Summer Knight Summer Knight is Book Four of the Dresden Files.
Back Cover Blurb (as taken from the back cover of the book):
Quote: Ever since his girlfriend left town to deal with her newly acquired taste for blood, Harry Dresden has been down and out in Chicago. He can't pay his rent. He's alienating his friends. He can't even recall the last time he took a shower.
The only professional wizard in the phone book has become a desperate man.
And just when it seems things can't get any worse, in saunters the Winter Queen of Faerie. She has an offer Harry can't refuse if he wants to free himself of the supernatural hold his faerie godmother has over him - and hopefully end his run of bad luck. All he had to do is find out who muedered the Summer Queen's right-hand man, the Summer Knight, and clear the Winter Queen's name.
It seems simple enough, but Harry knows better than to get caught up in the middle of faerie politics. Until he finds out that the fate of the entire world rests on his solving this case. No pressure of anything...
This is one of those books that you need to read more than once since there are so many good little bits that you just don't catch in the first reading. Plus, I must admit that I was excited and I probably read it too fast. Upon a second reading I will be able to get all the subtle nuances, like the Gatekeeper taking note of what the date is when he considers the request for Harry to assist Mab, the Winter Queen of the Faeries. I was looking something up this morning and noticed that and in my first reading it was a throwaway line but knowing the ending it made me think that he understood the significance of Midsummer's Eve.
Once I can locate a copy of Storm Front I will read the whole series again from the beginning. I think that with each new book that may be something that wouldn't be a bad idea to do as Jim seems to include things in earlier books that don't become significant until later ones.
At least I've found a way to pass the time until the next book is released. ;-)

I'm working my way through this one for the 2nd time -
There are some things I'm catching that I think I missed the 1st time, b/c, like you, I was so excited to have a new Dresden book, I read through it like a whirlwind --
And all of the Dresden files are so good, how anyone could only read them once, I'll never understand! <--- slightly biased opinion, of course!

Re: Summer Knight
Hey in SK, do Bob and the Winter Queen relationship come into play. I remember reading in Grave Peril about him doing something to the Winter Queen, and how he can't go back to the Nevernever because of it.

Erm -- *wracks brain* -
I don't think there's mention of it -- I've read this book twice (all of 'em actually) -- and I don't think so - would have been an interesting side story though -----
Re: Summer Knight
Humm.. nop.. the book do not mention anything about Bob and the queen.. well.. nothing new I mean.. I do remember Bob saying something about him and the winte queen... but, no encounter between them in the 4th.. but yes... that would be very interesting to read what happened to Bob in the Nevernever for him not wanting to go back!!.. maybe he did sneak up on the queen and her.. "lover"..???? knowing Bob.. it had to be something like that!!.. *laugh*
