I have to go back and reread all the books but I can't remember why Justin DuMorne was trying to get Harry under his thrall. What purpose would it have served? Had they fallen out? I think there is something very special about Harry that he isn't aware of that Justin wanted to take control of.

Justin had been an apprentice to Simon Pietrovich so therefore he must have had the White Council's respect at least initially. I have to wonder at how he had gotten so far off track and they didn't notice it and let him keep teaching two young apprentices. I wonder if this speaks to a possible corruption within the White Council that they were aware of what he was doing and didn't stop him.

Of course the White Council can't know everything or else they would know that Harry was one of the good guys. Mind you their definition of "good guy" may be different from our perception.

There's a little bit in "Summer Knight" about Justin - Harry's talking to someone - I wanna say Murphy -

However, I'm still not entilrey clear why Justin wanted Harry under his 'thrall' - except just as a control thing.

Elaine said that she was under Justin's influence (early in "SK" - I don't quite recall what she says later) -- and she was 'convinced' to help get Harry ---

I think Justin might have been one of those control freaks - or he was terribly paranoid - and figured that if he didn't control his apprentices that they might overpower him, or run off and whine to the Council -- which, was probably true -- but anyway --- we might have to wait for the next bit to see if there's more about Justin.....
