Allowed to talk abt Sims Online?
Binky, according to tobykat at N99, Maxis is not allowing any talk/mention abt TSO on any forums apart from their own. That's why on N99, whenever there's any mention of TSO, the thread becomes locked almost immediately.
I'd rather it be a suprise, but I love hearing things, anything about it.
Maxis, Maxis, they just want their money. but hey doesnt everybody!
Thanks for letting everyone know about it.

I have not read that anywhere. Not at Maxis, nor with the CD. Plus that message seems to be erased. Not sure, I will email Maxis and ask. Although, I don't see why. The more hype the more money people will spend.

Re: Allowed to talk abt Sims Online?
That is interesting. But I did not see the actual Maxis statement anywhere in the agreement or on the site. The email says not to, but I did not get the email. And apparantly, N99 threw caution to the winde, because they are talking about the test, bugs and such. Here is the section:
Re: Allowed to talk abt Sims Online?
In N99 we are being told to just keep it "general"- nothing that gives anything away.
*shrugs*
Personally, I'm not happy with TSO I want to throw it out the window.

Re: Allowed to talk abt Sims Online?
I am so confused about this hush hush thing. I did not read it anywhere. I search the Website. I search the disc pack. Nothing. Where did they find this information? I had no idea that I signed on to be quiet about this. ARghhhhhhhh, I pay enough for the games, etc. that I should be able to talk to the cats about this if I want to.
Well, I am just not gonna beta test anymore. I give up my beta testing rights in order to have freedom of speech
Re: Allowed to talk abt Sims Online?
I haven'T been able to PLAY it yet.
So I'm definitely not buying the full version. I try to avoid giving money to Maxis if I can, lol.
If you go to the agreements when you install it, it'S one of the thingies listed. That it stays INSIDE Maxis.
Personally, I think they just want hype.

Re: Allowed to talk abt Sims Online?
I really like some aspects of it. Like the ability to chat/meet people from the Sim community. I DON'T like the limited objects/skinns/walls/floors. I also don't like that I REALLY have to worry about money, work, etc.
I think it all depends on expectations. Some people will never get off and some people will try it for a while and lose interest.
Re: Allowed to talk abt Sims Online?
Yea, word on the street says you can't get any more skins than the ones that come with TSO..that's not good, the best part of the Sims for me is making and getting new outfits. I just can't be my true self in the game with a limited amount of fashions! arghhh! Oh well, I'm not dure if this is even true..
Hmm, too bad about the limited skins. When I heard that people got to make $ in TSO, the thought crossed my mind that skinners and object makers could have real "currency" in the game - meaning that designers can "sell" thier stuff to the rest on the Online community. Imagine a "Boutika" in the Sims Online community for example I'd pop by ever so often for a fashion fix.
Re: Fashion design as a money- making tool
I would *think* it would be a difficult thing to do. Because not only do YOU have to have that d/l but so does every other person who enters your property, and anybody that rooms with you.. and so on..

yep... which sucks, because that is what I like about the Sims... the dls.
Re: Fashion design as a money- making tool
Word on the street is correct--up to a point. Currently, the only skins available are the ones which come with TSO. I think you can do fancy programming to change what you see--I know this works with wallpapers and music, at least--but you'll be the only one who sees the good stuff.
However, they're promising that some time in the future custom content will be fully allowed--and it's this hope that keeps me playing TSO

Binkie, please do ask Maxis/TSO if they are really gonna allow people to upload user created skins and offer them "for sale" in their shops.
I'm really worried about that coz already at the moment, I see so many stuff being circulated at The Sims Exchange.

Yes, they will but only for use in TSO... so people cannot use them or steal them for the Sim community...
