Apologetics
I would like to make my point that in Apologetics each time we use the scriptures we need to apply them correctly.

Throwing out to many verses to back up another verse or thought only becomes confusing. It is good that we try to understand why our opponent will use one verse over another for his defense.

Paul tells us to rightly divide the word of God. Now everyone will claim that they divide it correctly and the other guy doesn't. lol

When we use some scriptures to defend our position we need to make sure it doesn't say one thing on the surface and mean something else. This will happen and it happens because we did not take the time to study the verse. I'm guilty of this as well.

Lets take a look at what happened between Charles Spurgeon and his opponent. The debate was on Infant baptism.

In this debate they both agreed to use one verse at a time and then explain their position for or against Infant Baptism.

Charles opponent stood first and quoted Matthew 19:14 -- "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for such is the kingdom of heaven."

When his opponent sat down, Mr. Spurgeon rose and quoted his first text -- Job 1:1 -- "There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job."

"Mr. Spurgeon," his opponent said, "I fail to see what your verse has to do with infant baptism."

Mr. Spurgeon replied, "So, too, I fail to see what your verse has to do with infant baptism."

This is what I wanted to show in some of the verses that are used for arguments for Calvins or against Calvins or for Arminians or Against them.

This is a form of what is called burning straw dummies.

I rest my case.

Re: Apologetics
Matthew 19:14 -- "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for such is the kingdom of heaven."

Clearly this was trying to show that Christ was saying, let the kids come to me too, and he was trying to show this was a stance that a child should be baptised, if he comes to Christ.

Why Mr. Spurgeon failed to see how it had to do with the subject at hand I dunno... >? My question would have been... so then Jesus took them and baptized them right away, and it makes that clear He did so, in the word? Which then I'm sure he would come back with... well the hebrews "cut" infants, infact in eight days from birth and it would have gone on from there...

Job 1:1 -- "There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job."

I would have to say that Mr. Spurgeon was having a bit of fun... saying "without explanation of your view I have no idea what Matthew 19:14 has to do with the subject at hand..." sometimes I post verses myself without (A explanation.) taking it for granted others know I am taking it as face value... for what it says, without considering they might read it different then my face value. As for backing up the word, with the word, I think this is the meaning of dividing the word of God rightly... lol... see even on that verse, one view means one thing to one, and something to another... as for the Calvins vs Arminians debates... I don't myself know the Arminians or Calvins has a whole... but do know there are many different degrees of each, myself... as far as brotherhood, stand with both sides if they be in Christ... but don't think as a whole, I agree with either side.

To me... I believe that all are born into sin, and all have the chance for salvation... God by knowing the ending of each mans free will, declared the ones that chose light over darkness, to be His Election... "choice" and the others damned, without excuse. For what i understand the Arminians don't enclude all under sin... but like I say... haven't read there doctrine much bro... like I tell the mormons... I haven't finished the JW's doctrines... lol I don't myself think I could stand with any of their doctrines as a whole.

Well, John was against
it but I'm to tired to write any more about anything. I need to rest some. I had written all of these posts in such a short time. I was trying to produce some more thoughts and debates.

At least create some new blood in here.
