I'm still waiting for a JW to explain this one....
Sorry, but just as God never changes, neither should our beliefs. They should be steadfast in His Word, and to have a sect like JWs whose beliefs have changed, and changed, and changed, I say they are like the wind.

How many ex-JWs were ex-communicated for doing things that the JW faith now accepts as okay?

More then one has been sent here... and read the post to them... if they didn't then the lied to me... So one might come to the conclusion that there are no answers... BUT they have been told, and they did say they DID come by... Brofun and jwt among them... Jasin too, who denies being a JW but sure does defend their cause...

Blessings to you......

The JWs would tell you that the "changes" are nothing more than just text/punctuation, and that there are no real changes.

I know what it is like (as I have outreached to both Mormons and JWs) and it is hard to get them to see.

Still.... Keep trying.

ha ha ha

"Brian" washing?

If our brain is kept clean, then we wouldn't have to wash it.

Re: I'm still waiting for a JW to explain this one....
They grab them as young kids... MOST hard line JW's had parents or close friends and family "@#%$" them up at a very very tender age, and start the "indoctrination" Little is known of the church doings unless one really gets into the "jw" insights... MOST JW's whether they admit it or not believe that the Kingdom hall is the only "true" church and outside it one is doomed, now thats their old doctrine... now it seems they are in need a recruits... so its a "more feel good" typer preaching... TILL your in the KHall... then its all about, if you leave... your doomed and they REALLY turn their backs on you... "this holds many to their flock"

But, Jesus said to forgive "70 times 7" if you must.

Where is the love?

Re: I'm still waiting for a JW to explain this one....
Let's see if I got this straight.

John Doe is a JW. But he believes something different than the congregation, so they ex-communicate him for it.

Then a few years later, the leadership of the JWs decide that they should all believe the same as John Doe, but to them John Doe is still a child of satan, so he remains ex-communicated?

And, they really believe that God changes?

Glad I'm not a JW.

I'll stick to being a born-again Christian.

Re: I'm still waiting for a JW to explain this one....
You have to find the latest teachings to help a JW change his mind. The organization is like a moving target. If you try to pull out old false teachings, like any of the prediction of the end of the world, they'll just say that they are constantly coming into the light, and they admit they've made some mistakes (although most don't know what those mistakes are).

Right now, the Watchtower.org site has a link to a Trinity article (www.watchtower.org/library/ti/index.htm) that is the same as a brochure they are currently studying and handing out. I printed it up so I could go through it to find their errors. By the grace of God I found another site that did an in-depth refutal of that same brochure. You can read it at www.bible.ca/trinity/trin...-SYBTT.htm . It has some strong points that may get through to some JW's if they're not too wrapped up.

Read it before they change their mind again. Of course there might be some hope for them if they do change their mind on this topic.

How many christians eat pork or otherwise violate the Kasruth? Clam chowder? Lobster thermidor? Ever wear poly-cotton blends?

Laws?
Christians are not under the Hebrew "Jewish" laws, Christ has made all things clean for us, it is not what one puts in his mouth that defiles him, but the words that come out of his mouth.

Re: Laws?
Kosher was just an example. The OT included a number of laws about behavior, that christians partially follow, feeling fairly sure that it's okay to do so because an authority figure changed the rules. I just think it's a bit judgemental to justify the changes in your religion, and cast aspersions on the changes in another's religion.

We changed nothing. . .
Christians are not, NOR HAVE ever been under the Jewish Kosher laws. . . and in fact are warned others would come and try and judge us for what we eat, but not to let them. . .

Come judgment day, you really think God is going to bring up your diet? lol

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1 Timothy 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1 Timothy 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
1 Timothy 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

(That verse says it all, and is enough to show all things are cool, as long as there is thanks, AND also note, it even warns some would come. . . commanding to abstain from meats, <<< God even warns us, so you see we are not, nor have ever been under the kosher dietary laws. Some people just assume because the jews are, we are, without bothering to find out what the word says. . . )

1 Corinitains 8:8 But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

(Need God say more?)

Acts 10:9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
Acts 10:10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
Acts 10:11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
Acts 10:12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
Acts 10:13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
Acts 10:14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
Acts 10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
Acts 10:16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

(God has cleaned all meats for us, there it is again. . . some want to say that this is about gentiles, but God did not clean all gentiles did he? Or all would be Christians, for one must be washed with the blood to be clean.)

Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

(Clear as a bell, I am to let no man judge me for what I eat.)

Mark 7:15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
Mark 7:16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
Mark 7:17 And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
Mark 7:18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
Mark 7:19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
Mark 7:20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

(Christ was VERY clear as well. . . its not what one puts in his mouth, but what comes out of it that defiles a man.)

1 Corinitains 10:28 But if any man say unto you, this is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:
1 Corinitains 10:29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?
1 Corinitains 10:30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

1 Corinitains 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

(There says we can even eat food sacrified to idols. Just so long as WE know Christ is in our heart.)

So you see, we are not under the Kosher meat laws, nor have we ever been. . . :)

Blessings

So, there is no 'old testament' in your bible? You're not responsible for the 10 commandments? As i said, Kosher was just an example.

Well, The Jews think so, and the Mormons, and the Muslims and Vegetarian Christians...
