with a nod. He'd driven a few people to this school before, though he knew nothing about it, other than it was a private school. They mainly looked like investors of some kind. Nobody he'd ever seen in this area looked like Gabriel. This teenaged boy looked as though he hadn't bathed in about 2 weeks, and smelled like it to. Then there was the condition of his clothes, torn in a few places and covered in dirt and mud. If he hadn't given the guy money in advance, he wouldn't have even given him a ride.

"Very well young man. Coming right up."
