TOOL?????? What does that mean?
TOOL is by far my favorite band. They reach me on multiple levels. I have researched many many different sights about TOOL. (this is definitely my favorite)

I have one question. What do you all believe that the name TOOL means? TOOL has always had weird names. What do you all think "Aenima" or "Lateralus" means?

Thank you for your input.

Re: Unknown
Ænima is means "The Soul" when referring to the album

Re: TOOL?????? What does that mean?
anima= refference to the male persepctive of the female mind
animus=refference to the female perspective of the male mind

lateralus= lateral thinking on a collective level

aenima= a flushing of the male persona to invite feminine thought to a male ego dominated mentality...becoming balanced in regards to emotional continuity

google search for "carl gustav jung"....a psychologist who was freuds protege' and coined the term"collective unconscious"...along with explanations to "the shadow", your anima/animus...the philosophers stone, etc.

delving into the basis of meaning in many of there songs have to be taken litterally and figuratively since all contain a duality or dual meaning. for instance...stinkfist. knowledge of sacred geometry...alchemy...hermetics..many aspects of the sub-cultures wil help you understand or interpret alot of there lyrics. realizing the fibbonacci sequence in the song "lateralus" in the stanzas will show you theres something more to the eye or ear than what is first thought,it shows you the work that goes into the actual architecture or constructs of their ideals.

merkaba is a form of meditation.
viginti tres, parobola are mathematical formulas.
