Favorite storylines RE:Alondra
My favorite is the introduction of Barnabas episodes also and of course the 1840 storyline.

The 1897 storyline goes without saying since I think that was the icing on the cake for DS! Definitely the very best of the show!

I'm glad you came back to chat Alondra, especially since you like Willie too!:rollin

Re: Favorite storylines RE:Alondra
Be patient with me as I get the hang of this nit board. It ate up my reply so I will try again.

I like the early Barnabas episodes since there is so much Willie, and I like 1897 because it was a great storyline with so many great elements. Just not enough JK. Quentin was best in that storyline, he was exciting, but after 1897 they watered him down so that he was reduced to pining away after some nit ghost with the scent of lilacs. 1840 Quentin looked good too but he was so naive where Gerard was concerned. Even before he was possessed by Judah, Gerard had proven himself not to be Quentin's friend.

Agree!
Oh, I agree Alondra! Quentin was so attractive during 1897 and then he got mushy. It must be the bad boy effect, he seemed so charismatic when he was a reckless, drinking, womanizer! LOL! Same with Gerard, somehow he seemed sexy in his evil,:evil as well as Barnabas,Nicholas Blair, and even WILLIE! He was the bad boy in the beginning before Barnabas sank his teeth into him ! Maybe we have Barnabas to thank after all for making Willie turn into the sweet ,cute ,darling he is! LOL! :o :rollin

Re: Favorite storylines RE:Alondra
I did not think Gerard was good looking at all. As a ghost he was especially ugly. I didn't like his voice as I liked Quentin's and Willie's. I am very sensitive to voices and some just really bother me.

Now Nicholas Blair was very suave and debonair. I liked him best as Charles Dawson in 1840 because I like the salt and pepper hair. I love his voice when he gets mean.

Barnabas does not do anything for me romantically but when he got mad look out! I loved how he dealt with Trask in 1795 and Forbes. I got shivers when he screamed "You can't kill me, I'm already dead!"

As for my beloved Willie, yes it was meeting that vampire one night in a mausoleum that changed him, but Willie changed more in spite of Barnabas than because of him. I think Willie saw how he had victimized others, now that he was himself being victimized. He began to defend others and try to protect them.

Willie & Barnabas
Oh, that's what I mean though, it is possible that because of Barnabas he came to realize how he
had victimized others and then was able to change. The real question is would he have changed if what happened to him didn't happen? (dramatic music!)

I love Nicholas Blair too, gee I guess I love all the Collinwood men! Each of them were great in their own way.
Yes, when he lowered that voice, very sexy.He was in some of the scariest scenes in DS in my opinion. The black mass stuff and black magic always spooked me! I remember reading they had to tone it down a bit because people were complaining it was too scary especially the scenes with Diabolos! They didn't like the referral to the devil. Watching it now still gives me the creeps.:eek :evil :eek

When you think about it, Dan Curtis did some pretty good casting! I think just about every character was perfect except with the exception of Roxanne. She grated my nerves!
Never liked Daphne much either, kind of like Roxanne, no life to them! Dull, Dull, Dull!
At least Amanda Harris was passionate about Quentin! Not Daphne though. Yick.:b (

Re: Willie & Barnabas
I write fan fic and in one story Willie does change before meeting Barnabas. In fact he doesn't end up meeting Barnabas at all. It is love that changes him.

I was not bothered by that black mass or seeing Diobolos or any of that. I can see why some might be bothered, but to me it is fantasy and imagination.

I didn't mind Roxanne but gak Amanda Harris. I couldn't stand that insipid nit. There is a friend of mine (male) who likes her, and we have had some words. I just think any man should become bored with only a pretty face and no mind behind it. But to be fair, Amanda had only really existed for about 3 years so she can't be blamed for being brainless.

I didn't care for Daphne either, and during 1840 she was in practially every episode. I didn't like seeing her fall prey to Gerard, and those dreams he sent her were all the same thing.

I didn't like it that Quentin fell for Amanda instead of Beth. I liked Beth for him because she was so loyal and loved him so much.
