SPOILERS!!! Reader Review of 'Dead Beat' (uncorrected proof)
OK so I cheated, I couldn't wait any longer and bought the uncorrected proof on Ebay (I know I am a very bad person but I will be buying the book when it comes out as well).
S P O I L E R S ! ! S P O I L E R S ! ! S P O I L E R S ! !
I don't know if he'll ever get to see this but can I just say a big 'THANK YOU!!!!' to the esteemed Mr Jim Butcher for 'Dead Beat', I absolutely LOVED it!!! The best book of the Dresden Files yet! Vamps, werewolves, wizards and SO many more types of baddies (sorry not telling) and even a, no I won't tell you about this taller than average female either! Not to mention Polka, lol!
Loved the character development of Butters, and nearly had a FIT, laughing over his zen comment, nope not telling you that either. We must see more of him and his unexpectedly hilarious one liners!
The statuesque female-deadlier-than-the-male was positively brilliant, (although I wasn't quite sure how she ceased what she was doing after Bob left her, and Harry had also let her go but that is a very minor niggle).
Otherwise, stars & stones, it is the best book I have read in a LONG time. Action packed and the pace set was adrenalin pumping, with just enough change of pace to stop me having a heart attack. When can I see it televised as a series or tele movie? Or on the big screen even, it would make a great movie - so long as they don't try to change anything, that would be sacrilege!!
Hm, I posted that there were spoilers, but sorry, it is just TOO good a book to completely spoil the pleasure for you - you're just gonna have to read it yourself.
OK, I guess you get the idea that I kinda like this book. So thank you once again and if you get the chance, please tell Mr B to keep writing about Harry and his adventures,
from a VERY grateful fan

PS: Buy this book, pre-order it on-line, demand your bookshop to stock it, lobby your library for it, - but read this book! You'll be glad you did!
