As the name indicates...this RPG will revolve around Crossroads and New Beginnings.CrossroadsWe would like to see characters come to a 'crossroads' in their lives where important and life changing decisions have to be made. These events can be very personal...i.e. a relationship beginning, ending or changing, or they can be moral or spiritual. Whatever is decided, they should show 'growth' for your character.New BeginningsThis can be any number of items as well and most likely will relate back to the 'crossroads' in your character(s)' life or lives and/or career. They may be starting a new career as teacher or student at Xavier's School for the Gifted or may have been selected to train for the upcoming X-Men team(s). Their 'new beginning' once again may be as simple as establishing a new relationship or changes in an old one.

Inspecting the Grounds. {open tags}OOC: I assume it's okay for me to just make a thread. I hope someone posts here now. I just feel like doing some random RP-ing.
Emma Frost was an early riser. From a young age her father had taught her that time was money and that attitude was in grained her. So at seven o'clock in the morning she was just pouring herself a cup of coffee in the mansion kitchen, freshly ground coffee beans naturally. Pouring the gorgeous black liquid into a white porcelain cup, she sniffed in the invigorating aroma. Adding a small amount of cream she stirred it carefully and placed the spoon down before leaving the kitchen and stepping out onto the patio.
The sun was rising and there was a beautiful freshness in the air, it was going to warm and sunny today, she was delighted to see. Rain played havok with her hair after all. Smirking slightly at the thought she sat down on one of the chairs, placing her cup on the table and crossing one leg over the other. She flicked her hair over her shoulder and leaned her head back, a waterfall of golden hair shimmering down her back as she cloed her eyes and absorbed the first heat of the day.
Morning hit with all the intensity that Karika was used to. Since she had left Weapon X, she was not forced to wake up at the crack of dawn...but unfortunately, her body was in the habit. That meant, every morning at 4:37am, her sandy hazel eyes would pop open, almost waiting for that loud alarm that would pierce the air. Damn, no matter how long she had steeled herself, the noise would always shock and frighten her...
That was Weapon X's intent, to shock and frighten. But, as X-23 had nearly-accepted, she was not just a lab rat anymore. She was a real girl! With some extra feral hormones and memories that haunted her. Sniffing the air, she knew it was going to be a beautiful day. Just the kind of day for a pair of shorts and a T-shirt. It was a little strange for Karika to wake up and actually have a choice of what to wear, instead of sleeping and training in the same leather bodysuit she always wore. Okay, it was more than a little strange and Karika was bad at it.
Pulling on a pair of black shorts, she put on a T-shirt that had a picture of a bird on it which would've been fine...if it wasn't inside out. Stepping outside, Karika began to run; the dew on the grass felt wonderful against her bare legs and her long hair flew behind her. Oh it was a wonderful day!
Karika was wild and free and...there was someone else out. She smelled coffee! Maybe it was Jonathon or maybe...it was a woman she'd never seen before. Karika stopped and stared at the woman. She was very beautiful and very different from Karika...X-23 had long dark hair, and this woman's hair was almost white! Her eyes were very dark and this woman had blue ones. All at once, Karika was fascinated by her.
Bounding over, she examined the cup and then the woman. Though she knew that the language barrier was going to be difficult to overcome, Karika gave a little wave. "Hi." She said, her voice slightly gravelly from having just awoken. Staring at the woman, she cocked her head, sniffing her. "You different." She said, reaching out to touch the woman. "Shiny!" she said and went to feel Emma's hair.
The only thing left to marvel at was the tiny girl who seemed completely unbound by social constraints. That was X-23.

OOC: I love it, great character.
Emma was reaching for another sip of her coffee, drinking down the sweet liquid, licking her lips and savouring the taste as she set the cup down. She heard footsteps and before she could turn around a small girl with dark hair, came bounding up and started sniffing her and the cup of coffee.
"My, you are really quite without personal boundaries. I wonder who let you off your leash." she commented, slightly amused by the whole thing. As the girl reached out to touch her hair, commenting that she was different Emma's interest was piqued. "You remind me of someone" she commented, almost to herself, reaching out her mind to touch the girls, but she couldn't seem to read much off her.
Frowning she watched the girl closely. "Do you have a name girl?" she asked her, as she pulled her hair over her shoulder so that girl could have a better look at it. "You know that you could have hair like this if you washed your hair and combed it." Emma informed the girl "Or you might need a bit more work than that, but you have potential." Not even sure that she understands me.
Re: Inspecting the Grounds/Tags: Marina, Fi
Mez started to feel some exhaustion. He was always up early in the morning. A German Shepherd was in-front of Mez trying to keep the young man motivated to continue. Mez hoped over logs and rocks and enjoyed the chilly air, so cold in fact Mez could see his own breath.
It was his morning run, as necessary as breakfast. Mez was in better shape after staying here then when he first joined the Marines. He had been slacking prior to coming here, and he felt bad for it, he hadn't just been slacking physically but also mentally, for a long time he had surpressed his own powers to "fit in" with regular humans, but ever since he got here he had become little bit more aware of himself and his gifts.
James finally reached the edge of Breakstone Lake, he wasn't too far from the Xavier Estate. He was faced with a decision, the German Shepherd Mez had befriended had his tongue hanging out. "Freddy..." Mez said talking to the dog. "You think I can make it?" He asked him, Mez's ability was to mentally control water, there were a lot of people here with better psychic abilities to him and he still had yet to even fathom what could be done with his power. He dared himself earlier to run across the water. It was another one of his stupid stunts to prove something to himself.
Freddy barked several times, and that settled it for the both of them. Mez walked back a few steps and closed his eyes, trying to clear his mind and focus on doing one specific thing. Opening his eyes once more, he took a few deep breaths, doing whatever he could to cool himself done. The sweat on his body was chilly, at 7 o'clock it was still pretty cold on Mez's side of the lake. Bringing out his focus he dashed straight into the water and suprisingly he was actually running cleanly across the lake, splashes lapped at his heels as he ran as fast as he could over the lake. Fred was close behind him. Mez huffed and puffed, but he could feel the strain of what he was doing, his mind gave out and Mez tumbled in a violent series of splashes finally plunging into the lake.
Freddy fell into the water with Mez too, but he did so with just a little more grace than his human friend. Mez regained his composure and come up from underneath the water. "Brilliant, just brilliant" he thought. The water was cold and Mez started to shiver, wordlessly both Mez and Freddy silently agreed to head to the Mansion. Swimming back Mez got up rubbing his sides and chest trying to keep warm. Freddy shook all the water off of himself spraying Mez, with doggy hair. He cringed and the dog just continued to pant. Mez looked back over and the sun was beggining to rise. It felt the heat wash over him, "Least it wasn't going to be cold much longer" is the kind of thinking James had. Enjoying the new-found warm for a few moments he gather himself together and he pulled off his Black T-shirt and twisted it getting the water out of it, it was still incredibly soaked. Looking around Mez didn't find anybody around, he was by himself, of course who in their right mind would be up. Shivering cold Mez walked into the Mansion, looking for a towel he lost himself in the kitchen.
Mez was dripping wet when he walked through the door Freddy right at his side. "G-g-good m-morning" Mez stammered a half-smile coming from his face, to Karika and Emma. Mez half-stepped to the closet and found a towel, putting it over his neck, Mez's shoes made a funny but distinct "squishy" sound with each step. Searching Mez saw a pot of hot coffee laying innocently by itself. Mez found a porcelain cup and poured some of the incredibly dark liquid into the cup. Just the heat from it made him feel better. Finding a seat across from them, he put the towel over him and tightened it around his body and kept his head low, sipping coffee to embarassed to speak.

OOC: Lol, I hope you have some fun with her at least
The woman was nice smelling too! Oh boy, Karika was excited now. "My, you are really quite without personal boundaries. I wonder who let you off your leash." Smiling, she shook her head. "No leash." She pointed to her neck. "Now." Which really meant, 'No I don't wear a leash anymore'. But, eh, whatever the woman interpreted it as was fine with Karika...she was still angry that she couldn't communicate, though she understood every word spoken, but with such a beauteous day at hand, how could she be angry?
"You remind me of someone" "Do you have a name girl?" Nodding vigorously, she pointed to herself. "Karika Yashida...not X-23." She said strongly, making it very obvious that she was no longer the latter. Karika was a bright child, it was very obvious...but when it came to the social aspects of life...whoo, she SUCKED. "You name?" She asked, still watching her.
Continuing to play with Emma's lovely hair gently, she listened as the woman spoke. "You know that you could have hair like this if you washed your hair and combed it." "Or you might need a bit more work than that, but you have potential." Now that confused her. "No, hair not shiny." She said, fingering over the massively messy tangle she had on her head and then touching Emma's again. "Shiny!" Karika just smiled...maybe the woman didn't understand.
Suddenly, a stinky smell came from the door. A wet smell...it smelled like...WET DOG. Turning, she frowned. Oh that Mez, he was always smelling like...Karika did a double take. There was a dog! A real live dog! "G-g-good m-morning" Letting go of Emma's hair she bounced over and sniffed at the dog. "Oooh!" She said and threw her arms around the dog. "Hiiii!!!!" She yelled and buried her face in him...smelly or not.
Oh the things that ferals did. Karika was a sight to be seen.

Quote:"G-g-good m-morning" Mez stammered a half-smile coming from his face, to Karika and Emma.
"Good morning" Emma said, amused, a smirk curling the corners of her lips "Did you have a nice swim" she asked, raising a perfectly shaped eyebrow, her voice tinged slightly with mockery. She looked him slowly up and down, her intention to make him squirm a little bit more.
"No leash." She pointed to her neck. "Now." Which really meant, 'No I don't wear a leash anymore'.
Anymore? Emma thought quizzically as her attention turned to the young girl bounding around in front of her. Her interest in the girl was heightened even more as she watched her carefully. The answers to Emma's questions came hesitantly as Karika struggled to communicate with her. She thought it might be easy just to connect with her telepathically, but something about her told that would a very bad idea.
"You name?" She asked, still watching her.
She understood the girl clearly and smiled at her "Emma" she told the girl, pointing to herself "Emma Frost". She watched the young girl prance away to play with the dog, smiling faintly as she sat back in her chair and sipped some more of her coffee.

"Oooh!" She said and threw her arms around the dog. "Hiiii!!!!" She yelled and buried her face in him...smelly or not.
Freddy the Dog just kept waging his tail incessantly. His large tongue hung out of his mouth like an ornament and he was still panting from the run. Karika didn't bother him. Mez looked down unable to resist a light chuckle. Karika didn't really have much in the way of...social limitations. "Karika meet Freddy, Freddy meet Karika." It would seem strange that he was actually introducing the German Shepherd. Fred barked twice up at Mez. "Das my dawg." Mez said holding his fist out for a dap, or at least the best Freddy could give back.
"Good morning" Emma said, amused, a smirk curling the corners of her lips "Did you have a nice swim" she asked, raising a perfectly shaped eyebrow, her voice tinged slightly with mockery. She looked him slowly up and down, her intention to make him squirm a little bit more.
Mez smiled at Emma's greeting her voice with a bit of sarcasm as she stared at him, head to toe "Oh, the water was lovely." Mez said with a bright smile "You should try it." He took another sip of heavenly coffee. James decided to tell her the real reason for being soaked. "I tried to pretend I was Jesus and walk on the water" He explained. "But I uh..." Mez tried to think of a way to say it besides the obivous. "tripped" was all he could say.
He was feeling a bit better, not nearly as cold but still soaked. He'd have to get rid of his clothes. He'd planned on changing after the run but getting drenched wasn't part of that plan. He took the towel off from his head and folded it up neatly. "What're you two up to this fine morning?" He asked both of them.

Another smile quirked the corner of her lips as the young man described his little escapade. She would have to stop that, she'd get lines around her mouth if she kept smiling like this.
"Well, you know what they say; 'Pride comes before a fall'. And it seems in your case, that it was a very spectacular fall" she said, her eyes glinting with amusement.
He took the towel off from his head and folded it up neatly. "What're you two up to this fine morning?" He asked both of them.
"I have always been a early riser, I thought I'd get some morning air before the rest of the Mansion wakes up. As for this little one, I'm not sure what she is up to." Emma answered, glancing down at X-23 as she spoke. Turning her attention back to the young man, she slipped easily back into the role of a teacher.
"You need to work on your concentration, it is wonderful that you are trying to push your gift as far as it will go but you might need some additional help. If you want to try again I could come along and help you or we could experiment in the Danger Room" she offered, taking another sip of her coffee and watching Mez carefully.

Mez couldn't help but chuckle that was all too true. The young man probably knew that better than anyone, too many times had his pride got him into trouble. James got up from the table and walked over to the fridge. Opening it up he looked for some leftover steak. Turning around Freddy's stomach growled loudly and he barked, after a run the dog needed something to eat. "Ssst!" Mez called, setting the plate down. Freddy come over to the steak and wolfed it down as fast as he could.
"I have always been a early riser, I thought I'd get some morning air before the rest of the Mansion wakes up. As for this little one, I'm not sure what she is up to."
"Probably just her habits too." Mez said shrugging. Gabrielle went back into the fridge and brought out some orange juice and poured himself a glass before sitting bacl down.

Mez half ready to take a swig from his glass put it down to answer, with a half-smile. " Thanks ma'am I'd appreciate any help I can get." He said "I'd really love to try out the Danger Room, see if its as cool as everyone says it is. I got to tell you if we use the Danger Room I'm going to be like a little kid in a Candy Store in there. As soon as you're head turns I guarantee you I'll be pushing every button I can find."
Background: Many, many years ago, Charles Francis Xavier established Xavier's School for the Gifted. Also, seeing other Mutants misusing and abusing their powers, he created the first generation of the X-Men.This original team was trained and lead by an old friend of his...Logan, aka Wolverine. Logan's co-leader was a young woman and student named Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. Once the team was trained and fielded on active missions, they took on the additional responsibility of teaching and helping new Mutants deal with their powers. On one horrible night, the X-Men were fielded to stop a particularly powerful Mutant and his 'gang'. The 'intelligence' received on this Mutant and his cohorts was sketchy and actually turned out to be a set-up to entrap the X-Men and take them captive. In the ensuing melee', 'things' happened and a number of the team were killed outright or severely injured. After making sure his remaining team-mates were going to be okay, Logan left. Xavier has not, to current time, explained his absence or even whether or not he survived.Current Time/Game Time: Almost seven years later, as Human/Mutant incidents are on the rise, Xavier once again sees a need for a Mutant 'police force'. He sees this new X-Men team as a force for good and a way to help peacefully integrate the rapidly emerging Mutant society with the established Human society. To this end, he has contacted Logan and asked him to 'come home' and train his 'new' team.
Logan has reluctantly agreed. Can shadows from their past be put aside for the good of the new X-Men? How will the surviving members of the original team react and what will they do as 'truths' are learned about that disastrous night?Note: We want the new X-Men to include younger versions of the old familiar characters such as Scott, Jean, Beast etc...as well as many of the OCC’s and other Canon characters that are available. Please ask the Staff BEFORE stating or establishing that your character was one of the old, now disbanded, original X-Men.
