Quote: Harry Dresden is the best at what he does. Well, technically, he's the only at what he does. So when the Chicago P.D. has a case that transcends mortal creativity or capability, they come to him for answers. For the "everyday" world is actually full of strange and magical things -- and most of them don't play well with humans. That's where Harry comes in. Takes a wizard to catch a -- well, whatever.
There's just one problem. Business, to put it mildly, stinks. So when the police bring him in to consult on a grisly double murder committed with black magic, Harry's seeing dollar signs. But where there's black magic, there's a black mage behind it. And now that mage knows Harry's name. And what's when things start to get... interesting.
I was quite impressed to grab a copy of this book, sit down, start reading, and discover that nothing had been cut in the audio recording.
now, there are a couple places where James altered the wording - but that could be that what he was reading was a bit different, or whatever --- not that the alterations were problematic --- they're hardly noticable unless you read the book along w/ the recording --
Anyway -- I was still hooked from that opening sequence where the mailman approaches the door, laughs at the name, the knocks - then Harry's description -- classic!
And then - Bob - the intro of Bob w/ just enough description that you're intrigued but not overwhelmed -
Re: Storm Front
Can you believe, I bought SF, FM and FK (couldn't find GP ) before Christmas, and made a New Year's resolution to actually prise myself away from my computer for an hour or so each day and get back to some honest to goodness reading..... and then gave my copy of Storm Front away to a friend, in my mission to convert! Anyhoo, I am reassured by your comments that the audio version is true to the text so feel it is safe to dip my toe into Fool Moon. Yes, yes, I know it is mid-March but sometimes it takes a while to build to these things. I couldn't just go cold turkey on the internet now, could I?!
Jim's descriptive powers and characterisations blew me away in Storm Front, and I recognise Mister! Only "she" was going by the name of Sophie when I "owned" her! I'm not sure about Harry's theories re Murphy and Mister.... I am only ickle too, low centre of gravity an' all that, but Sophie used to knock me flying on a regular basis!

Re: Storm Front
Storm Front is incredible whether you read it or listen to it -
I think I've actually hooked a lady at work, she said her son likes 'fantasy' like stuff, and I told her to just read the first paragraph of "SF" and see what she thought - she might read it before she gives it to her son! hehe - that's 2 more potential fans!
I read all 4 of the books in about a span of a month. I read SF in about 2 days, same with FM, then I had to wait for GP and SK to come in - GP came - got through that one real quick, then had to wait more for SK to actually RELEASE. That one down in about a week. Then found out I had to wait a YEAR for the next one! ACK!! But - Jim's on the McAnally's list -so, it's all good!
Re: Storm Front
I'd just like to repeat, having already mentioned it in the guest book, I've finally read Storm Front! It was fun. I like Harry. I'm not sure about the universe around him yet, I'll have to read a couple of more books, but I definitely like Harry. Thanks for telling me about him, (((((H2))))).

Re: White Knight
I recently got into the Dresden Files. In the last month or so I have read all 9 books. It's an outstanding series and the characters are fantastic. White Knight left me drooling...what happend to Lash and when Harry's soul grows back, will she return as well? Not to mention whats going to happen with Molly, Elaine, Carlos, and Michael??? And the mystery behind Cowl with the Black Council and the White's traitor?
