Okay someone correct me if I am wrong but I think it was when he moved out of the house in fall 2002. N&S had just made love on the sofabed after Sharon finding out "that woman" was back in town, and N&S were fighting about her. She was like "You bastard, bastard." and he pushed her on the bed. Then the next episode Nick comes down the stairs and he tells Sharon it isn't gonna work out and he is going to move. And Sharon was like what are we going to tell the kids, don't you love me anymore? And he said something like, "Of course I love you but sometimes love isn't enough. We're not good for each other." So that was the closet he has come to a love you since before finding out about Sharon sleeping with Diego.

But I agree it has been such a looooooooooooooooonnng time since either one of them had said it and in light of this whole Cameron fiasco N&S are starting to look extrememly shaky!
