Since there's been some interest in the older music topics lately, I thought I'd ask: What are you listening to now? I've become addicted to Japanese rock ever since one of the college radio stations here started playing 2 hours of Japanese music every Sunday. So I'm listening to Malice Mizer, Moi dix Mois and, of course, Gackt - who is one *fine* looking man, I must say. And as always, I'm listening to Imperial Teen, Placebo, Nine Inch Nails, Hole and Rasputina. Although last night, I had hankerin' for some disco . . . Sylvester, perfect! Glenda

After I open my Christmas presents, I'll hopefully be listening to the following: LeTigre, Mirah, Belle and Sebastian, Yellowcard, and Mates of State.

I have asked for the J-Lo, Avril Lavinge and Shakira albums for Christmas but I am currently listening to Pink, Harry, Kelly Rowland and various others - if it's punk or RnB I'll be listening to it! Although there are some things I won't listen to!! Luv n Hugs Lu xxx <a href="http://www.thespark.com"><img

LuLu, have you ever listened to LeTigre? They're punk, very very cool band. You should see if you can find an MP3 and check them out if you haven't heard their stuff before.

Fi, what kind of indie rock? Do you go to a lot of live stuff? I went to a Dismemberment Plan show a month or so ago and it was really awesome, and I saw Pedro the Lion a couple months ago, also a very good show.

Okay, I need a good list of new punk music and new alt music... I have spent a year so far in Florida, so I am out of the loop. Can someone make a list with links? Right now I am sort of in a grundge mood. I have started listening to Pearl Jam again... in the car only. At home I am having way too much fun right now listening to Berlin and My Life with The Thrill Kill Kult Regards,

Any forum topic that includes both Gackt and Trent Reznor is one mighty fine topic indeed. I've been busy losing my mind lately, so it's taken me forever to reply to folks here. Janice, I've been thinking about getting a cable t.v. package that includes Japanese programming just so I can see things like the Kinki Kids' show in hopes that Gackt will be on them! That man must have evil magical powers that cause people to become addicted to him. Sabinka, Trent . . . yum. Yes, we did have that discussion. Envy!!!! Also, thought I'd post a link to some legal mp3's that are available on the web for download. Check out Matador records U.S. web site at: www.matadorrecords.com/ Some of the bands featured there are Interpol, Arab Strap, Pizzicato Five, Pavement, etc. There's also a link to Matador's U.K. site where you can download some Sleater-Kinney. Sabinka, you might like Interpol. Glenda

p.s. Another link. www.splendidezine.com/boo...fault.html There's music by a number of bands that people have mentioned here, plus old and new stuff - some Alex Chilton, Pansy Division, Bikini Kill, Clinic, Fugazi, Jello Biafra, etc. There's even Johnny Cash doing a cover of NIN's Hurt. Glenda

But if I get Japanese cable, I'll see all these things I want to buy and can't buy here in Atlanta! Canto-pop would be Cantonese pop, right? I've been visiting all the Korean and Vietnamese record stores here in town, but none of them carry many bands from China or Japan. Yet another reason I ought to move back to San Francisco. A girl's gotta shop! Glenda (currently listening to Arab Strap . . . and Gackt.)

Everyone I know who's been to Hong Kong has loved it! Especially the shopping. There's not really anyplace in Atlanta that's like San Francisco's China Town. There's a small town just outside of Atlanta, called Doraville which is home to growing communities of primarily Korean and Vietnamese immigrants. I usually check the "Asian Mall" there whenever I'm looking for j-pop/j-rock. There are three record stores in the mall that carry a number of anime soundtracks and one store usually has Utada Hikaru. Unfortunately, that's not what I'm looking for. I can order most of what I want online, but it's expensive. When I ordered Moi-dix-Mois new single from amazon.com.japan, the shipping fees cost as much as the single! It took less than two weeks to get here, though, so that made me very happy. Glenda

My financé and I are looking forward to being able to go to Hong Kong, it will probably be in a year or two. Most of my music is *cough* off of imesh. I prefer the style I grew up with, but it is hard to find German music around mid Canada.
