While we could speculate endlessly, the best thing is to prepare for the end times. Have faith in God, and the Lord Jesus, and put our faith ahead of our fears.

A better question would be, what will happen to the millions of Catholics who ask men to forgive their sins, not God. This is what they do, when they go into confession. Only God can forgive sin, if asked in the name of Jesus.
