Does Anybody Remember the Early Days of OLTL?
I loved this show when it first premiered in 1968. I was just a kid, but my older sister and mom watched and since it aired just before my favorite soap at the time, DARK SHADOWS, I joined in too.

I loved the Worlek family (Anna, Vinnie and Larry) as well as the Seigals, the Lords, the Craigs and Sadie and Carla Gray.

I thought Gillian Spencer's portral of Vicki Lord was excellent, especially when the character first developed the split personality of Nicki Smith.

Another favorite storyline was when Cathy Craig became hooked on drugs and wound up murdering drug lord Artie Duncan! Vinnie was arrested for the crime and Cathy couldn't remember that she had done the deed in self-defense because Artie had given her a big dose of LSD!

I also liked the storyline when Francesca James played the evil Marcy Wade, who was trying to steal Vicki Lord Reily's (now played by Erika Slezak) husband, Steve Burke. What great storytelling. Agnes Nixon knew what she was doing!

Re: Does Anybody Remember the Early Days of OLTL?
Thanks for the insights about the early days. I did not start watching One Life To Live until around 1976. I was one of the soap hoppers who followed George Reinholt and Jacqueline Courtney to the show. For years I battled between my love for both shows -- that is until VCR's. LOL

I have always wondered about Gillian Spencer as Vicki. You never hear anyone say how they liked her as Vicki. I love the actress and always felt that she had to be good. Was it her choice to leave the role or was it a decision of the producers. I know she showed up on As The World Turns next as Jennifer, but can't believe she would have left the role of Vicki for Jennifer. To my All My Children just hasn't been the same without Gillian as Daisy Cortlandt though. She was just fantastic in that role.

I had read somewhere that Susan Sullivan had been considered for the role of Vicki. I think that would have been interesting to see as well. I think she is a wonderful actress. Daytimes loss of her has been primetimes gain.
