The carnal mind enmity - against God...
Romans 8:1-9 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Yes as long as they remain in the flesh, this does not mean they have to remain in the flesh, Paul said he was chief amoung the sinners "flesh" and the word shows clearly that Christ came from the ungodly "those of the flesh" and that Christ died even for the false prophets...

Flesh...
It would be nice if you were to take things in context.
In Romans 8:7-8 Paul sets a contrast between those whose minds are "set on the flesh" and those "set on the Spirit". This is not something a person can do but is a supernatural work of God. Consider:
Romans 8:6-8 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Here's the contrast, those whose minds are "set on the flesh" cannot please God, cannot subject themselves to God's law and are hostile toward God.
Since they are hostile toward God, they do not desire to change their minds. Since they cannot please God, nothing they can do will ever please Him. Since they cannot subject themsleves to the Law of God, they are unable to even repent.
Fortunately that is not all there is to the passage.
9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
The only way out of having a "mind set on the flesh" is to have the Spirit of God dwelling in you. If the Spirit does not dwell in you, you are not His.
Since one is hostile toward God, they do not desire to have the Spirit of God dwelling in them, nor can they seek after it. In fact, as Romans 3:10-11 explains, no one seeks for God. It is Christ who came to "seek and save the lost", and praise God that He does.
How does one therefore get the Spirit of God dwelling in them? They must be "born-again", or "regenerated" (Titus 3:5-6). Being born-again is not something we do, or even ask for, it is something that God does for us. (John 1:13)
This is what the prophet Ezekiel spoke of in chapt 36-37.
Eze 36:25-26"Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances."
It is a marvelous work of God, making dead sinners alive with Christ, and it has nothing to do with any works of our own.
Re: Flesh...
Now you are trying to take away judgment day again. All men will be judged of their works, but why judge these evil ones, if to no fault of their own, they are evil, and if you come back with, well it is their fault, then you will have to explain how it is their fault if they were made to be the damned? SECOND you take away your free will to love God and replace it with, you have no choice to love God, because that is why God made you, to love Him and server him and you have no choice in the matter, and also you take away temptation, why be tempted from God, if one can never leave God?
Theses and many more reasons show why augustine and later calvin were way of base. . . we to where once carnal, so what keeps them from recieving Christ is them and their free will to stay in their flesh and sin, as roms 1:19-20 shows, ALL MEN know deep down God is, and because they refused to accept Him and His will, he has blinded them in part, BUT they had the free will to accept God and Christ. . . just like you and me, you were not programmed to love God, you do so by your own free will, a soul made to love and not able to do anything but love God does not truly love God, because there is no choice in the matter, forced love is not love at all.
please dont come back with none of this has anything to do with calvinism, because anyone reading this can see it surely does, IF you were made the election from the foundation of creation, and have no choice but to be the election, then you're programmed to do one thing without anysay in the matter, and that is to worship and server God, and that is not true worship, service or love.
