I really don't understand the hesitation or the unwillingness to put Mark Dobies on contract. Heck, he has more story and airtime than half the contract cast, INCLUDING RJ and Lindsay. Daniel has grown on me since he came to Llanview in the summer of 2003, and I really enjoy him now. I think Mark is a talented actor and is a great addition to the cast. Let's see, as a recurring character, Daniel has: - A son, Riley, who is on contract - Dealt with a bad relationship with his son and gotten on better terms with him - Overcome an alcohol addiction through AA - Beat out Nora in a race for District Attorney - Progressed from a grumpy, doesn't-care-about anyone D.A. to a little more caring, understanding man - Dated Lindsay, ended because he found out she was sleeping with Rex - Is dating, and now is engaged, to Nora - Is apparently a mole for the Chandlers on AMC, which means he not only is connected to OLTL, yet he is to AMC as well - Apparently also has political aspirations, as discussed with the Governor a few weeks back about how Nora at his side would be a big help for him Now... I don't understand how they can expect a recurring character to be vital to so many stories. If there were no Daniel, there would be pretty much nothing standing between Bo and Nora. Nora wouldn't have a love life, a fiancee. There would be no mole for the Chandlers, etc. Daniel was in 11 episodes last month, more than Nora, Viki, Marcie, Dorian, Michael, Lindsay, RJ, Riley, Jen, Duke, David, Adriana, Starr, and Asa; who are ALL ON CONTRACT. That's more than half the cast. Honestly, it doesn't make any sense. Either treat Mark with enough respect and give him a contract; or stop treating him like a contract player without having the decency to actaully put him on contract!

I agree, Heed - I would have liked to see MD on contract. At this point though, I think it really looks like they are sacrificing Daniel for the sake of reuniting Bo & Nora, so who knows what will be left of his character once the dust settles.   Between the various story rewrites and the regime change, they could never decided what directions to go with Daniel long enough to think if they wanted him around long term. And I'm not sure if they know YET if they want him around long term or not. But yeah, I like MD as an actor & think he deserves to be on contract.

I would love for Mark Dobies to be put on contract. I love the character Daniel and want to see him around for a while.

Hey Snappy, welcome to the board! Yeah... if they're really going to put Nora back with Bo, which is what it looks like, then they really just need to get Daniel away WITHOUT destroying him. There are tons of ways to do it logically without having one of the parties eliminated competely (which is what happened with the quad... no more Cristian. Now with this quad; no more Paige or Daniel?!?!) Getting rid of Paige wouldn't be too hard because she has no connection to the show. Don't ruin Daniel

Good news! It's just been announced that Mark Dobies has been upped to contract status. Good for Mark! I hope they add him to the opening, then.
