Ok, I know you are hardcore NM. I am wondering how much of his other work you have seen. I mean I see what he does on daytime. But what else can he do. I just think he is really limited on OLTL.
Re: Party time?
I think I am a woman obsessed. YOur site is as addicting as the Diner. More intense and adult but just as addicting.

Re: Party time?
You read my fan fiction? I think I started it hoping to have some serious Al fantasies.. but I tried to keep it clean.. still... it is definitely about an adult POV.
I like to feel the edges.. taboos... I know its not Marcalish... but I became an Al fan because of the sensations that NM gave me when Al was BAD...
Don't get me wrong.. no one could have been more amazed by me loving Marcal than me...

Re: Party time?
I tried really hard not to become interested in NM. i failed completely when I saw him w/ Marcie. When i started glimpsing him as Al, he was in that confused stage. You know desperate and stalking Jen. I remember a scene when I saw him talking to Max about Jen. He was so needy. Max was trying to tell him Jen was not the one for him. But Al was so convinced that she would not have "made love" w/ him if she didn't feel it. I remember he emphasized the "twice." MAx looked at Al like he was really going over the edge. I was so struck by Al's neediness. I mean, he was just laying it bare. His need was sooo extreme. And despite some of the things he did to get her it was not the "stalker-I-am-gonna-get-you-at-all-cost" obsession. Because he still tried not to hurt her. YOu know what it reminded me of? An abused woman. They get the crap kicked out of them and they just live for the moment when their man shows that sliver of kindness. They want the abuse to stop, but don't want to end their relationship to do it. Because they still love this person, they see all this possibility in this person that treats them like garbage. I mean his feelings were so palpable I felt that I could hold them in my hand. Am I rambling? Oh god just tell me to shut up if i am not making any sense.
I'm here...was here before but had to leave...but I'm back
Sorry was trying to do something with my sister hair, she has senior pics tomorrow and we were trying to figure something out.
ooo, char unveiling your face. cool, cool.
yes, MsT05 you should should check Nathaniel out in "Love is All There Is." That was his first movie and major acting role, I believe. He was a lot younger in the movie but definitely worth seeing.
Re: Party time?
I think I have read all your fan fic. I liked it. I think Al comes off a little sexist in some of it, but I figured it was part of his persona before Marcie that I was not aware of. I like edge too. Have you ever seen a movie called "The Secretary"? It is w/ Maggie Gyllenhal and James Spader. I usually like stuff like that. So as much as I love the Diner and soaps they can be a little lite for my taste sometime. The fan fics make up for it some though.
i am dying to see this intense Al I keep hearing about. So many male soap actors are so goody-goody or bad, but not in a sexy way. I don't have any clue who's idea of sexy some of the soap men are supposed to be, but I don't see it. They r very typical. Very "I know I am not supposed to be attracted to you bcuz you keep lying to me and sleeping with my mother but I can't help myself" types. i don't think that is sexy.
I found NM's portrayal of Al sexy bcuz he had needs. And they were not all about what went on under the sheets. He was looking for love. Not this perfect woman and mother type love, but something real. Something true, something you could feel so strongly you ache for it. but the ache doesn't start in your pants and work its way up.

Al sexist?
Don't worry about my sensibilities.. tell me...
I do think have a view that some people would find disturbing...
I think some women deserve to be stood up to by men, in the same way that some men deserve to stood up to.. but some women? hide behind their "female"...
I liked about Al... that he had the audacity to deal with women on a real level.. I'm not saying he got off on intimidating women.. no he's no Todd.. he just called a spade a spade... ya know?

Yeah, the writing and the acting came together for this so well... Al wanted to protect his mother who needed him.. that must have been gratifying.. he saw in Jen... a petite, kick butt chick... must have seemed familiar.. that's the esxtent of the writing... but what did Al get out of this? NM brought this... a place in the world. He didn't get that from Jen, and I understand how he thought that he knew better than her.. she DID need him... hence my fan fiction... but so did Marcie... and Marcie? This chick is cooler than cool... I can SO see a guy like Al going.. "who needs Jen.. when there's this cool chick who might be into me" Probably a better time in the sack too... heh heh.. so as for whats going on down there.. I think Marcie appeals on that level too... Al is no Todd.. it aint about getting off on intimidating women... no.. that's for putting them in their place, rightly deserved... not for sexual enjoyment...
Marcie? She was excited by the VOTN... must have made Al HOT... to know she not only NEEDED him, but would ENJOY him... And wow.. Al was intelligent enough to GET why she's special
Whitetiger, I have been looking for Love is All There Is for awhile now. None of the 2nd hand stores have had it and neither did Blockbuster. Which surprised me, I would think they would try to cash in on Angelina Jolie by re-releasing every commercial she ever did. What about Ciao, America and there was another one, but the title escapes me now...
Char, I am in no way comparing Todd to Al. Al has had some emotional problems. Truly nothing other people don't deal with: inferiority issues, low sense of self worth, abandonment, etc. Todd is truly deviant. The only thing I found enjoyable about that man was RH portrayal of him. But Todd is an incredibly sick, violent man. And he can't be fixed-no matter who loves him. That is why eventually a new actor had to be cast to makeover the character. RH's portrayal and Todd's history made it clear that there is no redeeming this man.
So, no, no Al is nothing like Todd. But like anyone with an edge, you don't always play fair. Not when something you value is on the line. Sometimes you have to play to your advantages. In the situation w/ Natalie it was physical intimidation. Who wouldn't get scared w/ a 6 ft, 200lb man backing you into a wall towering over you? (Well, actually me. I personally would get turned on. But that is neither here nor there, is it?)and no he didn't try to manipulate her anymore than she had originally manipulated him from my understanding.
Now Al being sexist is separate issue bcuz I only find this to be true in some of your fan fic. For example:
"Al Heaven": Chapter One, his taking up with Tasha and boning her so everyone could hear (I probably would not have so much of a problem if I was Tasha. But I am not, so this one could just be jealousy.)Constantly calling women "chicks." Al Heaven": Chapter Fifteen where Will talks to Al about relationships, Al wreaks of sexism and piggy frat boy mentality through that whole story.
As for Jen in bed I am sure all the men of Llanview (and I do mean ALL)enjoy her in bed bcuz' how hard is it to be good in bed when they worship you? They were probably excited just to be w/ her. Marcie is probably giving and there to participate, not just be worshipped.

I thought that Al saying "What woman would" kept him out of the mentality of that of Will. I'm glad you bring this to my attention, becasue I'd want to fix it. I want Al to be able to understand the sexism, to relate to the traditional male realm, but still be able to have the sense to see past it.

Ah, there's the rub.. what do you do with a man like Nathaniel that turns women on, on that level, and yet also appeals to women who see the Al who is not that base?
I'm SO glad you see this... She manipulated HIM... exactly.. he was just dealing with her on a REAL level.. not a man who was intimidating a woman as much as she was using her PHYSICALity to push his buttons.. and he said "Oh yeah... I have a physique too baby... and I can use it"
I still remember the sensations my body felt... man like that? OMG. And to think... Jen and Natalie missed out... all the better for us.. who got to see what Al is really about... all about that Marcal love baby.
Re: Al sexist?
I got my copy of "Love is All there Is" online. found it at half.com. I don't know if there's still copies but you can check it out.
About the others, Ciao America and Ordinary Sinner, we have a discussion posted somewhere here about finding those. Most likely have to look for those online too.

Ladies... gotta go to see Marilyn Manson...
Wish I could stay longer...
I leave you with some pictures that are close to my heart, if Jen can get them up.
See the woman that NM treated like a queen at SSW... because I wasn't ANYTHING to look at! Not that I need to PROVE how COOL NM is with his fans, but maybe to illustrate what were reading about him. He is an amazing person, and I'm willing to show you how awful I looked... LOOK at the woman that NM dazzled... What KB says about finding something special about every woman.. its so true, and its a trip to me.. because I KNOW first hand.
I guess I'm more confident to show it now... because I wear size 7 now, and my face looks different since I lost the weight... but how did I find the confidence to be who I am today? Because someone wearing an ace card on his forehead treated me like royalty.
I wish him my very best, and I hope Malone did right by him with the Heaven Can Wait storyline. I know that he'd make it shine even if it wasn't all that great. NM has the kind of energy we can only HOPE all actors have on our show. My last thoughts as I leave you here... never forget how special this man is. He is and was worth every effort we gave... and let my pictures be the proof. Edited by: Ladyeevil at: 10/12/03 4:24 pm
Well wait...
now you've brought a new perspective into the mix. Are you saying that b4 Al tried to intimidate/manipulate Nat w/ his body and size that she tried a little seduction? Hmmm, he never struck me as the type to be swayed that way. Even b4 Marcie. I don't think Jen would have gotten away with all that if he hadn't had true feelings for her. He doesn't strike me as the type to follow his johnson. Interesting.

Re: Were here, celebrating Al's return... snark discussion..
I'm sorry I missed the party- enjoyed the thread, though. Thanks for posting the pics Char- they look great! Loving the hat...NM has his own sense of style, doesn't he?
MsT- love your posts. I didn't get the impression Al followed his johnson either. With him he seems to connect with the heart first. I didn't see the scenes with him in love with Jen, but she must have given him some impression that she cared about him. And I guess at that point in time he needed someone to care. It's what drew him to Marcie, she cared about him, and he could see she cared about everyone else. The person she cares least about is herself, the total opposite of Jen. I think that's what most women want, is a man to connect with her heart, to love her from the inside out.
I hardly think that you are rambling Kat!
It is true. Marcie cares about others. Jen can't see past herself. I know everyone is trying to give her credit for being a friend to Marcie in her time of need, but look at why she is doing it. It is not really about Marcie. It's really about her wanting Joe. Jen wants Joe, she pretends (and she is pretending) to be someone else so that Joe will see how good she is, Joe in turn will want her more bcuz not only is she now physically on his level, now she is more befitting his profession. Jen's behavior is getting her want she wants, not to say she is a total selfish snot. But nor is she doing a whole lot that doesn't benefit her.
