Hey Guys
Hey
For the longest time I have been looking for a site to log onto and chat about what amounts to one of the main things in my life (although I've lapsed a little recently), I found this one.
I'm looking forward to spending vast amounts of time hanging out and chatting about Professor Tolkien and his works.
Just so we're clear I'm a roleplayer and I don't speak elvish (unfortunately, (yet?)).
Welcome Maedhros to our humble halls. I hope you will enjoy your stay. Many of us are roleplpayers, too - and no, we do not all speak Sindarin or Quenya.
unfortunately I will be off board for a while. Please join us with our games, or start discussions... have fun!
Re: Welcome!
Perhaps this is not what you had in mind, or perhaps it is. Let us discuss Cirdan and Gil Galad and Galadriel, the original three ring-bearers. Why did Cirdan give up the ring, and how did Elrond come to bear what Gil Galad originally did? I know the answers are in the books, but I don't know them. Yet. :-D
Especially Cirdan, who fascinates me. Anyone wish to discuss him more? And Galadriel? And Gil Galad and Elrond? Yes?
Re: Welcome!
Of course we can discuss all this. Just start a thread in the discussion area.
Círdan! He's actually quite interesting with the History of the thundering of the elves and all that. One of the oldest Elves around - and he has a beard. I hope to post something about that soon.
Cirdan
I think Peter Jackson was afraid in that brief look at the original Elven ring-bearers to put a beard on Cirdan. And for those who have no clue who Cirdan is (or was, like me when I first saw the movies--I hadn't read about him yet) it would have thrown them badly to see a bearded someone with white hair as a ringbearer.
Of course, had PJ gone ahead and made Cirdan look like he is described to look like, it might have got people diving into the books to see who that bearded Elf? was! So I wish he had given him that beard he isn't wearing.
