THE DESCENT
THE DESCENT: Neil Marshall's latest horror has been announced by Lionsgate in the United States and Maple Pictures in Canada, with both arriving on 26th December 2006. This film stars: Shauna Macdonald, Natalie Jackson Mendoza, Alex Reid, the delicious and fav of mine Saskia Mulder, MyAnna Buring and Nora-Jane Noone, and will be made available in four flavours: three for DVD (that is, theatrical full screen, uncut full screen and uncut widescreen) and an uncut for Blu-ray Disc.
In terms of extra features, all versions will include a director's commentary with the cast and some trailers, whilst uncut editions also get a second director's commentary with the crew, a making-of featurette, deleted and extended scenes, a storyboard/scene comparison, a stills gallery, cast/crew bios, outtakes and an interview with the director. The Blu-ray edition is the same in terms of features but with an enhanced "Picture in Picture Interactive" director's commentary with the crew and trailers in HD. As far as technical specs go, the DVD will include English Dolby Digital 2.0 and 5.1 tracks, with the Blu-ray edition supporting Dolby Digital 5.1 and 6.1 PCM - subtitles will include English and Spanish. DVD editions will cost $28.98 in the US with the Blu-ray going for $39.99, whilst in Canada the prices will be $29.95 and $39.95 respectively. This looks like a direct port of the amazing UK edition I reviewed in the DVD CRYPT last year.
