Book reviews by Andranneth
I had the idea to share my thoughts on books that I have recently read, and hope that others might do the same. I always found that for finding good things to read suggestions always work best.

I may have the same taste as some of you, but even so my reviews may be of some use for you - either as a hint as to what to read or what not to read.

Title: Prelude to Foundation

Author: Isaac Asimov

Genre: Science Fiction Novel

This is the first book of a series. Actually, it is the one before the first book, since apparently it was written after "Foundation", which is the next one in the series. To make it short, I already ordered the next volume of the series.

The setting is a world in the far future, where Earth is no more than a legend of the distant past that no one really believes in anymore. Millions of inhabited planets for a gigantic empire, ruled by an emperor. The imagination in building this society - or actually a number of different societies that all co-exist - is astounding.

It is hard to say anything about the story itself without spoiling it for you, but I will try.

It is starting with one little seemingly unimportant character, a mathematician who has come up with a new exanded use of chaos theory. And whether it is accurate or not, true or not that he can predict the future, of course more than one person and group are interested in getting their hands on him. Because predictions can always be used in various ways to influence the future.

And of course - there is a big surprise in store at the end - that you might be able to anticipate if you pay a lot of attention to details during the reading. After all, I am giving you this hint now. ;)

re: review
Generally speaking, Andranneth is about 99.999% accurate when he says a book is high quality. Since he is also has good taste, and really doesn't like trash, if he says a book has already led him to order the next book in the series, it means it has some pretty darn solid content in it, and is entertaining.

After reading this review, I'm gonna go looking for this book! :D

Title:         Jedi Apprentice - The Rising Force
Jedi Apprentice - The Dark Rival

Author: Dave Wolverton
        Jude Watson

Genre: Science Fiction Novel

It's Star Wars, Jedi Apprentice. We learn how Obi-wan became Qui-Gon's apprentice, and later some details about the Xanatos event. For Star Ward fans these book offer some more detailed information about the extended universe, especially the Jedi Order, and it's a really easy read. Too simplistic for my taste (the whole of the two books got finished in one day, and without hurrying), but since they were obviously meant for children that's to be expected. Because of their short length and the simple writing style the books of course lack a bit of depth, but within the boundaries the authors do their best to do the characters justice.

All in all, they are realxing and fun to read.
