Me and my theories - NM & VOTN - the fans
I edited this to bring it up to date... cuz maybe it got lost in the shuffle.. think TPTB are doing this?
********************
I dunno if you'll find my musings of interest, but.. bear with me, this can't be said in one sentence... sorry...
You know how we've been talking about there being too many VOTN and NM similarities? We've joked about it, as well as wondered if we are guinea pigs...
Ok, well, those who follow the latest about the world of theatre are long familiar with this idea that the future of theatre lies in having more audience interaction, or it will become extinct, or having art taken out of the equation to cater to an elite group of theatre goers ... long story, but I hope I've simplified it to its most basic terms..
I don't think it would be farfetched to say soaps face a similar predicament. There was even talk about OLTL being cancelled for a reality soap opera... Times are a changin...
I know that Kathy Brier did her homework, getting in touch with who fans are so she could play Marcie loving Jen that way... and VOTN and Midnight Logic have stories about fans...
2 + 2 = 4 guys. Now I'm not saying that NM's departure was a hoax, but maybe all that we've done has been mirrored into the storyline because that's the writers' vision. In some strange way, it does cause the effect of audience interaction, and it also does what art is SUPPOSED to do... reflect society, though the machine sometimes stands in the way of that purpose... (For example, "cut" and "action" in the middle of an emotional moment, and "backstage politics"). AND, Nathaniel loving his fans... well... maybe he knows ALL TOO WELL it IS about the audience, and not JUST for numbers, but because he plays TO his audience, a key ingredient to being a great actor.
