yeah, yeah... I have all the folders and all the reports, and all the tax forms and all the lists ready for the tax guy to do his magic. Just don't like the idea. Our salaries already get the taxes deducted, bonuses, stock monies, any income at all gets taxed.
So why do we hafta go thru this again???
There should be a nice letter sent out that thanks you for being a good citizen for paying your taxes all year. And those that don't pay when they should, get to do the filing.
riddle me this. the founding fathers said "no taxation without representation" and no double taxation. (boston tea party anyone?) so.....i work for the federal government. my salary is tax money. yet they tax me in the 28% tax bracket!?!?!? would this not be double dipping? how can you tax me when you pay me with taxes? gotta be something illegal in there somewhere. lol.

ewww crunch time huh Maui? I do ours asap in Feb, I'm one for getting it over quickly, like ripping off a bandaid! But aye Perone, that does seem like double dipping, at least they could do like other countries and pay for everyones healthcare (Switzerland, I think I read?) or everyone's college education (heaven forbit the government want to raise the collective intelligence of its citizens!) then I might feel our taxes were a little more justified...

be happy ya don't live in California where everyone wants a free education. We have our Head Start Program (free), Early Kindergarten (free to 70% of families and illegals), Takes a Village program (from state taxes and free for grades 1-3), free community college (for most qualifying and illegals).
And boo-hoo for all those who don't fit those categories - they hafta to pay full price.
And soon to start from the taxes of those who make $400K or more (combined or not) , free pre-school education. The low-wealthy aren't too pleased. Middle-classers don't want to inherit anything of value that will add to their income and get hit with that tax. The super-rich could care less.
We jes keep throwin the dough at the problem....... Corporations are trimming their health benefits leaving it up to people to pick up whatever coverage they want out of their own pockets. So our woderful government dudes and dudettes are thinking of free health care for those who qualify and for illegals. With a new tax on cars and property.
So yes, I don't like taxes. And I would have mine done on Feb. 1st if it weren't for Mr. Mauie.
