Some guidelines for this forum
The following is needed for your assistance and guidance as well as mine!
The following are 'guidelines' to getting the most from the Cool Tricks and Tips Forums.
The forums are here for users/admins to post, and discuss any Cool Tips and Tricks they may know, or wish to know how to implement on their boards.
Subject Titles
Please post your Topic with a suitable Subject Title,
instead of 'Help!' or 'Please help me' or 'How do you?'
try and be more explicit with the subject title.
e.g. How do I use glowing text for custom titles?
By using explicit Subject Titles, your Topic has a much higher chance of being answered quickly and efficiently
If you have some HTML or Javascript code on your board, post the code in the Topic, rather than placing a link to
your board. (External board linking makes Support Forum users 'stray' from the Support Forum, therefor other users do not benefit, not everyone will follow the link)
Try and help the User here, rather than on your own board or via e-mail, if at all possible.
You may have to spend some extra time altering your code to ensure it shows correctly within a post.
Blocked Code
If posting any blocked Javascript or HTML, be aware that the code may not show and that replacement of certain characters may help.
e.g.
Use { and } instead of the less than and greater than operators.
Remove any 'comment lines or code'
Script tags should work if you include * within the tags
e.g.
<*script>
<*/script>
and
Style tags may need square brackets instead of < and >
[style] [/style]
Using HTML and Javascript code on your board.
I suggest you create a test board, seperate to your live board. Always try any code on the test board before using it on your 'live' board.
Always validate any code before using it.
There are several online validation services. Here are 3:
HTML Help
W3C Validator
HTML Kit - inc validator
If any of you have used one of these and found it unreliable, or if you have used another service and think it's better, please send an e-mail to [mail=don@nutrocker.co.uk]nutrocker[/mail]
There are also downloadable validators, and validators that are part of HTML editors.

Graphics and web hosting
A lot of web hosts are now blocking images being remote loaded or linked to from web sites other than the web hosts own servers.
Try looking at this list from ezboards faq forum.
Or delve through this lot from Google.
More
1.) If you have any questions about a specific board, put the URL of the board up so you can get help more quickly. It's not easy for others to help you figure out whether the colors look weird or whatever if we don't know what board you're referring to. WITHOUT TRYING TO ADVERTISE!
2.) While it's easy to get frustrated if you are upset or confused, you may get faster and more positive responses if you act mature in your post. Saying something to the effect of "I'm really angry about ____" will get you better answers than the angry face and "You stink!"
3.) Before you post, CHECK around the help forums to see if your question has already been addressed. I can't tell you the number of times I've gone into a post only to see someone saying "Go read ____ thread".
4.) NO, you do not HAVE to pay for ezboard's services at this time. YES, if you don't pay you will have lots of pop-up ads on your board. YES, they are annoying. NO, no one is forcing you to do anything. Bottom line, in order to continue offering services, many online companies are having to come up with new strategies to keep from sinking into oblivion. Pay and get no ads, or don't pay and shut up about the ads. High school economics teachers will tell you, there's no such thing as free lunch. Get over it.
5.) If you find an ezboard may be violating the Terms of Service, don't put their URLs on the help boards. It only garners "free advertising" for the boards in question. Instead, send possible TOS violator's URLs to Legal Form If YOUR board was shut down for a violation of the TOS, go and READ the TOS. Whining on a public help forum won't get your board back. Follow the rules and you should be fine.
6.) Don't SHOUT in your posts. Translation: typing in ALL CAPS is considered shouting online. Unless you are bleeding profusely or on fire, keep the tone down.
Quote: I agree with them all eccept #6. What if their shift and caps lock are broken?
If the above is the case then please say so. Many people do NOT like to see topic's all in CAPS! Thanks.
7.) Keep the profanity to a minimum. It's been rare, but I have seen people banned from forums for over-the-top language.

Forum Moderator Duties
Just in case someone thinks or has been thinking, why was my post deleted? or moved, or edited? Please Read the following..
The Cool Tips & Tricks Forum Moderators may have to..
Remove Advertising Topics or Posts
Posts or Topics considered as advertising will be edited or deleted, spam will be deleted and continuous spam offenders reported to ezboard and MAY result in the user account being banned from the support forums.
Please read this Advertising
NOTE: A small link to your board using ezcodes may be permitted as a sig within a post, as long as your post or reply is a legitimate attempt to help or solve another fellow admin or user problem or query. If I see this practice getting out of hand I will edit the posts concerned.
Move Topics
Topics considered to have been posted in the wrong forum will be moved to the
correct forum and the user informed, either within the originating forum or by e-mail.
The Cool Tips and Tricks moderators will try and answer the query before moving the Topic.
Close Topics
Topics will be closed if the query has been addressed and users keep replying to it, or if a user keeps bumping it up to the top and the Topic has been addressed, or if the Topic is used for anything that is not pertaining to the original question.
Topics may be closed if considered complete, or solved. This will stop the bumping up of Topics or users 'kidnapping a thread.'
Delete Topics
Topics will be deleted for the following reasons:
Spam / Advertising.
Topics that are derogatory to other users.
Duplicate Topics from the same user.
Any post that is considered inappropriate for a public forum.
I hope that the above helps you.
Many thanks for your continued help and assistance in making ezboard the best online community on the net
