BOARDINGHOUSE
ver at the official website of DVD company Code Red, it has been announced that the company will bring the cult horror Z-movie BOARDINGHOUSE to disc. Directed by Johnn Wintergate, this 1982 production is notorious as a shot-on-tape flick that somehow made it to big-screen release. Because of its age, the Code Red folks advise that “this will not look like today’s hi-def features, so please understand if it isn’t pristine. Also, since this was shot on video, it will be presented fullframe, which is how Wintergate wants it presented.”
BOARDINGHOUSE also stars the director (using the pseudonym “Hawk Adley”) as the owner of the titular domicile, which was once the site of horrible murders and is now plagued by a ghostly presence that slaughters sexy girls who move in. Extras will include an audio commentary by Wintergate and star Kalassu moderated by journalist Greg Goodsell, interviews with the duo by film historian Jeff McKay and more. In addition, the Code Red blog reports that a theatrical trailer has been added to its upcoming DVD of DEVIL TIMES FIVE (coming November 21), and THE FOREST (tentatively set for November 7) will now come with two audio commentaries; the track by director Don Jones and star Gary Kent will be joined by one with Jones and cinematographer Stuart Asbjornsen, who will be featured in an on-camera interview as well.

Re: BOARDINGHOUSE
From what I recall (and we're talking 15+ years ago), it was a rather trashy affair with the usual blood and T&A. I don't remember disliking it though so I'm hoping a nice DVD release will rekindle some love for it.

Re: BOARDINGHOUSE
I think that this was one of the films put to video through Paragon. The trailer was hilarious, but I was not really one to go for anything Direct-to-Video even then, so I can;t even rememebr if I caught this even for a surious viewing. To some, this was the start of the end, and the cult success of this and the fading away of the Grindhouses led to the glut of video productions. Even though I am not a fan of this, it would be interesting to see how this holds up today, and even know about it's history.
