Surrender to Love
Relive Nikolas and Emily's life-altering night of passion!
There was magic in the air the night of Port Charles' charity costume ball. Dressed as a sexy swashbuckler, Nikolas couldn't take his eyes off Emily, looking every bit the princess she was dressed as. But when sitting on the sidelines as the beauty danced with her husband became too much to bear, Nikolas did what any pirate would do: He swept down upon the maiden and claimed her as his own by cutting on the couple! Disgusted, Zander stepped aside, leaving Emily free to be wooed by her would-be lover.
After sharing a dance, the two escaped to the relative privacy of a balcony, where they became lost in passionate kisses. "I love you," Emily confessed breathlessly. "I tried to deny it, but I can't any more." Then unable to face her feelings, she dashed away from the scene, leaving behind a thrilled and yet abandoned Nikolas.
Love Interrupted
Retreating to the cottage, Emily lit a candle and was startled when the door was flung open by Nikolas. Reaching for his ring finger, the newly free man declared, "My divorce is finalized today. You didn't see me put this ring on my finger, but I wanted you to see me take it off." Removing the symbol of his brief marriage to Lydia, Nikolas knelt next to the woman he truly loved, declaring, "I'm free to love you with my whole heart."
Their lips me and their passion blossomed, only to be nipped in the bud when Zander stormed into the room. "Please, don't let me stop you," he said. "I just want Emily to look me in the face and admit this is what she wanted all along."
Obviously pained, Emily tried to explain her feelings. But Zander refused to listen, to understand, until at last his wife was forced to declare their marriage over. "I love Nikolas. And I want to be with him. Only him."
Hurt, Zander turned to leave, but not before having the last word. "Good-bye Emily Quartermaine. Go to hell...and take your boyfriend with you!"
The Point of No Return
With Zander gone, Nikolas and Emily were left at the crossroads, unsure whether to proceed slowly or race into one another's arms. "If we sleep together right now, and you're sorry afterward, it'll crush me, " he admitted. "So, if you feel that that may happen, I'd rather just wait than have you regret making love to me."
Confirming that they wanted the rest of their lives to begin at that moment, Emily too, slipped off her wedding ring. "I love you, Nikolas. And I want to love you with my soul and with my heart, my body. Every way we can be together. I won't regret tonight. I'll treasure it." With her words of love lingering in the air, the couple melted into one another's arms.
And They Lived Happily Ever After...
Having made love, the Cassadine prince took Emily into his arms as they contemplated all they had withstood in the name of love. "The best fairy tales are variations on one story," Emily sighed. "There's this girl, and, for whatever reason, something's not right in her life. She's lost a parent or she's locked in a tower or she has to sweep floors. And then come the witches and the poisoned applesand sleeping for a hundred years. Then, after all her mistakes are behind her - and, trust me, some of these girls may make huge mistakes - if she's very, very lucky, the girl gets her prince."
Caressing her hair, Nikolas interjected a different perspective. "If you look at it from the prince's point of view, he's facing a lieftime of duty and loneliness until a spell, a witch, a poisoned apple, whatever, and then everything changes. He remains steadfast and honorable. And also very, very lucky. The prince gets his girl."
Words To Remember
Nikolas: They say you can't miss what you never had. But I don't really believe that that's true. I missed love my whole life until I had it with you. I feel that it would've been worse if I'd have had love and then lost it. No matter how bad I want you right now, I want a future with you a whole lot more.
Emily: Can't tonight be the beginning of our future?
Nikolas: Yes.
*sigh* Now I have to go watch my tapes again LOL!
