Ellie Harper Bergman

Hi!
Another question about my favourit soap. :) :) :)
Can anybody tell me more about the character Ellie Harper Bergman? I´ve read somewhere that she was married with Stew. Is that correct?
And how/why left she the show? Thanks a lot for any answer!
Hanna ;)

Re: Ellie Harper Bergman
I can't tell you a whole lot about her Hanna but I'll tell you what I know.

She was married to Stu. I think she was his second wife. She left the show under ridiculous circumstances as I remember them now. She ran off with the cook. Someone can correct me if that is not right.

The actress who played Ellie recently died in 2001.

Re: Ellie Harper Bergman
After Marge Bergman died, Stu and Ellie's friendship developed. Ellie cared for Stu but Stu only thought of Ellie as a friend, and eventually Ellie left town. When Jo was shot in the summer of 76, Ellie returned to Henderson and Stu realized how much he'd missed her and cared for her. He eventually proposed and they married in June 76.
In 1981, when Don Chastain was the head writer (he also played the role of Dr. Max Taper) he wrote off the character of Ellie with the "cute" (I thought ridiculous) explanation that she had run off with the Inn's tempermental chef Armand. As if...
Billie Lou Watt who portrayed the role of Ellie for over ten years was incensed at the way her character was written out.
Hope that helps
