Let's start with the good news first from TVGuide Online:

One Life to Live's Nathaniel Marston (Al) is slated to make a dramatic exit from Llanview in the next few weeks, but the actor's departure may not be as permanent as originally expected. In light of several campaigns to keep the popular coupling of Al and Marcie (Kathy Brier) alive, the actor is reportedly in discussions to get a second life on the show. Marston's rep would neither confirm nor deny that the actor is in talks for a return engagement. An OLTL rep would only state that no decisions have been made.
Now, for the not so good news from Sage's Sept 4. Column:

It's official, sadly. I have just heard from a flawless source (the one who broke the "Mitch is coming back" story a long while back) that Al will, in fact, be dying. We (and Marcie) are given the impression that he's going to be fine, then he goes down (still in the hospital, this ain't GH, you know), they hit him with the shockers and can't get him back.
Dammit.
There are also some ideas (not just rumors, but like plans being considered by writers) that Al has a twin in Argentina (I mean, didn't we WATCH Tina deliver Gabrielle's baby?? - Oh well, we watched Jessica be born as well, I guess and we know where that went).
There are rumors that Al will be around for a bit as a ghost to help Marcie through. Haven't heard anything further on that.
My favorite NotMitch troublemaker for Llanview, David Vickers, is just getting started with his enjoyment of the town's finest and most devious ladies. Watch for him to get frisky with Lindsay next as they trade prison break out stories over dinner. He's also going to utter the words we've all been wanting to hear (No, not "Adrianna *IS* going home to PR - but she is!! For real this time!): "Kelly, why aren't you cool like you used to be and why are you putting me to sleep, darling??" OK, so maybe he doesn't say it like that, but he definitely calls her on her new personality change. Old timers will remember David seducing barelylegal Kelly on Dorian's yacht (that he weaseled out of her), Kelly whopping him on the head with a bust (a statue, not a boob) thinking he was dead and running to Joey.
A Navy hottie will be coming to Llanview looking for Sarah in order to find CJ. Looks like OLTL might trying another shot at the gay story that fell through with Rex via CJ. Can they perhaps be braver than they were last year?
That's what I've got so far! Of course, even though a scene is in the can, it can still be changed, so keep writing those letters to Nathaniel Marston so we can save our Voice of the Night!!
I agree with Sage, the death scenes may already be in the can, but that doesn't mean they can't reshoot and the fact that they're even negotiating with Nathaniel is a very good sign! Let's stay positive and hopefully we'll hear some good news real soon.

I will try to stay positive, at least they are talking with him. But about this twin thing, didn't they just do a twin thing with Troy/Colin. I have just recently come back to the show so I am not sure about that.

I'm seriously hoping that they are not going to do a "twin" or "ghost" story with NM. The whole purpose of our campaign was to get him back as "Al". "Al" is the one I fell in love with and that's who I want to see on my screen along with Marcie

I came back to the show for AL and Marcie & have so totally fallen for Al. I don't want to see another twin thing! but I guess I will take NM as I can get him. We will have to see.

I agree sometimes true love stories can ruin a character, but I think in this case if it is done right it so doesn't have too. They can explore his darkside, that would be so intersting to see played out w/NM & KB.

First off, thanx for the info Tina.
I posted my opinion on this over in the yahoo group and came over here to state my opinion on it too.
I go into more detail on my opinion in a seperate chain but I basically feel that I can handle NM playing Al's twin cause if TPTB feel it is absolutely necessary to kill off Al then Al's twin is the 2nd best thing and will still allow me to see NM on a regular basis.

I agree with this.. though I am skeptical about ruining marcal with his twin, and I'm skeptical about putting NM's next character in the corner with true love again, it could be written in such a way that it doesn't back the character into a wall, and that's my main priority.
And Autumnrosey has a great point too.. that Al could be brought out of this corner he's been backed into... because I HONESTLY believe that Nathaniel found a way to make Al ALL of the layers, enough springboard from Al as a dark character as well.
I think the ideas about making the death story a dream sequence is workable if TPTB were willing... I just dunno.. We never have enough of the facts to know whether we've covered all the bases.. we are so in the dark about what's really going on.. it must be humorous to read what we think in light of what they know..

Definitely, I bet that at least half the things we are reading about this SL aren't even true. and if TPTB are reading our responses to some of these things that aren't gonna happen they probably be cracking up. Saying things like, Man, how can these fans think we would actually do that.
For the most part with this whole SL we've only had rumors to go on, no real facts and those rumors are changing everyday. It seems like, everyday we come online and learn something new that MIGHT happen. Only time will tell what WILL happen and what WON'T happen.
