Promotion...
Being a member of two clubs here within my region I KNOW when the horse shows are, but it's extremely important for AHA to allocate some sort of funds, via sponsorships or what ever it takes to promote the shows, to run an ad in papers or is it's a Regional Championship and you want the public to see the 'glitz and glamour' to advertise these shows OUTSIDE of the normal club channels. Same goes for Nationals!!! The people can't come and experience the Arabian Horse if they don't know when a show is.

I think AHA is trying harder to reach the general public. I get a local paper called "Farm and Dairy" that covers northeast Ohio and western Pa. In the past three months, there have been several articles in this paper that promote the youth programs from AHA. The most recent issue had a nice article about the new scholarship program for youth riding Sweepstakes horses. I don't know how effective these attempts are, but at least the attempt is being made. That's my 2 cents. Linda

Re: Promotion...
I agree that in some minor instances, that's what they're doing, but they could be doing SO much more. For instance, we had the R8 Championships here last month, NO ONE was in the stands...Why? Because no type of advertising was done...NONE. The entries were basically showing to each other.
Someone at AHA needs to be held accountable for advertising, for getting sponsors, the Youth Nationals a while back was reportedly going to be paid for by Coors, but since it was the "YOUTH" AHA opted not to use them...screw that!!!
If a corporation offers to pay for the show then that would put ads in newspapers, possible TV spots, etc. and in turn more folks would turn out, more folks would be able to afford showing because some of the costs would be offset by the sponsor.
If they can run ads in their magazines, in the World, etc, why can't they run an ad for Regional Championships, and Nationals, etc in a paper here and there, so people would attend and see how versatile the Arabian Horse is.
I can go on, and on, reply and I just might...
