Paul Shaffer, musical director for "The Late Show With David Letterman," will host two benefit-tribute concerts for Mike Smith, lead singer and keyboard player for the Dave Clark Five, who suffers from spinal cord injuries after an accident at his home in Spain in 2003. The Aug. 2 concert at B.B. King Blues Club and Grill in New York will feature performances by The Zombies, Peter and Gordon, Billy J. Kramer, original Moody Blues lead singer Denny Laine and The Beatles cover band the Fab Faux. Clear the clothes racks: Ryan Seacrest is joining the label brigade. The 30-year-old "American Idol" host, who says he's always had a taste for fashion, is now offering his own line of men's and women's T's, tanks and distressed polo shirts as well as sweaters, reports USA Today. From E! Online: Norman Whitfield, the Motown Records producer who co-wrote the R&B classics "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" and "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," was sentenced on Monday to six months of home detention for failing to report more than $4 million in songwriting royalties to the IRS.
