Tips...?
I have really curly hair...It's a little below my shoulders, and I ALWAYS do the exact same hairstyles ALL the time!! It's always either a ponytail or a half ponytail... I need to find another hairstyle that'll look fine! A casual hairstyle! Any suggestions?
I straighten my hair sometimes, but it damages my hair often. I always have to keep trimming my hiar ...my mom was gonna relax my hair, butI'm not sure if its permanent. Is it? If it is, I don't want to do it!!
Your hair sounds beautiful! (My hair is straight and I envy people with curls.) But I know what you mean about wanting a change now and then. Have you ever tried using hair sticks? I love them. Basically they look like chopsticks (lots of people actually use fancy chopsticks since they're fairly inexpensive.) Just twist your hair up into a bun and tuck that last bit of hair underneath. Then take one (or two) of the sticks and thread it through the bun. It actually holds the hair in place - no pins needed at all. I have very heavy, thick hair that's below my waist, and hairsticks are the only thing I've ever found that would hold my hair in place without adding a zillion bobby pins.
They're great for casual styles, because it takes maybe a minute to create a basic casual look with them. Or you can get more elaborate for a fancier, evening look.
That site mentions that hair sticks work best with straight hair, but really, I think it depends on the type of curly hair one has. My friends with hair that has a tighter curl don't seem to have any problems with using hair sticks. So maybe it would be more of a problem with loose curls/fine hair.

Hmmm, I love curly hair. My hair is pencil straight and thick.
For another hairstyle, make a ponytail at the base of your neck or slightly above it, but pull your hair as tight as you can. Then, take one of those giant hair clips, and clip the tail upwards on the back of your head. The tightness of the tail will hold the clip better.

I've tried using hair sticks, but never in that style!! My hair is super super thick, so I've never been able to get the stick all the way through when its tied up Thx!!!
I'll try that pony style too!! thx!!!
Do u think I should relax my hair? Does it damage it? Is it permanent??
Re: Tips...?
This is all second hand info., but . . . <g>
Hair relaxers don't have a permanent effect - I think they last a couple of months. If you decide to have your hair relaxed, it might be best to have it done at a salon. Ask you mother how much experience she's had with using hair relaxers at home, though. If she's been doing it for years, she probably knows what she's doing.
It would be best to use a relaxer that you know someone else has used with good results. Relaxers use really harsh chemicals (like lye in some cases) that can burn your hair and scalp. I remember a few years back there was a line of products offered by a company called Rio that made women's hair fall out so badly it made the local news!
You might also try reposting your question here in Beauty Tips with the subject "Hair Relaxing." Maybe that would get the attention of some curly haired girls.<g>

*gasp* Thank You Honorine!! Very helpful I'll find out more about relaxers....I hope theyre not permanent...my mom used to do it herself when she was her age though
Re: Tips...?
I had my hair relaxed awhile back. It lasted almost a month and there was not much damage at all. I needed a trim that was about it
I agree with Glenda to have it done at a Salon. They work with this stuff on a daily basis and usually know what they are doing. Best of luck
