I dreamed about Middle Earth several times, and different places. Most of the time it is landscape, or a certain location.
Once I dreamed about Boromir's departure from Minas Tirith to go North to Imladris. It is always facinating.
Basically, I dream about Middle Earth a lot when I am reading the book in the evening, because my dreams tend to latch on whatever my mind is playing with.
Re: Dreams
Same here... but, oddly, I never dreamed about other places, I mean, about other books (about movies I did a few times, though). Yep, I have dreamed a few times (at least I remember a few times) about ME and most of them related to the sea, be in Beleriand or Mithlond or Númenor -- a few times I was around Númenor or just sailing. And a couple of times with orcs and a battlefield too, and I must to say I didn't like it.
And oddly too, the feelings I had when I woke up were of an infinite sadness. I tried to recall what exactly I dreamed to cause such a deep sorrow but failed, and only a few images images hit my mind. Perhaps it was only that night was over and I needed to go to work, or because I had left a dream I was enjoying, I don't know. But I especially remember the sea, or high mountains at my back (they were the Ered Luin, I think, not the Misty Mountains), as if blocking my path, and Ithilien (heh). Not much locations (cities) but at least once I dreamed with The Shire (dunno the place exactly) and Minas Tirith, but they were empty, as if forsaken.
Unlike Andranneth, I never dreamed (again, or I don't recall) with people, less book characters, aside the orcs, but that time in Ithilien I was Faramir for a while (no, you can't laugh! :P) and then the dream changed and I wasn't Faramir anymore, but I needed to speak to him, to tell him "No, don't go there! They are going to kill you all!" (where? huh?) but I ran and ran and when I arrived to a cave that surely was Henneth Annun I found the place empty, as always -- and then I woke.
I dreamed twice with that large wave swallowing it all; it isn't Atlantis, it is another place. I'm atop a tall cliff, there is a tempest shaking the land but I don’t care, even if I am shivering. I know I am in danger, that I should leave, run down the city, search for a ship, I know what is coming, but I can’t move, because I know I missed my chance and there is no ship to leave. I look to the West until the wave comes and takes me away.
And several times I dreamed about this (it happens to me a lot, to dream the same): I am in a large bedroom, it looks to be like the hall of an ancient castle or tower. I am seated on an armchair and permanently looking to the West, and waiting and waiting for... I don't know, but I am all anxious, waiting for something or someone that doesn't arrive. I raise to my feet and move around the room, look at the south and see the landscape, an immense plain and, to the right, a green and large wood, the largest I have ever seen, and its borders are golden, literally. When I turn to my left and see the mountains (very impressive, they remind me the Alps first time I saw them, towering upon me), then I know I am in Himring (and if someone dares to laugh, I’ll have his head, got it?). I gasp, and it is as if I suddenly knew what I am doing there. But I return to my chair, sit down, cover my face with the hands and begin to weep, because I know too that the waiting is in vain.
Had I dreamed with Faramir or Boromir (not to mention Maedhros) and I would have entered in coma to keep the dream alive

*back to my usual lurker position, but I couldn’t resist to post about*
PS *waves to Nolen and, um, to Andrennath (if he's who she thinks he is, if you're not, ignore the wave)*
Re: Dreams *waves back* Yes I am, welcome to the board, Cai!
I just remembered, I once also dreamed about the Dagor Bragollach. That was one of the less nice dreams. But in general, like Nolendur, I am usual desperate to hold on to the dreams when I wake up.
Re: Dreams
(putting helmet firmly on head, and full armor) because I usually dream about the movies. Many times I have dreamed about Middle-earth and the characters as portrayed in the movies. When I was little and there were no movies, once I dreamed about the Hobbit--Bilbo and the spiders.
It is unusual for me to dream about books. Daydream--incessantly, but actual dreams are much more rare, maybe only a few times a year.
Re: Dreams
Eep! I forgot completely that once, a very long time ago, I had a dream about Frodo and Sam and Merry and Pippin coming to Bree--and the whole thing was like a very beautiful illustration come to life, or the best animation ever seen!
I remember the rain, and cloaks, and a washed-silvery-sheen to the whole dream, and was curious about this because it had been awhile since I had read FOTR, so this dream startled me greatly.
But I always remembered it because it was visually one of the most atmospheric and beautiful and *unusual* dreams I ever had. Remains so to this day!
