SOD has some GREAT NEWS!
Tink102 from The Booth... got this from Soap Zone:
There's an article about Nathaniel in the new SOD. Al does die. However he will appear as a ghost. His first ghostly appearance will be to Marcie at his funeral on September 29.
According to set insiders tptb have heard the fan outcry about Nathaniel's firing. They mentioned fan letters and petitions. Nathaniel is now in heavy negotiations to remain on the show long term. He will be a NEW character...NOT Al. The new character will have ties to Marcie.

Aside from the fact that I'd find the possibilites of NM playing someone else fascinating to NO END.... and would go either way... I truly DO empathize with Al loving Marcie...
You remember.. I'm Marcal #41 because, in the beginnning, I couldn't IMAGINE how these two could be a couple, but love DID win... love transcended reality... The fact that Marcal seems possible to me is a window of my soul opening up to something more beautiful than I thought I was capable of... and I have two VERY FINE actors to thank for that... I beleive in them wholeheartedly... I believe they have the talent... and you have to know.. those writers DO know how to write for them.. not THEIR fault they had to write Al's demise! The rest has been SO GREAT, that I couldnt find anything to put in my fan fiction that would be WORTHY.
And if we don't see NM's new character get with Marcie right away... let it be our long term commitment to support these amazing actors and their performances until the day that their characters connect logically... and not some forced way...
I'm in total agreement with everything you've said.
It took me awhile but I have finally come to terms with the fact that Al will most likely die and we may not get Marcal back.
The important thing is that I strongly believe that we have Nathaniel back. That is what we have been striving for. I will take Nathaniel anyway I can get him.
I'm sure a few of the Marcals are disappointed about not getting Nathaniel back as "Al Holden"(if it's true of course), but we should all be happy that we have most likely played a HUGE part in saving a man's job and still getting what we want in the process, which was to have KB and NM together onscreen.
Who knows, soaps are a mish mash of reality and fantasy, so for all we know, he may end up being Al again after all is said and done.
I'm just going to keep the faith and see how this plays out as long as I can have Nathaniel and the wonderful chemistry between he and Kathy, back on my screen long term. Nathaniel and Kathy are two actors who can rise to the challenge of taking even the most mediocre of material and turning it into solid gold.

Sometimes I forget that... yes.. it COULD definitely happen
for all we know, he may end up being Al again after all is said and done
didn't Tony Geary come back to GH as his COUSIN before returning to Luke and and reuniting with Laura?
(personally I can't stand this couple, but its proof that it HAPPENS)
And take it from me... who fell for a soap couple when I was like 11 years old, and dreamed about them getting back together for almost 20 years.. they finally had their moment although it faded because I was like the ONLY one who wanted the pairing, but it happened even for a LONER like me... but with a gazillion fans wanting it? Just a matter of time especially if he stays on the canvas.
See, if we lose NM.. I'm afraid he'll be too busy to come back.. I'm not all "Nate so fine, he all dat" noooooo.... he's TRULY one of those rare finds... talent is only 10% innate... (in nate, lol) and as they say 90% dedication and hard work.. well.. that's not true either.. some people have this gift... to see into the life of things.. NM has that in spades... its that same part of him that makes fans feel so good about themselves in his presense.. I saw that in him.. and never really tried to describe to others before cuz I wasn't sure anyone would follow, afraid people would think I'm more of a fruitloop than I really am.. hope you get it.. (though I like being nutty... nuts about Nathaniel.. krazy about Kathy)

As in my other post...
from seeing his performances and thinking this guy deserves a better story and screen partner... and getting it
from seeing his empty auditorium and short lines at SSW and thinking this has to be the twilight zone since everybody in every line could only talk about Al and Marcie and seeing how wonderful he is with his fans.. to seeing his NEVERENDING line at the Luncheon, and getting the article in the SOW, as if a letter of love to his fans...
from the tears we wept together as we held hands here and at the booth at the news of his departure and the subsequent ups and downs of the Dataloungers and rumors, to the cover of the SID...
I wouldn't have missed it for the world, and I'm not going anywhere.. what a ride its been

I agree wholeheartedly with you ladies, I will definitely take NM anyway, anyhow. It is terribly sad that Al will have to die because Nathaniel definitely made Al his own and no one can ever doubt the greatness that was, is and always will be, Marcal. But I will absolutely be happy getting to see Nathaniel's talents(among other things ) on a regular basis and still getting to watch the incredible chemistry between him and Kathy will be amazing. Granted it will not be Marcal and that will be greatly missed but getting to watch these two acting together will still be a tremendous thing no matter how the characters are connected.
As I said in another post, I thought the ghost thing was just a temporary filler to keep NM on the show until they decided what they wanted to do with him. and this might be the case indeed.
Though, Al will be missed in my heart, I say bring on the new character. There will be tons of opportunities involved in developing a new character with NM in the role. I can hardly wait.

You got that right, Tina. Who knows what will happen. One thing that we have come to learn from soaps is that anything can and usually will happen. so, ya never know.
One thing that has got me thinking or wondering, however you want to put it, is the idea of NM playing a new character who will have ties to Marcie. I've read at a couple places that there will be no twin, so my questions are then, who exactly will NM be playing, how will the character be connected to Marcie and how will the explain him looking exactly like Al if he's not gonna be a twin? I know, as I just said, that it is a soap and ANYTHING could happen.
So, alls I gotta say is if Nathaniel is gonna be staying on the canvas, BRING IT ON!!!
