Re: Life in Minas Tirith RP
It was early in the morning. Well, it was early morning for most people. For Thanes and his Master it felt more like mid-day. Seveal hours of work already were behind them, and now Thanes was on the way to deliver fresh bread to several household. The basket that he carried on his back and another one in his hand were heavy with delicious smelling loafs. The smell made him remember that by now he had again worked up an appetite befitting a 15 year old. But alas, he would have to wait for a while longer and finish with the work first.
New Character
Name: Feldamir
Age: 14
Apprenticed to her mother, Felda, who runs an orphanage near the House of Healing in Minas Tirith. She helps with the washing and general care of those children under the age of 9, of which there are 5. She also helps in the kitchens, to make sure the stores of food are kept up, and the orphanage subsists mainly on donations and what they can make themselves.
Re: Life in Minas Tirith RP
Feldamir was *tired* of being so busy chasing younglings all over the place, for today two of her sisters had gone into the hills to collect berries just ripening, to put away for later after they made some pies for their after dinner treat. That left only Feldamir to watch over the "under-nines"--and they were in a mischievous mood, which meant she did not get to do anything but chase after them.
The baker's apprentice, Thanes, was due by any moment, and she wanted to at least present a tidy appearance for him, for he seemed older and yet younger than herself, and was just about to grow, if you studied the size of his hands and feet. He would be a tall one! And she blushed, because she liked him. A little. All boys were pains, but she was growing up just like Thanes was, and maybe she didn't think he was as much a pain as she had in the past. When they had thrown apples at each other and even laughed!
Now she blushed and stayed fairly quiet in his presence. But she was always grateful for the bread, and she knew her mother was too. Feldamir tried to make bread, but it was hard to make *enough*--and she could not bear to see the children going hungry.
Thanes would be there soon! She dashed away long enough to make sure her hair was combed and her apron was straight before hurrying back out--just in time to catch a muddy ball thrown by one of the little who was playing in the mud near the water pump. She sighed. Now her apron was muddy too.
But little Carnen was a real mess. She went over to him and said, "Let us clean you up," and led him back to the pump. "Hungry!" shouted Carnen, and Feldamir nodded, very like her mother would have, and used the same tone of voice. "When you are cleaned up we will see what there is to eat.*After* you have cleaned up, not before. Come." And she took his muddy little hand and began to wash first one, then the other.
Re: Life in Minas Tirith RP
The way he chose was not very efficient, and if his Master learned of it Thanes would surely be treated to another lecture about wasting his time. Still, he went out of his way to make sure that he went to the Fifth Circle last - especially the Northern Part. Often he stayed here longer than expected, and that was much easier when there was not another half basket waiting to be delivered.
"Hello?" he called once he reached the doorway to the small yard that lead to the orphanage. He had learned the hard way that it was a good idea to announce his presence before entering. Then there was a 'chance' that someone would restore order and he would not have a toddler run between his feet at first sight and topple him, which sent most of his load flying the first time. Now he was not carrying much that could go flying, but he would still prefer to go without toddlers between his legs. "It's me, Thanes. I am bringing the bread."
