The Chainsaw!! <eg> (Grave Peril spoilers)
Reading along -- and this might spoil part of the book if you're not yeat to Chapter 21 --
In the Wal-Mart parking lot --- Murph stands up and throws off the blanket and whips out that Chainsaw, cranks it up and goes to town on that Ogre! Yeeeeeeessssssssss! That was totally awesome!!! I love Murphy!

yeah -- not sure how 'mostly gas powered' things react around Harry ---- or maybe Murphy's just grounded enough to keep it going?? I know - stretching -- but worth a shot!
Re: The Chainsaw!! <eg>
The effect seems to be mostly electrical, a single stroke chain saw only has a spark plug. It is a pretty simple and reliable bit of technology so I don't see it as inconsistent with the side-effects of Harry's magic use.
Re: The Chainsaw!! <eg>
good point... but what about his car?.. I know, a car have a battery, but it's mechanic.. not electric...A flashlight would die in Harry's hands or if he's nearby...*s*
oh and by the way... Welcome!!!!..

yes! Welcome to the board!!
The car -- Harry does have problems with his car - but as it's an older car (which he purchased b/c it's easy for his mechanic to fix) - might have fewer problems than one of those new-fangled computerized ones --
The other bit has to do with how much 'magical energy' is floating around Harry at the time - if his emotions are up - so's his magic - which causes the 'pop' effect on things. If he can keep himself rather calm, he's okay -- one of the books - "Grave Peril" maybe? maybe "Fool Moon" - has him or Murphy walking around w/ a flashlight- and it's fine until a certain point, then the bulb fillament pops ---
Jim could probably explain it all better - but that's no fun!
Re: The Chainsaw!! <eg>
You are correct Highlander... *smile*... it always depend of Harry's mood... well.. normally when he is using magic.. its because somebody .. or something is trying to kill him!..
and for the flashlight it was in Fool moon *smile*.. it was when murphy and harry were trying to follow the "wolfpack" in the abandon warehouse....I think!.

Re: The Chainsaw!! <eg> Ah, Yes. For the most part he does seem to jinx up electrical things and software but I also remember a few occurrences when he had the same affect on guns....and lets face it mechanically speaking a gun is allot more simplistic that a chainsaw.
But I'm willing to overlook it because it did make for a B**ching scene.
Re: The Chainsaw!! <eg> (Grave Peril spoilers)
Welcome !!!.. always a pleasure to see new "faces" in here... and I do agree... even if at some point the chainsaw should have died.... it does make a great scene!!..

Harry carries a gun - it's a old-style revolver thing - as simplistic as he can get w/o it being just a 'toy' --
Dunno - coulda been that Murph was far enough away when she started w/ the chainsaw that she had time to kick some plant butt before it would fizzle out? Or, it could be that Harry was so focused on fighting the giant plant monster that his 'magical energies' didn't flow over into the chainsaw... *shrug*
