Dmatero's Tears of the Werewolf
I gotta say out of all of Dmat's stuff is his best one. though, i missed something he mentioned to me later on, i thought the film, itself, was fun. It looked pretty cool, especially the resurection scene. that was really cool!
I alos, loved the fights at the end, though i would have added some other monster: a zombie, vampire babe, alien, robot, etc. but still cool. I also think that this scene should have had faster music like death metal or metalcore. Other than that it shows that Dmat's work keeps getting better.

Thanks Headbanger!! Im glad you dug it. Im actually going to try to use your suggestions and add the metal and maybe a few edits and dialogue cards to make it more smooth. I wish I had time to add more monsters but I basically had two weeks to get this done with five to six exams every week to study for. A vampire chick(ala Paul Naschy's Werewolf Shadow) was on my mind trust me.
Ill get one to you Morbidfilm..(I still cant believe I missed you..I saw them slam that damn drunk satan through the sidedoor too..BANG! ). Your kind words really help ALOT!
I dunno Josh..your mister pro filmmaker and Im just a fan with an 8mm camcorder and a VCR. Seriously though Ive been rereading your posts for technical info cuz Im getting more serious and I need to get real equipment some day. Down the road Ill probably make a DVD-r of all these shorts and send them to anyone for free.
Ive decided too that:
A)Im not waiting for next fall to start filming again.
B)Other than a possible experimental Kaiju short, I want to do a feature length film next.
C)Ive gotta learn how to do real FX (no more Halloween store stuff).

Sounds like a good plan you got there!!!! Good idea trying to shoot a Godzilla type short film. Nobody does that and it's just plain a cool idea.
Thanks for the kind words but I'm still learning everyday and I'm hardly a pro filmmaker. I'm 32 years old and was all talk about being a filmmaker until four years ago when I actually starting working on sets and shooting my own stuff. Brian (morbidfilms) is way more experianced and definately more pro than me. I just got lucky and have had the chance to play with more high end camera and stuff with my new movie.
It really doesn't matter what you shoot with as long as you have a good story to tell and the acting and sound are decent.
Here's a suggestion: Find someone to do the FX for you and concentrate on your writing and directing chops.
Tears
Thats a good suggestion Josh. I still want to learn basic FX for my own curiousity and like Morbidfilm Im sorta satisfied right now just being a horror fan making films for a small audience. Down the road when I have actual money I may branch out but right now its fun and dont feel like work.
The feature length idea Im thinking of will actually take place over a year storywise to cheat for the seasons/peoples look changing. It involves an election year , demons and the supernatural and general end of the world(humankinds dominance that is) as we know it. Like if George Romero was more center right in his politics, only had a camcorder, and had no real skill at filmmaking. I think my best bet is to wrap that general idea around really gory and fantastical scenes that dont necessarily go with eac other.
The other way i thought to cheat was to film an anthology style but then have all the stories and character meet at some point. The only thing i know is I like movies with gore AND atmosphere and where there is ALOT going on( I love TBWP, The Last Broadcast and Open Water but that minimalist style to get around the lack of a budget is not what I wanna do). I really liked ShatterDead, Darkness, MeatMarket and At Dawn They Sleep. Those are my influences along with more classic horror elements( I love the slasher genre but I dont want to do them personally).
Yeah, I know, I know..six short videos and hes talking about Romero and what he doesnt want to do like he's a real filmmaker..you would probably hate these movies I made Josh!
Re: Tears
It's great to read that you have a plan and a vision of what you want to do. And the fact that you have shot some short films, you have the experience that allows you to know your limits and how much you can stretch them on each new movie and work around them.
I love to see people being ambitious. I hate reading film people constantly talking down to us indie guys saying "don't go beyond your budget" Shit like that where they basically tell people not to be ambitious.
I always say be ambitious as possible and work your story around how you can pull off certain scenes.
I'm in the creative, but nervous of how the hell I'm going to pull of the next movie stage right now. I think the fact that you want to try to do a style short is awesome!
Just go for it and have fun!

Not at all man. Talking Romero means you know your shit in my book. Him and Sam Peckinoah are my favorite directors.
Morbid you are hundred percent right about being ambitious. I wouldn't have the balls to try a film. I respect that.
ANd stop worring about your camera. Use it your advantage like your saying. I'm just all techie so I just like talking shit about the HD camera's and remote focus and what not.
It ain't the cam it's the movie and you seem to know that so that makes you smarter than 90% of the kids out there shooting home video movies with their friends acting in it.
Also you and anyone with good taste will would hate first few short films I made so it's all cool.
