Hey Amy! How are ya? I haven't been watching as much as in the past, mainly because of time. I have been watching Nashville Star, though. An old friend of my husband's is in the final 6...Nicole Jamrose. It's so strange to see someone you know, whom you have heard playing at the corner bar for the past 10+years singing on tv. It's surreal. Although I hope she wins, somehow, I think it will be one of the younger guys that wins.

yup I've been watching Though from the very beginning I was finding a lot of things that were bugging me, like WAY too many bad singers shown during the initial audtions. But I just think some of that was due to the what went down last season carrying over to this season. After a while though it was wore off and I was getting into it, enjoying my faves performing and all that.
Going into the semi-final round I had 4 people that I was rooting for, two guys and two girls. I developed this theory however, that I wouldn't reveal any of the people that I liked til they were vote-off the show since it seemed like my faves on reality shows (or just shows in general) were getting the boot too soon. This, of course, annoyed my sister who soo badly wanted to know who I was cheering for. Annoying siblings is always a good thing lol so I continued to keep my faves a secret.
Ok, my first girl that I was rooting for was Stevie since she was classically trained and that was something different. I thought there was potential there for her to do well. But then came the top 24 and she wasn't good at all so at least it wasn't a surprise to see her go.
All three of my other faves made it on the finals so I was excited about that.
My second girl was Lisa. I agree with you Amy, I too was very impressed with her given the fact that she's only 16. She just felt so down to earth and that is what I liked most about her. and she was SOO good in the semi-final round but she faltered big time in the finals. She had a lot more potential than what she showed. I wasn't surprised when she was the 3rd voted out of the 12.
So, now I was just down to my two guys. But Mandisa was starting to grow on me. and honestly she was the only female of the 4 who were left that didn't annoy me in one way or another. Kellie was fine at first but she just kept getting on my nerves more and more each week. Paris, though talented, is too over the top sometimes. Some of her performances have just been too old for her. and something about Kat bugs me too, I just can't really put my finger on it.
Mandisa was the best vocally but I think that she lost some steam in her last couple of performances. I actually thought that she would be in the bottom 3 the week that she got voted out so it didn't come at a complete surprise but I still thought that Bucky should have went that week instead of her though.
Now since Mandisa was gone, I was rooting for an all male final 4.
Last week though I really began to get pissed off at this show again. Everyone except miss Kellie was good, even Ace was quite a bit better than usual (and looked good in a suit, might I add ). Kellie was definitely far worse than the rest of the group so I figured that she'd at least get into the bottom 3. Before the show aired, I said that if Kellie wasn't in the bottom 3 I'd be pissed cause she had yet to be in the bottom 3 and she had at least a couple possibly deserving weeks and I also knew that she had the support of the votefortheworst.
Then they announce the bottom 3 and it's Ace, Paris and Chris ( ). Ace I expected, Paris wasn't completely unexpected, but Chris??? He always gets the most applause and IMO has been the most consistently good performer. So, why on earth was he in the bottom three and Kellie wasn't? I know that Kellie has a decent amount of fans but them combined with VOTR's votes had to have made a difference.
Ace was one of the guys that I was rooting for but even though I did like him, his vote-off isn't what pissed me off. just all of the rest of what happened. Honestly, I think Ace more so than anyone else on this show will benefit largely from getting to sing songs that are specifically written for his voice. AI song choice just wasn't his friend. I'm actually looking forward to hearing material that he will release in the future.
So, I'm now down to just one fave, a guy. and honestly if I didn't want to root for him, I might not even watch the rest of the season. But as long as he's still there I will.
Based on peformances thus far, I think that Chris and Taylor deserve to be in the final two. Whether or not I like either of them, they're the two people that have been the most consistent, IMO.

oh, wow. Laura that's pretty cool that someone you know was on Nashville Star. I can't even imagine the feeling of knowing someone like that who's on one of these shows.
well, sorry for the long post. I just had a lot to say I guess.
Long time no talk. I will have to admit that I wasn't really into AI anymore. In fact I hadn't watched since the Ruben/Clay season.
I had been there done that until one day I was surfin and I stopped. A bald headed man drew me in singing Fuel.
In fact, I never even tried to vote for AI before, I vote now LOL. I love his voice (not to mention he is hot but it's not about that LOL). I was a bit worried when they started getting into country etc but I think he has taken every theme they have thrown at him and done a great job!
Imagine my dismay when he was in the bottom 3 last week (my friend at work said she could hear me screaming NOOOOOOOOOO all the way at her house LOL). I was glad that it was Ace who went home only because it would have left me Chris-less. (Yes, I am addicted to Chris and I don't care who knows it LOL).
Now for the rest of the bunch. I do like the other guys. Taylor is very entertaining and Elliot has a good voice. And I think the fellas each bring something different to the competition. If it can't be Chris, I really hope one of the guys win. The ladies are ok *well except for Kellie, she really gets on my last nerve and has definately worn out her welcome* but I think that they are all something we have already seen in AI. I would like someone a little different to take it home this year.
Laura, that is so cool you know someone on Nashville Star. I must be kind of surreal to see someone you know on there. I wish her all the luck in the world

yup, Chris's performance of that Fuel song was incredible. I heard that Fuel actually said something about wanting him as their singer or something. I was wondering how he's do with the theme weeks but he has managed to make every theme work for him. You know I saw something yesterday about Chris where he said that he wouldn't have even tried out for AI if Bo hadn't done so well last season.
I feel your dismay Dawn about Chris in the bottom 3 last week. There's no possible way that he should have been in there. Even though I love Ace once it was down to him and Chris I knew it had to be Ace going. LOL about your friend saying she could hear you screaming. Chris has gotta be a shoe in for final 2, personally I'd say him and Taylor in the final two with Elliot third.

Amen, Sister. LOL but tonight she is G O N E and I say good riddance. and for some reason they had her give what I am referring to as a Thank You Speech. why oh why did she have to do that? they just wanted her to say something stupid again so everyone could laugh at her one last time.
but oh man when they had the two groups of 2 left tonight with one being Kellie and Paris and the other being Chris and Kat. I was like, Paris and Kellie had better be the bottom 2 or I'll be soo POed it's not even funny. Thankfully it was the right bottom 2. with Kellie gone this week and probably Paris next week but you never know.
I was saying to my sister earlier tonight that if I had picked the final 6, I would have had Mandisa instead of Paris and Ace instead of Kellie.

hehehe I think I said FINALLY when they said she was the one going home. I think they let her talk more then anyone who was booted...don't they usually sing. That's ok I didn't need to hear it anyway LOL. I couldn't believe some of the things she used to say.

hey Dawn was that you I heard screaming at around 9:30 eastern time this past wednesday night? LOL or maybe is was the who knows how many Chris fans around the country upset that he was the one voted off. Me and my sisters included. There's no way it should have been Chris. He should have been definite final 2 material that's for sure. After two weeks of obvious vote-offs with Kellie and Paris, I thought for sure that we'd have another one with Kat. Nothing against her personally but the girl didn't perform at the same level as the three guys did this past week. You have to be able to "bring it" at this point of the season and she didn't, it's as simple as that. And I didn't like the way that Ryan announced who was going home either. Everyone was all loud and stuff and he just says: "Chris you're going home." I think everyone had to take a step back and say ... wait a minute, did he just say what I think he said? I mean even Simon's jaw dropped, that's gotta say something.
Honestly I think that Kat's chances of winning are dead in the water since a lot of Chris fans are gonna be supporting either of the two guys. Since Kat is getting the blame for Chris going home too soon. Of course it isn't right to blame her cause she had no control over it.
I don't know about you all but for me when voting Chris's lines seemed to be always the hardest to get through on.
Honestly, the voting system is seriously flawed and tptb at AI really need to look into fixing it in some way. I mean we've had at least one of these "shocker" vote-offs every season now(or at least every season) and the fans get increasingly more and more pissed every time it happens. But the likelihood that something is gonna change is very slim and it's a shame. hey, I already think Survivor is a better reality show, if they wanna keep on giving more reasons to think that way then so be it.

That's my thoughts too. Some of it just has to be an act. Either that or she's lived in a bubble her whole life which is filled only with music.

yeah they usually don't say much of anything. She just kept talking and they just went with it. She probably sang afterwards but they thankfully cut her off before she got to that point.

Elliot has come such a long way in this competition. He's definitely benefited from the Idol Make-over that's for sure. I think his main problem early on was the confidence/charisma factor, his voice was always there IMO. Paula has come out and said that she thinks he should win now and I say that a very good arguement can be made to support that. He's worked so hard to improve his performances and to keep himself in the competition. I think that he'll get a lot of the votes from Chris's fans. I'll probably be voting for him as well, and if he leaves this week I'll vote for Taylor. I've never really been a fan of Kat's but I will admit that her second performance the week before last was incredible. She couldn't have made a better song choice, it was perfect for her. People seemed to forget about her first performance that night though which was far from perfect. and I didn't think that her performances from this past week were anywhere close.
well, yet another long AI post from me. I guess I just have a lot to say on the subject. LOL It's late now so I'll have to save my Dr. Mike postings for tomorrow.

you know after some thought maybe Chris is better off not winning (or finishing second for that matter) cause maybe he'll get a contract from some other label besides the AI people. I heard that they can be really restrictive with the albums that other top 2 finishers have put out. my sis told me that she heard that Bo (also a rocker like Chris) didn't get to do his album how he wanted it to be. I don't know how true that is but it wouldn't surprise me. So, maybe now Chris will be able to do an album that's more or what he wants to do. or who knows maybe he'll decide to join Fuel since they've made him an offer at least twice now to be their lead singer. Just like Ace, I'm so looking forward to any material that he puts out post Idol. Rock On Chris!! .
you know my sis downloaded the audio track of their Elvis medley from wednesday (she downloads a lot of AI audio and video clips). One thing good about just audio though is that you really listen to their vocals. Chris sounded so good on his solo part and Elliot and Taylor did too.
anyone gonna go to the Idol tour this year? It's coming to my city again but I don't think I want to go this year. I don't know I just am more into what type of new material my faves will release instead of just doing the same old Idol stuff.

I totally agree with you on this. After the shock wore off I thought everything happens for a reason. Chris wasn't meant to make an idol ablum...he is moving on to bigger and better things. I'm not sure I want him to become the lead singer for Fuel even though he can sing the heck out of hemorrage (sp?). I would really love to hear what he could do on his own or with his band Absent Element. I have heard a couple of their songs and they are great. No matter what he decides though I will be right here ready to listen LOL

I don't think it is coming here locally, I think I would have to go to Grand Rapids which is 3 hours away. I don't think I am going to go either...I would only be going to see Chris and who knows how many they would get to sing each...I will wait til he comes around by himself hehehe.

just about everyone that knew anything about what was going on with Idol commented about being shocked about Chris was going home. Kat definitely should have gone home that week.

yup me too and another thing since he didn't make top 2 he didn't have to sing one of those so corny Idol finalist singles. I didn't think either of those songs were good at all. Chris probably would have had a diff song (at least I'd hope he would've) but it still would have been something corny.

I don't know where she gets them from. she goes to the big idol related messageboard called IdolForums. I don't go there myself so I don't know the link. People just make clips from the episodes usually video but sometimes only audio and I'm guessing they have the links in IdolForums.
I went to the tour last year and I think that each of the finalist did 2 songs each (maybe 3 I don't remember) and then there was a group performance at the end. But it may be different with this group, I don't know.

yeah, I don't agree with all the song choices on their either. They probably picked the song they did for Chris cause it was one of his more mellow choices and they want the cd to appeal to as people as possible. Someone in my fam will probably get it so I'll just copy it from them. (shh, don't tell anyone ).

that's what I was hoping for too Amy. too bad it didn't happen. I wanted a guy to win SOOO bad that I spent the whole 4 hrs voting for Taylor after the final performances. and honestly if I didn't vote for the whole time I wouldn't have gotten much of anything in terms of votes. It was virtually impossible to get through in the first 3 hrs (the first 2 especially).

Those songs were awful weren't they. I couldn't image Chris singing either one of them. You'd hope they would have picked something different for him but I don't know. I think they just might have two songs for the finally and each contestant draws one out of a hat or something. I am really curious though to what songs Clive Davis and the judges would have choose for him to sing if he would have made it into the top 3. But I guess we will never know and I should just let it go LOL.
I only watched the finale to catch a glimpse of Chris. And he was looking as HOT as ever, if I may say. I thought he did an awesome job with Live!!
On a Chris sidenote: My girlfriend at work says to me that Chris reminded her of someone in certin shots....and I say to her oh yeah who....she says Billy Joel....I'm like WHAT??? He does not. YIKES!! What do you guys think....I think she is crazy LOL.
Was anyone else a little creeped out by Meatloaf? I usually like him ok but I thought he was awful. And did it look like Kat keep running from him LOL.
I was totally surprised to see Prince but I thought he was great!
All and all I thought the Finale was pretty good. It had some funny parts. That Clay Aiken wannabe was too funny.....and they crazy dancer dude...I thought he was gonna hurt someone LOL.

I couldn't imagine Chris singing either of those songs either. I have to think that they would have had a different song or if he had to sing one of those songs maybe he would have put a different spin on it. I was wondering what Clive and the judges would have picked for him too. though Clive didn't have the best song choices on a whole.

It was a pretty good finale on a whole. I loved Chris's performance with Live. The guys' medley was good too. Poor Kevin didn't really fit with the other 5 guys though, maybe it's because he's the only one under the age of 25. Chris was good in the medley (of course) but I thought that Ace and Elliott sounded good singing together. The girls' wasn't as good, in my opinion. One thing is that they did songs that have done before and it didn't feel original. Secondly, even though I'm not a fan of Kat, I thought there should have been more focus on her in the medley and there wasn't. Like Taylor got to come out playing his harmonica and stuff.
Meatloaf was creepy wasn't he. I wouldn't have blamed Kat if she ran as far as she could in the other direction. All the other contestant/guest performances were alright. The Burt Bacharach(sp?) medley was pretty good too. I thought that Lisa and Elliott were the best parts of that.
OMG, that Clay wannabe part was hilarious. That guy's reaction when he saw Clay there was priceless. Clay's hair was kinda weird but I won't go there. Crazy Dave was funny too. I still can't believe that they let him through to the Hollywood round. I was laughing at Kellie's food segments too. Honestly I'd have the same reaction to eating snails. Chris and Ace soo should have won the male bonding award though.

I liked Elliott and Ace too. I have to agree with you on the girls though I thought they did focus alot on Kat at the begining of the medley. Yeah Kevin was a bit out of place. It was funny to hear him sing What's new Pussycat LOL.
Totally agree on the male bonding thing but I had a feeling the cowboys were going to win cuz they spent so much time on their little segment. Yeah the Pickler and Puck stuff was pretty funny. I was cracking up when they brought out the live lobsters and she couldn't get away from them fast enough LOL
Yeah I begrungingly enjoyed the show LOL. Don't know if I will watch next season but this one was sure memorable.

Maybe I just didn't remember the girls' medley correctly. Probably what got me thinking that they didn't focus on Kat is when the split them up with Kat, Paris and Lisa on one side of the stage and Mandisa, Kellie and Melissa on the other side. I thought that Kat was grouped with two stronger girls and therefore didn't stand out so much while Mandisa was paired with two weaker ones and stood out more.
or maybe I just remember the guys' medley better cause of the who knows how many times that I've seen my sister watching it. lol
OMG, Kevin singing What's new Pussycat was priceless. i think i spent most of the time watching the girls in the background going up and down next to the piano and Kellie was getting such a kick out of it.

yeah and then they brought out the lobster that she was supposed to eat but she didn't even notice cause she couldn't stop looking at the live lobster.
keep an eye out for when they start showing the promos for next season. They actually showed Chris in the initial promos and I knew that I'd like him just from that and I believe they had Lisa too but I'm not sure on that one.

hey I was just listening to the radio today and guess's song I heard. It was Chris . I was like wait a minute, that's Chris. It was his song from the cd - Wanted Dead or Alive. It was so cool to hear him on the radio though.

yeah, it was awesome hearing Chris on the radio. I've heard the song a few other times since too. I don't think I can recall any of the Idol finalists from any season getting radio play like this, outside of the singles from the top 2 that is. I don't know if any of the others are getting any play anywhere else or on any other stations. Maybe they are, I don't know.
Speaking of Chris, I don't know if you all heard about this but he had a little appearance at the MTV movie awards last week. My sis had told me that he was gonna be there so I expecting him to be presenting or something but he was in one of the movie parodies that they do. Let me just tell you that it was hilarious! Totally unexpected.
I will for sure be getting a copy of his cd when he comes out with one too.

my local paper has been doing this contest all month where they put pictures of the finalists in the paper each day and you find them and put them on a game board and send it in when you get all of them. I think the grand prize is you get to go to the show and get backstage passes so that would be cool. my sisters and I have been doing this, hey maybe we'll win. there's probably tons of other people trying to win too though.

Though from the very beginning I was finding a lot of things that were bugging me, like WAY too many bad singers shown during the initial audtions. But I just think some of that was due to the what went down last season carrying over to this season. After a while though it was wore off and I was getting into it, enjoying my faves performing and all that.

). Kellie was definitely far worse than the rest of the group so I figured that she'd at least get into the bottom 3. Before the show aired, I said that if Kellie wasn't in the bottom 3 I'd be pissed cause she had yet to be in the bottom 3 and she had at least a couple possibly deserving weeks and I also knew that she had the support of the votefortheworst.
). Ace I expected, Paris wasn't completely unexpected, but Chris??? He always gets the most applause and IMO has been the most consistently good performer. So, why on earth was he in the bottom three and Kellie wasn't? I know that Kellie has a decent amount of fans but them combined with VOTR's votes had to have made a difference.
I REALLY had a lot to say.
LOL but tonight she is G O N E and I say good riddance. and for some reason they had her give what I am referring to as a Thank You Speech. why oh why did she have to do that? they just wanted her to say something stupid again so everyone could laugh at her one last time.

and another thing since he didn't make top 2 he didn't have to sing one of those so corny Idol finalist singles. I didn't think either of those songs were good at all. Chris probably would have had a diff song (at least I'd hope he would've) but it still would have been something corny.
