NICK & SHARON NEWMAN—THE BEST COUPLE ON DAYTIME TELEVISION
...
I haven't bought the mag. yet, but from what I've seen from Soaps In Depth online, it says on the cover a "winter warm front puts the lady killer in the hot seat." Is that talking about the snow melting & Cameron's body being resurfaced, I wonder?
Re: Did anyone get the new Soaps in Depth?
Sorry this is kind of a week late nickfan. I didn't get my mag until last Thursday. It's a fun read though, with Sharon Case's comments about the men in her life. ENJOY!
This week on Y&R Sharon may be the only one in Genoa City wishing for a long, cold winter - because as the snows melt, so do her chances of getting away with Cameron's murder!
Indeed, the beautiful blonde has been in a state of high anxiety ever since her New Year's Eve confrontation with the computer whiz resulted in his death by champagne bottle. After wrapping the creep's corpse in a bed sheet and dragging it into the alley behind the sleazy motel, the young socialte thinks that maybe, just maybe, she has pulled off the crime, especially when a raging snowstorm covers the evidence of her deadly encounter.
Even so, out of sight doesn't mean out of mind, which Sharon quickly realizes as she tries to resume her normal life again. She wants to solve all her own problems and not make them other people's problems. That's what she's always done and that's what she's doing now shares Sharon Case. Of course, that's why she doesn't go to the police. She doesn't want her family to find out, and going to the police about this will spill a lot of cans of beans about what happened between Cameron and Sharon in Denver. She's still trying to protect that secret and really trying to see if she can solve her problem herself before having to make it everyone's problem too.
Line of Fire
Still, there is one person who she doesn't mind sharing her problems with - Michael Baldwin. He already knows about her involvement with Cameron says Jack Smith. He's her attorney and can't turn her in. Of course, Michael thinks she's mad, thinks she should go to the police and turn herself in ... or go to Nick about this, but she won't do that because she believes that will be the death knell for her and Nick.
Case agrees that her alter ego's greatest fear may not be having handcuffs slapped on her delicate wrists or being sent to the slammer, but losing Nick! She feels that she absolutely, absolutely cannot tell Nick. She really doesn't feel like they're back to where they need to be since Sharon left last winter. I think more than anything, Sharon wants to repair the damage that she did and fix all the problems in the past with Nick and her relationship with the family so this is the last thing in the world that she could tell him!
Not surprisingly though, Nick finds it a tad suspicious to continue to find his wife huddled with the legal eagle. There is a real conflict there that I'm spending time with Michael Baldwin - Case concedes. That's just another tough point that has to play out for Sharon that her only confidant is someone her husband hates. She kind of has to decide whether to trade bad for worse and she uses Micahel to get some legal advice.
Mother of All Problems?
Unfortunately it's not only Nick's watchful eyes Sharon has to worry about. Nikki is aware that Sharon came home late on New Year's Eve while Nick was at the office confides Smith. Nikki starts to get on the trail and although Sharon refuses to give her anything, she is more and more certain that something happened that night.
While Nikki has no idea that her daughter-in-law has Cameron's blood on her hands, the family's matriarch continues to harass her for answers. A desperate Sharon pulls out the only trump card she has Smith reveals. She threatens to tell Victor about Abby if Nikki doesn't stop which only ignites Nikki's suspicions all the more that whatever happened that night was serious. Nikki is more and more determined to figure out where Sharon spent that missing block of time.
Still Sharon feels her leverage over Nikki - namely the truth about Abby's paternity - will keep her in-law in check. Yet what she doesn't reckon on is another mother springing into the picture - Mother Nature!
Sharon is just beginning to feel safe at this point, but the snow is starting to melt in Genoa City and Sharon and Michael know there's a body out back in the alley behind this motel Smith relates. The biggest question now is: What is she going to do about it?
Sharon's Men: (in the words of Sharon Case)
Frank Barrett: When Sharon informed her high school beau that she was pregnant, he hightailed it out of town! Frank was probably her first romance where both were very young and silly. It was a teen pregnancy, and it was a big mistake.
Matt Clark: The creep date-raped Sharon then returned to attempt the same thing! He was also a high school sweetheart. He was probably the football captain, the all-American great guy. I think she was attracted to that, but then he turned into such a bad guy and date-raped her.
Nick Newman: Although Nick sways toward the good and decent he did sleep with Sharon's best gal pal, Grace. Nick is a great guy and the love of her life, so it was devastating to her when Nicholas was with Grace. But basically, I think she's lucky in love when it comes to him.
Diego Guittierez: The drifter was .... well a drifter. I think their relationship was almost a revenge thing. She thought Nichoals was having an affair with Grace, so she went to Diego out of desperation. I think she needed to be comforted and perhaps get a layer of revenge.
Cameron Kirsten: The computer whiz nearly beat Sharon to death after their one-night stand. I think when Sharon was with Cameron, she didn't know what she was doing. She had drunk herself to the point where she was alcohol poisoined .... so she could kill herself.
