Eon Blue Apocalypse
A pre-completed version of this song can be heard on Salival's Pushit in the beggining when Maynard is talking....just to let you guys know if you didn't already. Maybe, there is a connection of sorts between "The Patient" and "Pushit." As far as meaning goes, "The Patient" can be considered a pre-quel to "Pushit." But I may be wrong...tell me what you think.

pre-quel
interesting idea about the pre-quel. So you think Pushit is about when he finally loses his patience? But, Pushit was released before The Patient? Tool being Tool means anything is possible...

maybe the patient is his coming to terms with his desire to "persuade you another way" and he must keep reminding himself not to claw someones @#%$ throat away...and maybe its about our coming to terms with violence and learning to control it as a race. maybe...

Going on Andy Augsperger's assumptions, Lateralus draws two paths around the Qabbalistic Tree of Life: one leading straight up from Malkuth to Kether, and the other more-or-less following the path of the lightning bolt. The latter path is a roundabout traverse of the Tree, maybe because the former path is broken -- Temperence/Art is blocked by The Blasted Tower ("Schism").
One has to wonder if maybe Pushit is the song missing from this album, the route that's alluded to with Aeon Blue Apoc. Something worth considering, I think.
