Nate did RIGHT by us... awesome guy! Coincidence?
Nathaniel's thanks to the fans in the SOW is just classy. I really think he's a remarkable person and everything I read just confirms it...

These are quotes from Nathaniel:

Nathaniel: "so that you can maybe put a smile on someone's face or help them through a tough time"

His inspiration got me through a tough time, and I'd like to think he knew he did that, and I often wrote here "and at the end of my thought [about him] is always a smile"

Nathaniel: "I'll probably spend two or three weeks up in the woods, in the jungle. Take my big bag of rice, my fishing pole, and my spear and go up to the hills. I'll stay up there for a while and think on things, then come back and start all over again."

I went on extended camping trips this past summer because of needing to think about my own life and posted here about how "you don't know what peace is until you are in front of a fire overlooking a glassy lake with the moon shimmering on it"

I don't know if he read our stuff, or its all a big coincidence, but... Even as he leaves... he is just so real, just like he is with his fans... I will always be amazed at how much I relate to him (not like I don't relate to non-celebs too because there are many people with these particular ideals, but he's famous, and as real as us.. is my point) I will never wonder why it was Nathaniel Marston that inspired me to change my life...

I am going to miss being able to talk about his performances... I hope somehow he'll let us know what he's doing next when he decides... so we can look forward to more of his talent. I told him at the Luncheon that I hoped he'd let us know because we were interested in whatever projects he works on.

yeah it does make you wonder, doesn't it.
whether what he said is a coincidence or not...I know I've mentioned on here before that he always puts a smile on my face. I especially remember saying it when it was his bday. Said it here and on the tagboard on NMO. and what he said about helping people get through tough times, that must really hit home with you, char. and then what he said about spending time and think on things. but he also mentioned that he had wanted to do that over the 4th of July vacation so maybe that's something he's had in his head for a while now. All this does get you thinking though. Perhaps he has stopped in on this site and read what we have to say, we have no way of knowing if one of those guests visiting the board is indeed him.

I completely understand where you are coming from here. It just is so rare to find someone is his position that can seem so real to us not so famous folks. The fact that we feel like we can relate to him so much is incredible in itself especially since we really don't know the guy. and you're right, I also won't wonder why it was Nathaniel Marston who inspired me as well.

I too hope he does manage to let us know what projects he may be working on in the future. I will enjoy any opportunity to be able to talk about his work.

Oh, I know that he didn't talk about the jungle camping because of us.. but I switched gears and didn't communicate well.. The first quote was about wondering if he came here and knew, and the second was the coincidence issue.. I was just trippin that he was into camping to re-assess his life... after I did the same thing.. I was reading at the booth that he did an interview back in the day.. something about running camping store to help his brother get set up... just really interesting. I am over my emotional responses about him, but I find it odd that I relate to him so much.. but maybe that's why I related to Al in the first place...

well, maybe it was me that worded it wrong.
I kinda grouped it all together and maybe shouldn't have. I know that the whole jungle thing had nothing to do with him coming here. But maybe he brought it up cause he knew that there are people who could relate to getting away from it all, of course I could be completely wrong on that but I just thought it could have been a possibility. And also the putting smiles on people's faces and helping them through tough times could just as likely be a coincidence. Maybe the likliness of either one of those is slim to none.

So, really it wasn't an issue whether you were saying those things, I just added what my takes were were. Just didn't get it out correctly, which isn't new with me.

you know what it is.... its...
its that, even if he never read a thing here, and had NO idea that we related to what he was saying other than the usual blah blah blah, make a difference in people's lives, and blah blah blah... I'm gonna do this when I leave the show in case inquiry-minds-want-to-know... blah blah blah... it would even be MORE UNCANNY... because we were talking about stuff like that here... so which is more interesting? That he knew, or that he didn't?

Things that make you go hmmmm...

You know, a dream is like a river, ever changing as it flows
And the dreamer is just a vessel, that must follow where it goes
Trying to learn from what's behind you, and never knowing what's in store
And each day is a constant battle, just to stay between the shores
And I will sail my vessel, until the water runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind, these waters are my sky
I'll never reach my destination, if I never try
So I will sail my vessel, until the water runs dry
Too many times we stand aside and let the water flow away
What we put off until tomorrow, has now become today
So don't you sit upon the shoreline, and say you're satisfied
Choose to chance the rapids, and dare to dance the tides
