The GROBANITES thread
Dee, what do ya think of that title?
Words cannot possibly express how much I LOVE this man. He has the voice of an angel...and the lyrics to his songs just take me into another dimension. I work on a daily internet radio soap, and I used "Broken Vow" to help me "prepare" for some REALLY tough scenes. It was DEFINITELY inspirational!
I'm counting down the days until January 28, 2004...the day my hubby and I go see Josh in concert!

I love Clay too, LOL.
I mean, I don't have the SAME passion for him that I do for Josh (or my FAVORITE band of ALL-TIME, Duran Duran), but I think that he's awesome just the same. I can't wait for next week's AI Christmas special!
Speaking of Christmas songs...have you heard Josh's rendition of "O Holy Night"? It's FAB-ranks up there with my favorite by Michael Crawford!

I assume that you ordered
the internet special from Josh's website? You should be able to go to OnlyHitMusic and check on the status of your order.
I'm REALLY surprised that you didn't get an email about it, though. Mine came right after I placed the order!
Yes! We DEFINITELY need to meet in the chatroom to gush about 'Closer'. I'm leaving for Thanksgiving, but will be back next week.
BTW, Clay was soooo amazing tonight! I love it when he sings with my girl Kimberley!

My Josh review :)O-M-G!!!!!!!!!
I thought I loved the man before last night...now I know I love the man more than ever before!!!!!!!!!
Forget the fact that at times, the orchestra's microphones were turned up a little too loud for the size of the venue. Josh's voice cuts through with a beauty and a purity that VERY few people in this world possess-almost like he's an angel who has been sent down to touch the world with his music! It's a true gift, and I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to see that gift in person!
During the approximately 1 1/2-1 3/4 hours that Josh was on stage, he performed a variety of selections from both his debut CD and Closer. The opening song, "Oceano", was fantastic, with images of ocean waves floating across a screen set behind the orchestra, and Josh walking out from behind that screen as he sang, as if he was actually coming out of the water. "Oceano" was followed by a pre-intermission set that included "My Confession" (NEm!!!), "Un Amore Per Siempre" and "Mi Mancherai (Il Postino)", the latter which featured a "duet" between Josh and this incredible violin soloist, whose name my hubby and I couldn't figure out (but we want to, because she was one of the best we've ever heard).
After the intermission, Josh really kicked it into high gear, performing several of his most beautiful tracks, including "Caruso", "Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)" and a breathtaking rendition of "You Raise Me Up". He also played the piano during "Remember When It Rained" (that was one of my absolute favorite songs from last night's show, not only because of the haunting quality present in the music, but also because of the cool rain effects on stage before the song began), which showed yet another facet of this multi-talented young man. Oh yeah, and how can I forget? "Broken Vow", my Scripts & Scruples inspiration song!
Sigh...I can't believe we finally saw Josh Groban live! There is simply no one else like him around!!!!!!!!!
I know exactly what you mean! I felt like I was right there because you were gracious enough to call me! I love the man more than ever!!!! it sounds like you and hubby had an AWSOME time! I completely agree with you, Gosh is an Angel! I think he sounds even better live then he does on the CD if that is even possible!!! Did you cry? I felt like it a few times and I was only on the phone. LOL! The Oceano arragement sounds AMAZING. Do tell if you figure out the violinist's name Did they use any other effects during the other songs? I hope to god they release a Closer DVD. I keep checking Ticketmaster but so fan he isn't coming close to me. I keep hoping some new dates will be added lol

Oh yeah, I cried!!!!
More than once, as a matter of fact!
The first song that really got to me was "To Where You Are". Not only do the lyrics make me want to cry every time I hear them; Josh also spoke of all the post-September 11 letters that he received, where many grieving families thanked him for representing their thoughts in the song. And that's enough to make ANYONE feel emotion deep in the heart!
I also bawled during "Broken Vow" (what's more heartfelt than a man sitting on a stool, belting out a sad love song?), "Remember When It Rained" and "You Raise Me Up". The choir he brought out for YRMU was excellent!
The background screen saw A LOT of use during the show, LOL! A flamenco dancer for "Mi Morena", translated English lyrics for "Caruso", images of Italian architecture for "Gira Con Me Questa Notte"; it added such a great ambience. The green lighting for "Never Let Go" was cool too!
