Steve on being a daddy :)
GENERAL HOSPITAL'S Steve Burton (Jason) shares with Soaps In Depth his first thoughts on welcoming a baby girl into the world.
The In Depth Story: You read the happy news first at SoapsInDepth.com: Burton's wife, Sheree delivered their first child, named Makena Grace, on September 5 at 2:02 p.m. PST- aka smack dab in the middle of the opening credits of that day's GH! The newborn weighte in at 6lbs., 14 oz.
"Everybody is great!" declares the actor, still reeling from the special euphoria of becoming a frist-time father. "It's so incredible- I have an undonditional love for a new person in my life."
"Kids are awesome," he adds witha big smile, "especially when it's your own."
Did Burton deem himself ready for the onset of fatherhood, even with nine months of mental preparation? "I worked with baby Micheal [on GH] for the first eight months of his life," he pointed out not long before Makena's arrival. "I think that gave me some good experience, like in holding a baby the right way."
"But, what you didn't se," he continued with a laugh, "is me feeding him Cheerios half ethe time so he'd be quiet!" But my wife is very good with kids."
Burton shared that watching Sheree over the past nine monts gave him a new appreciation for his wife. Even womankind as a whole! "The whole pregnancy thing is a miracle, and I cannot believe that women do it. Thank God it's them; thay can handle it! Men never could."
