Hi, my name is Yolanda and I'm new at this board. I saw your inquiry and I would love to help. Do you have any specific subjects site you are interested in or are you looking for general subjects? Let me know.

Hi Yolanka! Thanks!
Hi! I appreciate your willingness to help me out! I really am looking for some quality homeschool sites to add to my links...they can be general or specific...I really want to offer my site visitors the overall homeschool picture, ya know(?). I just finished my first year of homeschooling my 6 yr & 3 yr olds and really would like to offer a place for seasoned homeschoolers and newbies to find all of the info that they want in one place! Sort of a database...I appreciate any help that you can give me!

Thanks! :)

Wohh, girl...then get ready for heavy rolls. I'll be getting back to you next week with some of the ones I have, hopefully you don't have them already. I keep you in mind, don't loose hope, I'm homeschooling my 8 year old and building my business in the net at the same time and cooking, doing laundry and attending to my husband....is like a juggler or someone on keeping balance with a lot of hats. I'll talk to you next week, ok? See ya!:)

Hey Girl!
I know the feeling about being that busy!! :b

I have a 6 yr. and 3 yr. that I have been homeschooling....along with all of the duties that come with the chief cook and bottlewasher title!! LOL I really believe that homeschooling is soooo awesome, but I'm not sure if I am cut out for it myself (I want the links because I want other moms to be able to come to my site and find great places to find all of the help they need!)

My patience wore REALLY thin this past year, but I also had some mother-in-law "stuff" :rolleyes going on that had me somewhat stressed!! LOL....You would think that after 8 years of marriage, some of the stupid stuff would be over...oh well, It too will pass- Praise God!!

Thanks for your homeschool help!

Re: WOW!!
Hi Yolanka,

I'm new here too! How did you find all those great links?

Is it hard to homeschool? I have a 4 year old and I haven't decided what to do with her yet. I'm afraid I wouldn't have the patience to handle teaching her, though I have thought about doing it so many times.

Do you feel they miss any of the social interactions with other kids they would meet in school? I think that is one of my biggest concerns.

Well, I guess I have a lot of surfing to do today with all those new links!

Thanks!

Re: WOW!!
Hello,

I'm glad you like them and pray they are useful. I'd been homeschooling my daughter now for 3 years, is hard sometimes, but what isn't. Concerning social interaction, that's what she had to much in school (I had her in kindergarten in public/government school and 1st grade in private school) and she's so people oriented that she did not pay any attention in classes and what I taught her at home before she went to school was lost. Since I'd been homeschooling her, she had improved 100% (and I'm not an easy cookie). Her social skills, haven't changed a bit. She's still outgoing, playful, giggly big little girl (she's 8 ), loves kits and people. I don't think that if that is in the kids personality, we moms or anyone can take it away, maybe suppresed it but never destroyed. I let my daughter be who she is. I don't mold her to my personality, matter fact, I want to be more like her, I like her. (She don't know it but she's my example, heehee) and we have a lot of fun and discipline.:)
In my opinion, any mother is capable to teach her children; after all, you teach them to walk, to eat properly, to dress, to bathe and take showers, to brush their teeth and brush their hair, how to behave, what to say, when and where, what not to say, etc...and with today's advances we have
qualifications courses for mothers that want to homeschool. You need to know what are the laws and regulations of the state you are in and follow them. In summary, if that what God wants you to do, and you are 100% sure deep down in your knower, God already qualify you to do the job. You only need to cover the "down here" paperwork. You also have the option of trying for a year, early stages are easy, they follow, but when they start thinking for themselves and questioning, gets a little difficult and a lot of adjustments while in process are required. A process of discovering each other and learning together. Been a mom is a teaching process for life, whether you homeschool or not, she will still learn from you, directly and indirectly. Have fun and a wonderful day. Talk to you later.:)

Re: WOW!!
Yolanka, thank you so much for that wonderful post! :)

You have really opened my eyes, and maybe some other mothers' eyes to homeschooling.

I liked your comment that any mother is capable of teaching. We have to give ourselves credit for what we have taught our children in their early days of life.

I am very impressed and hope your daughter is very successful in life. She obviously has a wonderful and supportive mother by her side. :)

Hope you stop by often to chat!

Re: WOW!!
Well said!

That is exactly what I had to tell some of my family when we decided to homeschool our kids last year...I have taught them everything they know until now, and If God is confident that I am qualified to be a mother then I'm sure He is confident in my capability to teach them!!

And guess what?!! God has called me to be a teacher at the school at our church this coming year!! In my very first post, I mentioned that I was frustrated with homeschooling, and was praying about not doing it anymore.....well, I feel like God allowed the dissatisfaction to come, because if I were all excited doing it, I would have been less likely to move into what He was calling me to do!!! I praise Him for the opportunity to homeschool last year, it taught me so much about myself and I had quality time with the kids...and now God is rewarding me because they will be interacting with other children, be taught by people with same beliefs that I have, will be taught the Word of God in EVERY subject, and I will be only footsteps away from them at all times ( and the best part is that I am moving even more into my ministry)!!! Praise the Lord! That makes me want to shout!! LOL!! If I keep this up, I will have to move this discusion over to Christian Living...ROFLOL!!

Anyway, GREAT post, Yolanka! :)

This is truly amazing. Thanks to all of you! My babies are not old enough to go to school yet, but I have been debating on either letting them go to public, private, or home school. Its getting scary these days, and I want my babies to feel safe, and secure. I am leaning more towards private or home schools..:)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

THANKS and have a Fantastic day!

Re: I really need some good homeschool sites!!
I see you've gotten lots of good sites. Check out theoldhomeschoolhouse.com. It is also a great magazine. HSLDA(.org I think) will keep you updated on what is going on all over the country (and world sometimes).
I'm kind of a veteran I guess. We have 8 children, all homeschooled all the way through. My oldest will graduate this year and my youngest is 4. I'm sure I do lots wrong and they aren't getting everything but they know where to find out what they don't know and God's grace covers what I miss. Keep on keepin' on. You can all do it!
I'm just starting my own WAH business and so far I am able to keep up with most of it!

Re: I really need some good homeschool sites!!
Hi Lori,

This is exciting to find other homeschooling parents! I have been homeschooling for four years now going into our fifth year. We love it, my two girls ages 7 & 10 and I. My husband supports me 100% and that helps a lot. My girls and I find it rewarding to spend so much quality time together. As for socialization I take them to the Y.M.C.A. for swimming lessons. And trust me they get enough socialization there. LOL It's hard sometimes to keep up with the housework, homeschool, and run my business at the same time but so far God has seen to it to give me the energy and patience to get through it all! I wouldn't change my mind about homeschooling for any reason! Here are some sites that I use for finding curriculum and teaching.
