Creating a Character
The character creation process is simple. Just follow this template guide to Character Creation.
First fill in the basic character information. This consists of...
Name:
Age:
Element:
Height:
Weight:
Birthplace:
Birthday:
(Note: A character is not required to have an element. Birthplace can remain unknown in certain circumstances.)
Next type out the character's biography. The more detail into his background the better, it helps us to know the character better. I'd advise giving this section some serious thought before submitting anything.
Next type a detailed description of the character. Include clothes, and the more detail behind the descriptions thet better. If your character has gained an elemental form, include a seperate description for that.
Next comes your characters starting weapon skills. You have ten skill points to distribute amongst the weapon types at the start of the RP. Characters who join later on may be granted more points to start with. The following weapon types are available.
(Note: The weapon skills you pick will affect your starting stats.)
One-Handed Sword: There is a lot of variation in one-handed swords, and they range from rapiers to katanas. Stat increases vary depending on what type of sword your character uses at a particular time.
Two-Handed Sword: These swords are alot bigger than one-handed swords and require both hands to weild effectively. The advantage to this type of weapon is they have more power and slightly more range than other swords. The disadvantage is that they use both hands, meaning you cannot equip another weapon or shield.
Polearms/Staffs: These types of weapons have the most attacking range out of all the melee type weapons. Like the two-handed swords they take up both hands, but polearms have more range than swords and can be weilded with more skill and ease. The disadvantage is that they have slightly less power than a two-handed sword.
Gauntlets/Hand to Hand: If you opt for your character to become good with martial arts, you will get very good and varied stat increases, with the same power as any other bladed weapon. The downside is that attack range is smaller than other weapons.
Bow: A character that can use this weapon well will become very accurate with all kinds of attacks, and will be very useful to the party by attacking from a long range, out of harms way when it comes to melee attacks. The disadvantage is that attacking power will not be on the same level as most melee weapon types. When compared to the other long-range weapon types, arrows are much easier to buy than bullets or throwing weapons, and can be hand made. Requires both hands to use.
Knifes: These types of weapons are shorter than swords. Any weapon with a blade under 2 feet in length comes under this category. These weapons are light weight, and therefore do not hinder your footspeed or evasiveness as much as the larger weapons. With these weapons you get the power of a one handed sword, the only weakness is that the range is slightly shorter.
Gun: These weapons are very accurate and deadly when used properly. Most guns are also easy to use. The main disadvantage is that your characters physical strength will not improve as much if use this type of weapon, because gun based damage is mostly based of the weapon used and not the marksman. Advantages are that the weapon itself is very powerful, and the user will learn to be very accurate. Reloading is an issue, but depends on the gun used.
Throwing: Weapons like throwing knifes and throwing stars come under this weapon category. Users of this weapon type will learn to become fairly accurate, but not as much as the other long-range weapon types. Advantages include variability, and this weapon type is very good when combined with Knifes, since certain knifes can be thrown. Work this skill in tandem well and your melee character will be able to hold his/her own at range aswell. Main disadvantage is ammunition.
Mace/Axe/Hammer: Users of this variety of weapon will gain alot of physical strength, and when used effectively these weapons are virtually impossible to parry, range is also very good. Main disadvantage is that these weapons are slow and sluggish to wield, but are hard to avoid when going because of weight. A strong choice for a primarily melee character. Requires both hands to use.
(Note: All characters can use all types of weapons at will, to be more realistic. But the more skill points you have on a weapon the better techniques the character has with it, and the more skillful the character is with a weapon type.)
Next comes armor skill points, same proceedure applies, but this time you only have five points to distribute.
Types are as follows.
Robes: Armor made of cloth, leather and other such non-durable materials. Doesn't affect your speed at all, but doesn't offer much protection. The type of character that can evade most attacks are advised to use this type.
Light Armor: Slightly stronger than robes, and are made of a more durable material like wood or various metals. This type of armor is normally a single plate that protects a certain part of the body, like a breast plate. Only slightly affects your movements and offers more protection than robe types.
Medium Armor: Thicker and covers more of the body than light armors. These types are normally made to cover the entire torso, like a cuirass. Affects your speed abit, but protects against melee blows from most weapons. Arrows, bullets and heavier melee weapons can penetrate this with a good shot though.
Heavy Armor: The thickest type of armor, and offers great protection. Can cover most of the body, and deflect most blows from weaker weapons. Main disadvantage is that it's very heavy, and movement isn't easy in this type of armor. Mainly used for your heavy duty guys, who arn't bothered about speed too much.
Shields: A plate which attaches to the arm, good shield users are offered more protection, without much hinderence to speed. The main disadvantage is that it requires an arm to hold the shield, so no two-handed weapons can be used.
Once you have sent this information to Edge Grey through private message, we will get back to you and tell you if your character is approved or not. Then you will get the next proceedures to finalise your character, such as abilities and spells.
