The Killing Game (continued)
Maverick glared athis companion's all-too-knowing grin and snatched the blanket from him, draping over the shaking girls' shoulders. He scooped her up and carried her over to the bed, laying her down gently. "Th-th-thank y-you," was all she managed to mutter before her deep brown eyes glazed over and rolled into the back of her head. Her body went limp and her heavy breaths lengthened to a slow, steady rhythm. Her breath frosted as she exhaled and suddenly Maverick realized exactly how cold it was in the cave. Goosebumps stood out painfully onm his skin and he hastily rubbed his arms. "It's freezing back here!" He clamped his teeth to keep them from chattering qand hunched his shoulders to try and preserve any body warmth he had left. It was then he noticed the glow emerging from his tunic. He reached in and pulled out his stone pendant. It was freezing to the touch and was fading even then till it was simply a dull throb. Maverick's eyebrows nitted together in concentration as he reached out through the stone, searching for the source of where the magic was coming from, but whoever it was was long gone. He shook his head and stuffed it back into his tunic. "Shadrak, we need a fire," he glanced at the girl. "A big one."

Shadrak grinned and shrugged, "sure ye want me to make another fire-kablooie mate?"

"She needs heat, Shadrak. Look at her, she's turning blue!" Maverick pulled one of the girl's hands out of the blanket and rubbed it furiously, trying to work heat back into the girls' body.

"As you wish," Shadrak said, igniting a flame spell, thankfully, this time without the disastrous results. Grinning, in relief, he put a barrier spell around it, and passed the heat giving globe to Maverick.

bic: Maverick took the globe and shoved it under the blanket against the girls' torso. He leaned back on his haunches and sighed. "That's all we could do for now. All that's left is waiting."

Shadrak grinned, "Aye, just wait....and cuddle a little maybe?"
Shadrak's grin was PURE Loki.

"Cuddle?!" He stared at his companion. "Don't be so vulgar, Shadrak. She's in no condition to 'cuddle'." But Maverick didn't know who he was trying to convince; Shadrak or himself. And in the midst of it all, he never even noticed the light glow coming from his pendant.

Re: The Killing Game (continued)
Shadrak was too busy making fun of the warrior to notice any pendant glowiness. Shadrak's grin grew even more, if that was even possible. "Really? well, I heard somewhere...once... that the best way to warm someone up was to "cuddle" or well, the less "vulgar" word would probably be, "transfer body heat". And, well, she kinda looks like she could use some body heat transferral..." Shadrak was still grinning like Loki in the midst of some GOOOOD fun.

Maverick gritted his teeth. "Well, I...uh...oh alright! But I'll be the one to 'cuddle' as you call it because I don't trust you." He unlaced his shirt and and climbed onto the other side of the bed, scooting under the covers. He wiggled around a bit to get comfortable and spooned the unconcious woman. The slowly, red crept up his face as he realized she was wearing mothing under the thin rags and her body was all to shapely for comfort.

Re: The Killing Game (continued)
Shadrak was killing himself laughing in the corner, he had to hold onto the wall for support, and even though he was trying to laugh silently, a snort of laughter escaped every so often.
"Well mate, if that's what ye want, go RIIIGHT ahead!!" his laughter was now more audible.

~Later~

After Shadrak had gotten control of his laughter, he was leaning against the wall, grinning, when he heard a funny noise. Like the noise that a blade makes as it swishes through the air. He looked everywhere, but there was no one and nothing, except for Maverick and the girl, STILL CUDDLING! ^-^
The swishing got closer, and he felt something come near his face, leaving a cold trail of air. He then used his mage-sight, and he saw something horrible. Something he had not seen before. The walls were covered in dried blood, there were hacked up skeletons against the walls. There was a creature in front of him, glowing due to the mage-sight, and swinging a meatcleaver of a sword. He looked to where Maverick was, and saw him tied to a creature of pure horror, ugly beyond all telling, he was bound to it w/ cords of black power. Maverick looked blissfully unaware, but he was snared, it seemed, without his knowing. "Maverick! We have to get out of here, NOW!" Shadrak shouted at him, true fear was in SHadrak's eyes, he had no experience in the undead and black sorcerery. He ducked a wild swing from the beast and used the only weapon he had. White magic, a spattering of which he didn't have that great a command. A blast of white power burst from Shadrak and bounced crazily around the cavern. All it did was break the illusion spell over the entire cavern. All that Shadrak has seen w/ his mage-sight was now plain to any eye.

Re: The Killing Game (continued)
Maverick lay in the bouts of a blissful dream, remembering all too clearly the moment he'd realized he had true happiness. True love. He and his lady love were in the throes of passion, back in the Inn of the Green Fairy for the first time. He stopped and looked down at Ryoty, memorizing every curve of her face and slant of her chin. Then reached down and kissed her passionately, brushing her lips lightly, lingeringly. When he came up though, he was not looking down at his love, but at the strange beauty. She looked familiar, but he just couldn't seem to place her. In the back of his mind, warnings went off like a siren, but were peculiarly clouded for some reason. In fact his whole mind was cloudy, as if it was packed full of wool. A sound echoed around him. Someone was calling his name. It was yelling at him, telling him to... to something. What did they want to tell him? He focused on the sound as much as he could, trying to make it out. The sound grew louder, louder until it filled his ears. Suddenly he was no longer in the Inn, no longer with his lady love. He was floating in darkness, a vast emptiness that held no light, yet strangely he could see himself. His feet collided with something hard and he stood. Suddenly a bright shaft of light appeared above him, illuminating the strange beauty that had haunted his dreams. She stood there, staring at him with sure eyes and a secretive smile. "Where are we?"
She said nothing, just stood there looking at him.
"What is this place?"
This time she moved, walking slowly towards him. She didn't stop until she was standing right in front of him, no longer in rags but in a gown of rich maroon silk that revealed a generous portion of her cleavage. She stared up at him, her lips parted slightly. Maverick stared right back, but didn't take the bait. He knew he should be aroused by her beauty, but he felt nothing. She reached up and pulled his mouth to hers, but still he didn't respond. The woman pulled back, suprised, then angered. She kissed him again, more passionately. But still he wouldn't respond. Quietly he disentagled her arms from around his neck and stepped back. "Madam, I'm sorry, but this cannot be. My heart belongs to another." The woman's eyes widened and her face twisted in outrage. She screached and suddenly standing in her place was not a stunning beauty, but a horrifying monster, snarling and spitting at him. Maverick stumbled back and realized for the first time that a brilliant glow was coming from the pendant around his neck. He pulled it out of his tunic and stared at it, then back at the monster. The monsters huge, beady eyes stared at the thing in horror, then back away tentatively, then charged. Maverick had nowhere to go, nowhere to hide, and no weapons with which to defend himself. Except the pendant. The monster slashed at him and he dodged. It slashed again and suddenly the pendants' light engulfed him, sourrounding him in a holy light. The monster slashed again and struck the shield. The moment it's claws entered the light it screached in horror and sheltered the injured claw to it's chest. But the strike had taken it's toll on Maverick, for suddenly, he felt weaker, weary like he hadn't slept in two days. The creature attacked again and again, each time draining some of the energy of Maverick's life force. He was going to die here, he thought. Wherever here was. The snarling faded and he looked around blankly. The creature was screaming in outrage, screaming that it couldn't touch him. His knees buckled, but he was still clutching the pendant when gravity disappeared and his shoulder hit the ground and he rolled onto his back. His last thought as the picture faded was one of regret; regret that he should die so far from his lady love, that he couldn't see her face one last time. Light faded from his his sight as his head hit the ground. The pendant went out.

Re: The Killing Game (continued)
Shadrak was fighting like a mad beast. Magic and weapons flashed about him in a mad whirl of colour and light and blood. He spared a moment to see where his erstwhile companion had gotten to. He realized where the weird flashes of light had been coming from, he watched as Maverick fell to the ground and the light from his pendant was extinguished. Shadrak growled in wordless frustration. So, he was alone in this fight, fine! Shadrak morphed into dragon form. He pulled energy out of time/space and whirled it around him. It circled him like a protective beast. Flashes of black and white and silver fishtailed around him in an awesome display of Black Mastery and White Mastery magic. He literally sliced through the undead beasts, reverting his offensive shield mostly to white magic as he went. He finally stood at Maverick's side. the beasts had attempted to do a number on him ((by that I mean, they tried to mess you up pretty bad)). Shadrak picked up the inert form of a man and, seeing as how he was now too large to squeeze through the doorway, he turned his head upwards and drew on the molten power beneath his feet. Standing pointing up like a rocket, the ground began to shake, the ground crumbled and magma coursed into the underground room. Shadrak could barely hear the shrieks and painful agonies of the monsters all about him. His shield buzzed, all colours now, pressure built. The shields around the dragon were pushed inwards by the great pressure building. Suddenly the pressure was gone and Shadrak and his burden of a man named Maverick were flying several hundred feet in the air.
The landing would have been rougher, but the lava spouting everywhere cushioned their fall.
Shadrak's shield finally dimmed and went out like a candle being blown out. He sagged a bit and morphed back into human form, dropping Maverick in the process. ((In case you were wondering, Shadrak can handle more extremes as a dragon and he also can use more magic and more powerful magic as a dragon.))
He slumped to the ground, glad to be done with all that!
He looked up to watch the lava still gouting out of the mountain and set a small ward, warding the lava off and away.
He finished his ward and his eyes wandered a ways off. They widened and he gasped slightly. The beast from the cavern below was staggering around, covered in lava, burn, obviously in pain, several limbs had been burnt right off, but it was still alive!

Re: The Killing Game (continued)
The sound of wind roared in his ears as he slowly pulled himself out of the dregs of sleep. Through his eyelids he could see little light; not fire light, for this light did not dance. It was more solid, more encompassing. Was he dead? Was Heavan always this cold. He shivered and tried to go back to sleep, wanting nothing to do with what was sure to be a bright, cloudy landscape if there was any landscape at all. He was just about to float back into nothingness when a blood curdling sound reached his ears. Angels didn't make that noise. His eyes shot open and his head and shoulders lifted off the ground. Pain shot through his body and he released a low groan. This couldn't be Heavan, which meant only Hell.

Re: The Killing Game (continued)
Shadrak was sagging from fatigue. The dull light from the lava reflected hellishly off of the twisted and burnt creature. It slowly began making its painful way towards where Shadrak and Maverick lay/sprawled. Shadrak sighed, and forcefully shoved himself up right. He had no more magic to use for now. He pulled out his blade, and relaxed into the Gaurd Position. The blade wavered where he held it. He was unaware of Maverick's condition, but he kinda hoped that he was still alive. Shadrak prepared to face the beast, it let out an unearthly howl of agony and rage. Shadrak winced and hoped it was close to dead, because he wasn't greatly skilled w/ the sword, just fairly good, and now he was pretty demned tired.

Maverick turned his head toward the horrid sound. That creature. That thing was on it's way up to--to wherever it was they were. He realized with a start that indeed he wasn't alone. "Shadrak?" The more he worked his muscles, the more his strength returned. He pushed himself up into a sitting position. His pendant was glowing faintly.

Shadrak turned, startled, "Maverick!" Shadrak scrambled back a bit to where he was sitting. "Our li'l beasty problem ain't gone yet." Shadrak motioned his head to where the beast was getting even closer. It was almost on top of them. Shadrak was half-kneeling, but he brought up his sword anyway.

Maverick scrambled to his feet. "Give me a swo--" He clutched his head and sank back down to his knees, groaning. With effort, he struggled to his feet. "A sword.." He pulled the pendant from his neck and wrapped it around his knuckles. "The pendant," he said weakly. It was glowing brightly know and getting brighter.

Shadrak pulled his spare sword ((yes, he DOES have a spare sword, in the sheath on his back, and on his waist sheath)) out of its sheath and tossed it to Maverick. The beast fell on Shadrak, biting and clawing.

Maverick grabbed the sword and tied the pendant to it. He pushed himself to his feet and launched himself at the creature. The sword plunged into the creatures' back and it realed back in pain, wrenching the sword from his weakened grasp, screaching and clawing at the four feet of glowing metal sticking out of it's back. "Shadrak get out of there!"
