Associated Chassis Protection Sheet
Hi.

There used to be these nice sticky sheets you could put on the bottom of your car. Associated made them. Are they around still? Is there anything better?

for an off road car that you race at Leisure?

That's kind of weird Bob.

Why do it?

Re: Associated Chassis Protection Sheet
Maybe I don't undestand the leisure dirt, but I have all these unused battery slots in the bottom of the car, and when I run in my yard, I get moist dirt/lawn stuff on my electronics.

I have a roll of priority-mail stickers you could have :D Just keep adding layers when it starts wearing off.......

Over time it should help you meet minimum weight limits as well....

(I like to ask alot of questions.....)

Re: Associated Chassis Protection Sheet
I just looked at a photo of the xxx4. I never knew the battery area is beveled and there are slots cut through it.

Leisure's surface generally is moist and not dusty.

If it were me I'd just slap a length of duct tape under the batteries on the chassis if I didn't want anything coming thru that one open slot.

I guess I will live without it. The good thing is that (except for tires), I am ready to head to the track and work the bugs out of the car, hopefully the weekend coming up.

Stormer has it, and I'm sure Leisure can get it for you too. www.stormerhobbies.com/cg...on&smode=0

Also it's not so much about keeping stuff out of the chassis, as for keeping stuff out of the screws. That is unless you like digging packed dirt out of the screw heads. Also the teflon provides a lower friction surface compared to the chassis.

i have used a sheet of lexan before..you can get that at a hobby shop for less then $10...now-a-days i just put black tape over the screws and check it after each run and replace if i need to....roll of tape lasts forever and is only $2

Re: chassis protector
Rub a bar of soap in the screw slots. Cheap, easy, works great and, depending on the brand, smells good too! Jim

Re: chassis protector
That's a good tip about the soap, I guess. But then you still have to pick the soap out of the screw slots.

And as far as the cost of the sheet. People really should check out links and such before responding. Quite a bit of difference between $20 and $7 or $8.

J Concepts Teflon Chassis Protector Sheets, 6" x 13.25" (2) 6.95
2 for $7 isn't bad at all

Losi CHASSIS PROTECTOR SHEET 6-1/4" by 16" 7.95

I don't know about the new stuff, but the old Associated sheet could be peeled back and then reapplied for maintenance or repair a few times before it totally lost it's grip.

Re: chassis protector
A guy at a hobby store said the Losi one was just sticky lexan and not very great compared to the old associated stuff. I haven't seen any to know.

Re: chassis protector
The Associated one has been discontinued. I have used the Losi version and it seems like a good substitute. One thing to remember is that the chassis on the B4 and the T4 is angled on the sides and "protecting" that is a waste of the material. Just do the bottom flat portion and you will have enough for two applications(or two cars/trucks).
