As the name indicates...this RPG will revolve around Crossroads and New Beginnings.CrossroadsWe would like to see characters come to a 'crossroads' in their lives where important and life changing decisions have to be made. These events can be very personal...i.e. a relationship beginning, ending or changing, or they can be moral or spiritual. Whatever is decided, they should show 'growth' for your character.New BeginningsThis can be any number of items as well and most likely will relate back to the 'crossroads' in your character(s)' life or lives and/or career. They may be starting a new career as teacher or student at Xavier's School for the Gifted or may have been selected to train for the upcoming X-Men team(s). Their 'new beginning' once again may be as simple as establishing a new relationship or changes in an old one.

Stacy had decided it would be in her best interest to give Shen some space. In the past day they had become almost...oh come on, was she really getting that soft? They had chemistry! So what? With her powers she could create chemistry out of thin air! Men were a dime a dozen, she could bed them and bankrupt them before the sun set in the West. But that was the problem...Stacy didn't want to do that to him. She had to get away. She had to think about this!
Sitting down on the sliver of sandy beach before the lake, she let the waves gently massage her feet. They had been so sore yesterday before Mana saved the day, quite literally. Stacy could handle pain in high doses, but she would've been mighty cranky if she had to deal with all of the emotional and physical pain at once.
Looking out at the horizon, she was sure it was after 9am...how she knew, though, was a mystery. Stacy X never got up before noon. Then again, Stacy X had never slept alone in a bed before...there was always some foster child forced to sleep with the 'ugly' one, there was always some homeless person looking to keep warm...there was always some man that had paid for her services for the evening. Stacy didn't even know what to do when she was alone in her bed...count sheep? Turn on the radio? It was all new to her...
And not altogether unpleasant. This morning her thighs were not horribly sore, she didn't have to change the sheets and she also didn't smell like the alley behind a grimy bar. Trading X-Ranch for the X-Mansion was probably the smartest thing she had ever done. Except now she had to forget what X-Ranch had been to her.
Grabbing a smooth stone she ran it between her fingers and then in one fluid motion, skipped it across the lake. Five times it skipped and Stacy closed her eyes to make a wish on it. "Well...I'll wish...fer..." She began, thinking aloud. "I'll wish fer my memory to be wiped."

Shen couldn't get Stacy out of his mind. Had the black hole which was his brain consumed part of her or was it being consumed? He didn't know which and he didn't care to find out. After Stacy had left him, he had decided to go get a breath of fresh air. Fate had again lead him to be near her, but she did not see him, nor he her. He was on the other side of a small hedge and he was laying down, his head placed on the grass and his body sprawled out.
Shen had never been of the world of the flesh. He had never been tempted to be part of it. Stacy did not make him want to be part of it, but she did arouse certain emotions Shen had not previously been aware of or that had long sense been burried in his mind. Shen just exhaled and let the world above him pass. He sought to find shapes in the clouds, something he had not done since he had been a young boy in Tibet. It was one of the last things that he and Li had done together before the Chinese army had kidnapped both of them.
"Why?" Shen asked himself aloud. It was far from the most simple of all questions. What kind of God had let Shen live and allowed Li to die? What kind of God had given Shen his immense power but no means to control that power? Shen just exhaled softly and thought for a moment. He saw the clouds and thought one looked like a heart. Perhaps there was some sort of sympathy in the world after all.
Shen sat slowly and moved to the water's edge. He took off his simple sandles and placed his feet in the cool lake water. He let out a simple sigh of relief, of comfort. He just basked in the sensation of the cold, the world of the physical his temporary meditation. He knew the fringes of his long pants would be soaked by the water, but he just didn't give a damn at this point. Shen stood slowly and not bother to sense around him, began to levitate, not himself, but the water.
He took time to find his center, his place of being in the universe. Once he got close to that center, he pushed from it out unto the outer world. The water lapping at his feet began to rise, slowly at first, but then at a more gradual rate. Shen just let the collumns of water begin to form around him and he stared into them, letting himself see the refracted sunlight as any normal person might see it. Making a slow gesture with one of his hands he severed the collumns of water and was surrounded by floating spheres of liquid. If he had lips, he would have smiled.
"I'll wish fer my memory to be wiped."
Hearing Stacy's voice shoked Shen out of his silence. The spheres of water crashed back to the lake and Shen was hit by some of the spray. His gray tunic was now soaked as well as his pants. He said nothing at first, only stood in mute shock at the state of his wet clothing. He then turned to Stacy slowly, the darkness which were his eyes seeing everything yet apparently seeing nothing. He stood there, on the water's edge, looking at her and contemplating her wish.
"I hope I am not the cause of your wish," Shen said slowly. It was true. He didn't want Stacy to forget everything because of him. She had probably been thinking of something else, but since Shen had heard it, he had no idea for the context. Even if he wasn't the context for the wish to forget, Shen didn't want Stacy to forget. Her memories helped to define who she was, and Shen cared very deeply for that person.

The stone slid effortlessly over the glassy lake until finally it fell below the surface with a deep plunk. With her mind so consumed on wishing that she were not who she was, that she could be a better, more beautiful person, she didn't even realize that Shen had come to lay just paces away from her. Even his soft "Why?" escaped her hearing...she was staring out over the horizon, wondering what the hell had happened for her to feel this way.
But Stacy wanted to ask that very same question. Why the hell was she born this deformed? Why, in stead of beauty, was she given a power that could allow her to control passion in another capacity? And now, why the hell did Shen make her feel like she wasn't a whore? A wave came and lapped at her bare legs. Today, instead of wearing heavy clothes to hide her skin, she had made a bold move in wearing a pair of jean pedal pushers and a black tank top...it only made her feel more exposed.
Perhaps it was fate...as soon as Stacy moved to try and hide herself away, Shen's soft voice pierced through the morning. "I hope I am not the cause of your wish," Turning quickly, she let out a small sigh. "No..." She answered slowly but then as she looked deeper into the vast blankness of his eyes, her words poured out of her. "It ain' ya tha's the problem, Shen. I like ya...I like ya too much, tha's the problem." A blush was staining her neck below the scales, making Stacy feel even more exposed than she had ever been before.
"I don' know why or wha' ya do ta me, but it makes me wanna throw away tha' bad things tha' I've done. I wanna ferget every time a man has touched me an' I wanna ferget how much I charged him. I wanna ferget my childhood, an' how they all hated me 'cause I looked different. I...I wanna ferget pretty much everythin' except ya." That was a bold move and she knew it...but Stacy was still a hooker and she was still blunt as they came.
Turning away, she shook her head and tried to force a little laugh. "Okay, ya cen run away now." She joked...but inside, she knew that if he did, she'd probably kill herself.

Re: X-Ranch Confidental (open tags)Who: Shen With: Stacy X When: Mid-morning Where: The Lake
Shen percieved the change in Stacy's body language in ways that most people never could. There were subtle variations in temperature Shen percieved in the infrared spectrum. He stood in the water, up to his knees. The gray fabric of his pants was a color close to black from the water in some places. His gray tunic also showed the signs of water, and Shen shivered slightly from the cold. He turned from Stacy, not to be rude, but to be modest as he unbuttoned the top of his vest. Most people didn't want to see where the flesh of his neck met the metal which concealed and controlled his mutation. It was also for another reason, the scars. Shen hadn't shown them to anybody, and hand't looked at himself in the mirror with them. He knew they existed though, he had felt them with his finger tips.
The first scars were almost invisible, but at around his shoulders, the became more and more visible until they were a dominant feature of his body. Shen had only unbuttoned until the beginning of his chest was exposed to the morning air, but even there, scars could be seen. The memories of how he had aquired the scars in all of the places had faded as one torture session ran into the next. His fingers touched the little bit of exposed chest avaliable and he felt the scar tissue there. It was a scar from a burn, Shen remembered that much. Beyond that he didn't care to remember.
"It ain' ya tha's the problem, Shen. I like ya...I like ya too much, tha's the problem. I don' know why or wha' ya do ta me, but it makes me wanna throw away tha' bad things tha' I've done. I wanna ferget every time a man has touched me an' I wanna ferget how much I charged him. I wanna ferget my childhood, an' how they all hated me 'cause I looked different. I...I wanna ferget pretty much everythin' except ya."
Shen considered himself to be someone who could remain calm in the face of most things. The few that had talked to him had at times thought him detached, almost icy in his poise. What Stacy had just said envoked a reaction in Shen that would have made those who thought Shen a being of ice rethink their position. Shen turned and faced Stacy, showing her willingly where flesh met metal and where the scars from the years of torture began. He just looked at her calmly and moved forward until only his feet were covered by the lake water. Droplets of moisture fell from the legs of his trousers but Shen didn't care, he slowly extended his hand.
"You need not fear me, I will not harm you. It is time to give you wings, in a sense of the expression," Shen said. He realized that some of her clients might have said the same thing, but not the way he had said it, not with the emotions the ragged voice conveyed. Shen was slightly shorter than Stacy at the moment, but he maintained eye contact with her. He stood on the shore of the lake calmly, patiently, as if he had all the time in the world.
"Okay, ya cen run away now."
"And where would I run too?" Shen asked simply, half joking himself. He had nowhere to run and no reason for running.

Stacy tried not to watch as he turned from her and began to unbutton his shirt. For a split second she almost reached for her on top...but that was wrong...he wasn't taking off his shirt to be erotic or because he was going to throw down on her; he was taking off his shirt because it was wet and he shouldn't keep it against his skin. Still, that didn't stop Stacy from feeling embarassed that she had even thought about sex and him wanting to pay him. It made her skin crawl.
Standing up, she wiped the sand off her pants. Even as she tried to stay occupied to keep her gaze from his body, she found herself failing. As his tunic fell away she nearly gasped, his shoulders were covered with angry scars created in hatred and violence; she wanted to do something, anything to make them go away. But she knew better...she couldn't make them go away. She wasn't a healer...she was just a hooker.
Before Stacy had a chance to avert her gaze, Shen turned. Her face burned; she didn't want him to know that she was looking at him like that. She knew he didn't want her pity, and the truth was that she couldn't help it...she didn't feel bad because of him, she felt bad for him. She would glady take his scars if that were possible...unfortunately it was not, and Stacy was left playing the fool.
When he reached out to her, Stacy walked to him and took his hand in hers. "You need not fear me, I will not harm you. It is time to give you wings, in a sense of the expression," "Shen..." She said softly, squeezing his hand lightly. "I ain' afraid of ya...I'm afraid of what ya make me feel. I..." She let her words trail off as she thought about what she was going to say. Instead, she shook her head. "I'm jus' bein' stupid, I'm sorry." She was positive he was going to head for the hills now...
"And where would I run to" "I dunno...there's gotta be somewhere." She said, smiling through the sorrow that she felt. Even though she wanted nothing more than to comfot him, she couldn't help herself. With her free hand she reached up and traced a long scar on his shoulder. Biting her lip, she looked into the deep blackness of his eyes. "I hate tha' they did this t' you." She said, her voice barely above a whisper.
They had passed the point of no return...

Shen heard her gasp and knew she had seen the scars. He bowed his head away slightly, embarassed. The scars all bore memories, though at times the memory from each individual scar faded, the memories of the collective scars remained. Shen exhaled softly. Even exhaling it was possible to see his ribs and that his skin was stretched thin over the bones. He had been at the point of starvation for many years and he just accepted his almost unnatural thinness. True he was healthier than he had been when he was still a prisoner of the Chinese government, but he would never fully recover from some of the damage they had done to him.
"These are...souvenirs of Chinese hospitality," Shen said, running one of his hands down the surface of his exposed chest. His finger tips traced one of the larger scars, left by what Shen did not remember. He was thankful he had blacked out during some of the torture sessions, that way he wouldn't be able to remember everything that had happened to his body. He had always been slight of build and the scars upon him made him seem even thinner, weaker, more prone to damage.
"I'm jus' bein' stupid, I'm sorry."
"Stupidity is nothing to be ashamed of, we all have our moments," Shen said. As Stacy took his hand, he turned his focus inward. He stood transfixed for a moment, in total silence. Then it began to happen slowly. Shen's body began to rise off of the ground and Stacy's slowly began to follow. The sand and the water was soon inches below them, only inches, but they were in the air. Shen remained calm and focused as he extended the field of his levitation, keeping Stacy perfectly balanced, manipuliting the gravitational fields around her so she could experience weightlessness. Shen had granted few levitation, but those who had levitated always remembered the experience.
"I dunno...there's gotta be somewhere. I hate tha' they did this t' you."
Shen felt Stacy touch him. He exhaled softly, almost a sigh. It wasn't quite though. He knew something was happening, he couldn't not know. However he remained calm, he had to in order to keep them afloat. Shen turned some of his focus outward and let himself see briefly. He saw some of the sorrow in Stacy's face and her compassion. He would have smiled sadly if he could, but that wasn't possible. He had no lips, no mouth, just a metal helmet that prevented Stacy from being consumed by a black hole. "I have nowhere to run, and nowhere to hide. Even if I tried to run, I have a sense I would end up running into you. As for the scars, they help keep me from forgetting what I came from," Shen said slowly. He just basked in the air for a moment, letting a soft breeze caress his bare shoulders.

It was so horrible to see him like this. It was difficult for him to show his body, he was unnaturally thin, much like Stacy was after eating next-to-nothing when she had left X-Ranch. It wasn't as obvious that she was sickly due to her mutation, it made her skin copper and tough...but that didn't mean her ribs couldn't be seen when she took her shirt off. He was unwell, like her...they more in common than just a few bad experiances in life.
"These are...souvenirs of Chinese hospitality," Stacy took a sobering breath and looked down. "I don' think I wanna visit there any time soon." She said, trying not to laugh and cry at the same time. Her emotions were running rampant through her; she was happy, sad, bitterly angry and proud all at the same moment. He had lived through the torture, he was stronger than anyone else she knew...but why should he have to prove himself like that? He didn't deserve it...nobody did.
What Stacy deserved was a long beating for her insensitivity, but Shen didn't seem to think that way. "Stupidity is nothing to be ashamed of, we all have our moments," "I got more than most..." She quipped, intending to try and lighten the mood again. And speaking of lightening, Stacy felt her body start to rise from the groud and she couldn't stop her stomach from clenching. Grabbing his hands, she held on for dear life.
He spoke slowly, almost distracting Stacy from her fear of flight. "I have nowhere to run, and nowhere to hide. Even if I tried to run, I have a sense I would end up running into you. As for the scars, they help keep me from forgetting what I came from," "Shen, ya ever wondered my snakes can't fly?" She asked, her voice shaking. It wasn't that she didn't trust him...she just didn't trust herself. "It's because we all know tha' when ya go up this high, ya gotta come back down." Still, she was going to experiance this with him...even if it killed her (and it very well might).
Her dark hair blew slightly as they moved, the gentle motion of the air relaxing her body. "Yer right...even if ya did run away, summat keeps bringin' us back together." She shrugged, still holding onto him tightly. "I don' know who it is, but they must know summat tha' we don'."

"I don' think I wanna visit there any time soon."
"Just because I was poorly treated by my own people does not mean that I do not want to return. There are places of great beauty in my home country. Even though I know I may never return in this life time, that does not prevent me from wishing that someday I will be able to see my home again. I hope to be able to return to Lhasa, near where I was born," Shen said. Even though he had spent a large amount of time in the prison camp near Mongolia, he did have some memories of his life before the prison. He had seen very little of his home country, but he hoped that he would be able to see it before his death. With the current government in power, he was a marked man. Every however, China became slightly more progressive, meaning that before he died, it might be possible for him to return without the death sentence. He hoped that he would be able to see some of the sacred sights and be able to see with eyes unclouded by the memories of his pain.
"I got more than most..."
"Do not be so sure of that," Shen voiced, there was a slight smirk in his voice. His first few months in America had been incredibly awkward and he had made more than his share of mistakes. He chuckled as he remembered getting lost in the mansion although he had been provided with a map. His physical awkwardness also hadn't contributed to him making the fatest transition into a "normal" life at the mansion, if anything at the mansion could be qualified as normal. Shen doubted that it could be though.
"Shen, ya ever wondered my snakes can't fly?"
"Not really," Shen stated simply. This was hardly flight to Shen. He was holding them steady only a foot off the ground. He knew people that could jump higher than he was levitating them. However Shen sensed her unease and he lowered them slightly by decreasing the effects of the gravitational field. The descent was calm thing, peaceful. The licked around Shen's toes and he sighed a gentle sigh of pleasure. Shen knew that Stacy might be frightened, but he Shen also knew that for the moment, both he and Stacy were free from the world, now six inches above it's surface.
"It's because we all know tha' when ya go up this high, ya gotta come back down."
"If you wish, I will put you down," Shen said calmly. The mask which was his face could not portray the kind emotions that were carried in his voice. The mask remained as it always did, expressionless. Shen would wait for Stacy's reply before he did anything else. She might wish to continue to descend and touch the earth, or she might wish to remain in the air for a couple of more moments. Shen didn't know. He just basked in the cool breeze from the lake and in the sounds of the late morning. It was peaceful and Shen had long waited for a morning like this.
"I don' know who it is, but they must know summat tha' we don'."
"If I knew who it was, rest assured, I would tell you," Shen said softly. He felt Stacy relax slightly. He began to loosen his grip of her hand so she could experience the sensation of weightlessness alone. The shared experience of weightlessness was amazing, but when Shen had been weightless by himself as he often was in his meditations, Shen had been closer to Nirvana than he had thought possible at times. Perhaps it was his thinking on how close he was to Nirvana that prevented him from attaining enlightenment.

Stacy was a little awed that Shen would even think about going back to China after the way they treated him. She could see the scars, she could feel the damage; yet, there he was, telling her he wanted to someday see his homeland. "Just because I was poorly treated by my own people does not mean that I do not want to return. There are places of great beauty in my home country. Even though I know I may never return in this life time, that does not prevent me from wishing that someday I will be able to see my home again. I hope to be able to return to Lhasa, near where I was born," Nodding, she wondered what it would like to have such a bond to a place. "I don' think I ever wanna go back ta where I was born....there ain' any beauty where I grew up."
Now that she thought about it, she didn't have any good memories of growing up. Wait...no...that was a lie; her best memory of growing up was leaving her foster home and the hospitals and heading out on her own. She had been so confident that day...and yet so shy and frightened. A week later she had been so ill that she almost died; walking around barefoot in a sewer in the middle of winter tended to do that to a person. A week after that a man had paid 3000 dollars for her virginity.
No, there was nothing left for her in Louisiana.
Shen seemed very sensitive to the fact that Stacy was scared out of her mind. "If you wish, I will put you down," Something told Stacy she had to brave this up; she was Stacy X, fearless hooker. "Naw, I'm gunna be okay...I trust ya with my life." She said, putting the power in his hands. If he dropped her, she'd go into the lake, most likely; there was the potential that she'd survive.
"If I knew who it was, rest assured, I would tell you," Stacy had no doubt of that. It was some unknown force drawing them together, not anything that Stacy could ever grasp or explain. Sort of like levitating like this; her body had relaxed a bit, making it easier for her to enjoy the beauty of nature and the beauty of the world. Smiling lightly, she looked over at him, "I think I know why ya do this all the time, now." Her voice was soft and lilting, she was obviously joking...but there was something deeper, a respect for his power.
Sighing, she looked down at the placid lake and smiled. "So, do ya take lotsa girls up here or am I jus' special." Stacy smirked widely.
OOC: Oh yes, the fun of jet lag. You think you've bested it but, no! It always comes back to bite ya in the ass.
Re: X-Ranch Confidental (open tags)Who: Shen With: Stacy X Where: The Lake When: Late-Morning
Shen saw the puzzlement in Stacy's face at his comment about his return to his home country. It was not something many people chose to understand. Stacy also might not have not the same connection with her place of origin. Based off of her accent, Shen was going to guess that she had come from somewhere in the South, but it was not something about which he was going to ask. Some people were not willing to talk about what had happened to them when they were younger.
"My attachement to my home is not something that even I understand at times. It is part of who I am though, Lhasa is a beautiful place. One day, perhaps, I will show you where I come from," Shen said. He didn't know that what he had offered Stacy until he had heard the words come out from where his mouth should be. If he could have flushed, he would have. His face didn't, but his neck did slightly. Without the covering of his tunic, he would be showing some more emotions which he could not easily conceal.
"Naw, I'm gunna be okay...I trust ya with my life."
"And I trust you with the light I have left," Shen said softly. The light which he referred to was his hopes, his dreams, the parts of himself which were not attached to Buddhism or Taoism. Shen was 90% sage, 9% mystic, but 1% dreamer. He let most people see only the sage or mystic aspects of himself. Stacy however had seen some of his dreamer like aspects and she had not fled. Thus Shen knew that she could be trusted with them. Most of the dreams had collapsed upon themselves when the black hole had emerged, but some remained. Stacy was trusted with those that remained, and Shen hoped she understood what he meant when he had said that.
"I think I know why ya do this all the time, now."
"Believe it or not, this also helps to reduce cramping when holding certain medative postures for prolonged periods," Shen half joked and half confessed. Anyone who had held lotus position for any amount of time knew how uncomfortable it could get. The levitation helped to reduce the uncomfort to some extent, however it was by no means a cure all for the aches. Shen had a few secrets that allowed him to be as devout a Buddhist as he was, and the ability to levitate was one of them.
"So, do ya take lotsa girls up here or am I jus' special."
"You're just special," Shen said, raising both of them slightly, just letting himself be moved slightly in the gentle breeze. Very few had been taken into the air, and Stacy was one of the first, if not the first female who had experienced the levitation with Shen.

Re: X-Ranch Confidental (open tags)Who: Stacy X

Stacy was fascinated by everything he was sharing with her. This was...freedom. It was like so unlike anything she had ever experianced before. There was no drug, no sexual encounter, no food, no drink, nothing that could take her as high as Shen had. To avoid the pun, she didn't say aloud that he was her natural high...but being with his was exhilirating and new. He made her feel special.
"My attachement to my home is not something that even I understand at times. It is part of who I am though, Lhasa is a beautiful place. One day, perhaps, I will show you where I come from," Stacy saw the blush creep over his neck and she smiled. Much like her, he must've found his tongue very loose. Stacy was offering herself in a way she'd never given herself to anyone before. She was offering the Stacy that was inside, the Stacy that was still a tender, loving person. "I'd like ta see where ya grew up...maybe someday I can show ya Ne' Orleans or summat. Ya might like it."
With all its rich heritage and tradition, she was sure he'd get a kick out of seeing the area. Stacy might even enjoy herself if Shen was there with her...she always seemed to enjoy herself when he was around. She hoped he liked her company too...at least they had trust, that was a start. "And I trust you with the light I have left," That certainly was something. Smiling softly, she nodded. "I'll make sure it stays safe...even if it kills me." She said softly.
Dreams were something Stacy held very dear. They had kept her alive in all the hard times she had suffered. If she hadn't had dreams of leaving X-Ranch and being free and being loved...she would've died. If she let them break her spirit, as Shen had told her before, she was nothing but a prostitute. But Stacy was no prostitute who threw caution to the wind and ended up with AIDS and 4 kids in an alley somewhere...no, she was a hooker who kept her heart locked away until the right one came along.'
Maybe she had found that. "Believe it or not, this also helps to reduce cramping when holding certain medative postures for prolonged periods," Snorting a laugh, Stacy shook her head. "Okay, I'll call ya tha' next time I'm on my period. Ya can come levitate tha' pain away." She couldn't help it; she was vulgar and he had set himself up for that one. Shaking her head, she just shrugged. "If yer in pain, I give pretty good massages. I cen relax yer muscles with my powers...sometime I'll show ya."
Even though she was strange and a little wierd, he must've found her endearing in some way, "You're just special," Stacy, for once, was rendered speechless. If she had been a regular girl with regular skin she would've been redder than a sunburned baby. It just wasn't pretty. Turning her gaze on him again, she smiled lightly. "Yer tha special one...there's so much ya can do. So much ya overcame. Yer very special ta me."

"I've actually been to New Orleans, though I didn't see much of it. When I was released to the United States, one of the first safe houses I lived in was near New Orleans. I didn't stay there long and I don't remember much, I was on pain killers at the time," Shen explained. The painkillers had been necessary at the time. Even though he was tortured less after his mutation emerged, he was still tortured. Some of the scars were still recent when Amnesty International had gotten him released and had managed to get him on a UN cargo plane to the United States. It wasn't a story that Shen felt like sharing at the moment, he would rather just bask in this natural feeling of ease, which he guessed might be similiar to a drug high.
"I'll make sure it stays safe...even if it kills me."
"I will do most everything in my power to keep you alive," Shen responded. Li had been responsible for Shen when they were younger as Li had was slightly more mature than Shen before they had been abducted. Shen wondered what his brother would think of him now that Shen had become almost a recluse and quite solemn. Shen had felt partly responsible for his brother's death. Shen's actions had led to Li's powers manifesting when they did, thus attracting the notice of the government. Shen would not let anything like that happen to Stacy, she was...dear to him.
"Okay, I'll call ya tha' next time I'm on my period. Ya can come levitate tha' pain away."
"I don't know if my power will relieve that sort of cramp as I've never experienced that kind of cramp personally," Shen said as calmly as possible. He could regulate the flushing some by altering his breathing patterns and manipulating his focus slightly. He showed no signs of being embarassed and he had delivered the statement in a deadpan voice. There was silence for a second before he started to chuckle slightly. He had a sense of humor, albeit an odd one.
"If yer in pain, I give pretty good massages. I cen relax yer muscles with my powers...sometime I'll show ya."
"I thank you for the offer, but pain is only a passing illusion that can be overcome, this is one of the lessons I managed to learn from the Chinese Prison Camps," Shen stated. He wasn't scorning her offer, he just didn't know what would happen if they had that sort of sensual contact. He didn't know what Stacy's powers were and he didn't know if his own power could expand. It had been kept in check by the mask in part, but his own emotions also had to be kept in check, as the black hole's intensity seemed to have limited connection to his emotions. Shen just didn't want to risk having the black hole expand and consume Stacy. If that happened, Shen didn't know what he would do.
"Yer tha special one...there's so much ya can do. So much ya overcame. Yer very special ta me."
Shen just remained silent after Stacy's comment, noticing her flush in the infrared spectrum. He too could feel himself beginning to flush. He silently reached for one of her hands with both of his. He brought it slowly to the "mouth" of his mask and placed her knuckles against the "mouth". It would have been a kiss to her hand, had Shen had lips. "You are the special one, you survivied in a world where most die within, but you still have that spark. You survivied people using you as nothing more than a tool, but you still have a soul," Shen said slowly, and as he did so, he removed her hand from the "mouth" of the mask.

What was most fascinating about Shen was that he was so worldly and cultured...very much unlike Stacy herself. He had lived and seen parts of the world that she only dreamed about. He'd even been to her home town. "I've actually been to New Orleans, though I didn't see much of it. When I was released to the United States, one of the first safe houses I lived in was near New Orleans. I didn't stay there long and I don't remember much, I was on pain killers at the time," Nodding, she sighed, "What I wouldn' give ta not remember Ne' Orleans...pain killers woulda been a welcome relief." She answered softly.
They had done a lot of things to her in the hospitals there. Poking, prodding, testing different drugs on her all the in the name of making her "illness" go away. It took them 2 years to realize that all they were doing was destroying a young girl. Stacy had picked herself up from there...at the time she thought she would die but she was here now, with Shen. Maybe this was her retribution. "I will do most everything in my power to keep you alive," "I'll do tha' same fer you...tha's why as soon as we can, we're gunna get those citizenship papers done." If nothing else, it would be peace of mind...
The peace of knowing that nothing could ever force him back to China was enough to help Stacy sleep at night. If he wasn't safe, she wasn't safe...because something told her if he fell into a problem, she'd go through hell and high water to help him out. It was just something she needed to do. Much like he was helping her overcome her own fears... "I don't know if my power will relieve that sort of cramp as I've never experienced that kind of cramp personally,"
He had laughed, that was better than she thought he was going to do. "No? Ya ain' never had a period?" She kidded, folding her arms. "Well consider yerself lucky then. Then again, I consider myself lucky tha' I get one every month. Hallelujah fer tha'." And though her voice took on a joking lilt, she was dead serious. She could count the seconds to her period and if she was a heartbeat late, that's when the vomiting started. Stacy had made herself sick over it more than once... That was a the life of a hooker.
He didn't need to know that know...and she had no idea why she said it either. Shen was helping her and she wanted to do something in return, not give him another reason to think her strange or unworthy. "I thank you for the offer, but pain is only a passing illusion that can be overcome, this is one of the lessons I managed to learn from the Chinese Prison Camps," Just like a man to say that, Stacy thought to herself. He obviously never had a period...or been raped raw by his sexual partner; he had the powers to put his fear away in the black hole in his mind. Stacy just wished to get past it. "Tha' don' mean I can't make ya feel good. You have done so much fer me...I wanna do summat fer you in return."
It was true, he meant a lot to her. Even after one day together she felt as if she had known him her whole life. Slowly he reached for her hand and brought it up to where a mouth should be. He was kissing her hand the way 18th century gentleman did sweet virginal damsels of court. Stacy couldn't stop her heart from pounding in her ears, "You are the special one, you survivied in a world where most die within, but you still have that spark. You survivied people using you as nothing more than a tool, but you still have a soul," A tear pricked in her eye as she spoke, "Ya really know how ta make a girl feel good, ya know tha'?" Her voice was slightly strained by the emotion she was feeling, but she managed a smile. "I really can' tell ya how much this means ta me. I..."
The emotion choked her and Stacy averted her gaze. "Aw shit, look a' me. I'm breakin' all up over nothin'." Swiping at her face, she looked back at him. "I'm sorry, this ain' like me at all." Looking down, she shook her head. "Naw, tha'sa lie. This is who I really am...I never told this ta nobody before but...I really do have feelin's an..." She swallowed heavily, "I can' help it. I don' wanna feel this way...I don' wanna be some whiney, cryin' gal...I jus' can' help it!" A tear splashed down her cheek and she angrily wiped it away. Why now? Why did her hormones have to go buggy in front of him?
It was a mystery. One that Stacy intended to solve.

"I'll do tha' same fer you...tha's why as soon as we can, we're gunna get those citizenship papers done."
Shen had almost forgotten about his fight to remain in the country at the moment. He sighed gently. The immigration system needed to be reworked, the standards and quotas they were using were heavily out of date. He remembered filling out his first card for United States customs, he had to have someone help him with it as at the time as Shen spoke very little English and read even less when he had first come to America. "I remember reading in the paper a few days ago an article about people who marry just to stay in the country, sometimes customs and immigration will interigate the couple to see if they really have tied the knot. If we were to get married, we would have to know a heck of a lot more about each other," Shen stated slowly. The proccess of immigration was a long one and Shen currently was up to date on most of his paper work, but for every form he handed in, the immigration service gave him two back.
"No? Ya ain' never had a period? Well consider yerself lucky then. Then again, I consider myself lucky tha' I get one every month. Hallelujah fer tha'."
Shen chuckled slightly at her comment. He knew that her former life style carried risks and that no method of birth control was 100% effective. When he had first come to America, he had been given the sex ed lectures by several persons. It was interesting getting a sex ed lecture when you're interpreter was possibly one of the biggest prudes on the planet, as Shen was convinced his had been. "I am willing to believe you, as I would be rather shocked if I found out that I was pregnant," Shen stated in a dead pan voice. He used all of his self control not to start laughing at that comment.
"Tha' don' mean I can't make ya feel good. You have done so much fer me...I wanna do summat fer you in return."
"You already have," Shen said, his neck flushing just slightly. She had been willing to take her time and talk with him. Stacy hadn't run away when she had seen his "face" or his scars. Stacy had stayed and talked with him. She had actually been able to listen to him, while some had taken flight because of the rasping quality of his voice. Stacy had stayed and talked with him and had brought Shen out of his limited isolation and brought out his hopes. This was a hell of a lot for Stacy to have done, and she had done it all almost effortlessly.
"I can' help it. I don' wanna feel this way...I don' wanna be some whiney, cryin' gal...I jus' can' help it!"
Shen had nothing to say in return to what he saw unfolding in front of him. There was nothing he could say. She needed this time to think for herself, Stacy needed to find her own answers, although Shen had a good guess as to why she was feeling this. Shen was probably one of the first people in a good long time who interacted wish Stacy on a human level, treated her normally. Stacy was one of the first who did so for Shen and because of it and because of something else, Shen felt drawn to Stacy. They were much the same person, both of them had been through hell, and now they had found someone else who they could connect to.
"As much as Buddhism stressess the opposite, I think at times we have no mastery over our emotions, we can't help what we feel and why we feel it," Shen said slowly. He knew this was the truth. As much as he tried at times to be void of all his feelings, he couldn't be. However, truth of the matter was, he didn't want to be free of his emotions.

Stacy was very serious about this immigration bussiness. First of all, American citizens were afforded a sense of security that aliens did not. Even though Shen had been brought to America by a rescue group there was no guarantee they could keep him here. Plus, there were stigmatisms against immigrants. It was just safer...and Stacy wanted him to be safe. "I remember reading in the paper a few days ago an article about people who marry just to stay in the country, sometimes customs and immigration will interigate the couple to see if they really have tied the knot. If we were to get married, we would have to know a heck of a lot more about each other,"
She remembered that she had offered to do that. It was a last-resort but for Chrissake, she'd do it. There were things that afforded her putting aside her personal problems to help someone out; this was one of them. "Yeh, the INS is a pain in the friggin' ass, huh? Even if we did...ya know...get married...yer right, tha INS would come knockin' on the door. But tha' don' scare me." That was one of the government branches she knew about. A lot of the X-Ranch girls had come to the INS because they had nowhere else to go. Hell, X-Ranch had their own special process if immigration to deal with. Most of the girls who had applied ended up staying by the really concrete laws regarding mothers of American soldier's children (instituted after the Vietnam War).
It was dirty, rotten and low...but it saved their lives. Too bad Shen was a man... "I am willing to believe you, as I would be rather shocked if I found out that I was pregnant," Had he been reading her thoughts? No...he was just replying to her smartass period comment. Laughing heartily, she nudged him on the shoulder. "Gettin' pregnant might've actually worked in yer favor this time. But don' worry, there was ways around tha' laws. Even if we hafta spend hours an' hours gettin' ta know each other fer some INS inspection of our lives...then I'd do it. 'Cause there ain' nothin' tha' I wouldn' do ta help you."
She really did want to help him, and even though he tried to tell her that she already had, she wouldn't believe it. What had she done that any normal person wouldn't? Listen, understand? That was what any person deserved...he did the same thing for her. He understood her pain and embraced her for who she was. "As much as Buddhism stressess the opposite, I think at times we have no mastery over our emotions, we can't help what we feel and why we feel it," Nodding, Stacy wiped away the last of her tears. "Babe, I think yer right about tha'. Emotion...it...it jus' takes me over sometimes. I'm sure other gals get tha' too, it jus' takes over."
Smirking, she let out a little laugh. "An' mosta' tha' time it's when we're on our period." There was some wisdom for him. He could quite Lao Tzu or whoever he wanted, but she was going to teach him the hooker way, the Stacy X method of life. If they could learn from each other and grow as people...that was Nirvana.

"Yeh, the INS is a pain in the friggin' ass, huh? Even if we did...ya know...get married...yer right, tha INS would come knockin' on the door. But tha' don' scare me."
"You have dealt with the INS?" Shen asked. He had little experience with the agency, he just did as he was asked by it. So far he had found the United States government in part to be a highly organized bureaucracy where you had to sign forms in triplicate for no reason. He was probably just being bitter though. Shen knew in part that he was fortunate that he had gotten as far as he had and that was more than some. If Amnesty International hadn't heard about his case, he might still be in the small cell near the Mongolian border.
"Well let us see if we can battle through the paper work first," Shen said. It wasn't that he was opposed to the idea of getting to know Stacy first, it was just that it would seem somewhat awkward to pop the question after knowing her less than a total of 24 hours. Also, Shen didn't have the cash flow necessary to buy a ring or pay for a wedding. Shen just sighed softly, there might be ways to get past the imigration services more easily, he just didn't know abou them yet. This process could drag out for years as far as Shen understood it, and sometimes the INS could be downright evil.
"Babe, I think yer right about tha'. Emotion...it...it jus' takes me over sometimes. I'm sure other gals get tha' too, it jus' takes over."
"I don't think being overwhelmed is an exclusively female condition. There have been times in my life in which I have been consumed by my emotions," Shen stated. There were only a few times in which Shen had been completely dominated by his emotions, but it had happened. One of the times the emotions had taken over had led to the black hole opening. A second time he had been overwhelmed by emotion was when he had been placed in the back of the cargo plane and flown out of northern China. It had been a day in which he had felt almost completely relieved. Anything could have been better than what he had just lived through. Shen knew that there was some limited relief in letting an emotion run its course once in a while as once the emotion had finished running its course, there was a form of peace to be had as the emotion no longer burned from within.
"An' mosta' tha' time it's when we're on our period."
"Someone wise once said, 'men often prefer to think with the lower of their two heads'," Shen stated. He was not put off by Stacy and something about her made him make the same sort of comments that she did. It was a relief from the stiff formality that he held himself to with everyone else. Sometimes the best jokes in life were the low jokes.

Stacy was glad they had lightened the mood slightly. At least now she didn't feel like she would cry at the drop of a hat. "You have dealt with the INS?" Or maybe she had spoken too soon. "Yeh," She said, a bitter edge coming through in her tone. "My...bes' friend...she wasn' from here, she was from Russia or Poland or summat. She had a real thick accent an' she ran away from an arranged marraige." It made Stacy's skin crawl to tell him her personal secrets...even though she was long cold in the grave.
Turning and looking toward the horizon, she sighed softly. "A lotta tha' X-Ranch girls got employed ta help them file fer their citizenship papers. Unfortunately, prostitution ain' a legal profession..." Her arms came up to fall loosely around her waist. "On paper X-Ranch is an' escort service. An' even tha', tha' INS gave em' shit, 'specially this gal." Still keeping her gaze averted, she shrugged. "She did all tha' papers an' everything but summat always went wrong...there was always some form missin' or some test she had ta take."
Biting her lip, she sighed. "In tha' end it didn't matter cause' she had AIDS." So much for lightening the mood. "She died before she became a naturalized citizen." It was hard, it was really hard. But like Shen said, "Well let us see if we can battle through the paper work first,", try the "right" way first. She forced a laugh and her hands fell to her sides again. "Aw, nevermind...jus' another sad story in tha life of Stacy X. Sorry ta' get heavy on ya again."
And she really was sorry. She didn't want to fill them with negative energy. But he was funny and she appreciated his humor. "I don't think being overwhelmed is an exclusively female condition. There have been times in my life in which I have been consumed by my emotions," Nodding, she smiled. "Yeh, it's a universal thing...jus' seems ta happen ta girls more than guys. Then again...the only time I' seen men cry is in bed." That was meant to be a joke...it really was. But she had made men cry in bed before...and not sniffling, post-coital tears, sobbing, choking...it was a compliment to her, really. But instead, it just made her feel even worse.
"Someone wise once said, 'men often prefer to think with the lower of their two heads'," For a moment, Stacy's eyes locked on his. Had he...oh...a burst of laughter ripped through her. "Shen...tha'..." She gasped between belly-bouncing laughs. "Tha's the first real piecea wisdom I understand from ya." Smiling, she shook her head. "I don' think tha' ya think with yer...yer joystick." She said motioning to his pants. "Ya had more than one oppertunity ta feel me up an' ya never did."
Leaning in, she kissed him gently where his cheek might've been if he had flesh. "Tha's why yer tha' best."

Re: X-Ranch Confidental (open tags)Who: Shen With: Stacy X When: Early Afternoon Where: The Lake
OOC: Sorry about the change of time, but as I will be going out of town tomorrow, I thought I might as well write Shen out of this thread of conversation. I will be back around July 14th and if you are still willing we can have Stacy and Shen resume their mad dance.
"My...bes' friend...she wasn' from here, she was from Russia or Poland or summat. She had a real thick accent an' she ran away from an arranged marraige."
"You don't have to tell me anymore if you don't want to," Shen said. He could sense the pain in Stacy's voice and knew that the memory was likely a somewhat painful one. The dead deserved respect, or at least that's how Shen viewed the dead. In China, for many years their had been a tradition of ancestor worship which was still carried on by some. This idea of reverience for the dead was one that was heavily ingrained into Shen and one that he could not shake. He would let Stacy make her own decisions regarding the deceased, but there were still some things about Li Shen knew he would not tell anyone.
"She did all tha' papers an' everything but summat always went wrong...there was always some form missin' or some test she had ta take."
"I know how that feels," Shen commented lightly. He decided to slowly put them back down on the earth, the strain of keeping them both airborne was begginning to get to him. As strong as the black hole was, even it had limits on how far it could bend reality. Shen sat down, legs bent under him. It was the same story with many other immigrants that he knew. The United States Immigration service was far from the most people friendly service he knew. Then again, they were working on quotas from over a century ago, so to say that the standards of immigration were outdated was an understatement would not be far from the truth.
"Aw, nevermind...jus' another sad story in tha life of Stacy X. Sorry ta' get heavy on ya again."
"You and I both have many sad stories, you have nothing to appologize for," Shen stated polietely. It was the truth. He hadn't heard much of her life though he knew it must have been difficult to say the least. She didn't know how far the Chinese government had gone in trying to force Shen's mutation to manifest. They both had endured things that lesser people would have died from. Any comment was likely to be related a memory before their time at the Xavier Institute.
"Yeh, it's a universal thing...jus' seems ta happen ta girls more than guys. Then again...the only time I' seen men cry is in bed."
Shen couldn't think of anything to say in response to that. He just tilted his head slightly. He wasn't even willing to guess why men cried after sex. He just didn't know. Shen had never had that sort of physical experience so he couldn't think of anything that would cause that sort of physical reaction. He just shrugged in a non-commental fashion. It was the best answer that he could come up with at the moment.
"I don' think tha' ya think with yer...yer joystick. Ya had more than one oppertunity ta feel me up an' ya never did."
It was Shen's turn to flush slightly as Stacy motioned towards his pants. He didn't think with that part of his body much. It was partly from his devotions as a Buddhist and partly because he was awkward when it came to making that sort of advance. "I wouldn't do something like that, it would be rude of me to do such a thing," Shen said. It was the truth. He had his own code of morals that he had to live by and any violation to that code would not be something he would be able to live with or forgive himself for.
"Tha's why yer tha' best."
The kiss was unexpected. At least Shen hadn't expected it. His neck was the sort of red that ment his face, had he had a face, would have been the color of a fire engine. He didn't say anything for a moment. He just stood up quickly and looked around for a moment. "Shih-shih," Shen said quickly. It was the Mandarin for thank you. He bowed from the waist and turned around. He walked quickly away so he could have a moment of peace and get a new shirt.

Where: The Lake
When: Early-Afternoon
OOC: Yep, I'm willing. Stacy is going to hang out in her room for a bit, get organized and things like that. Have a fun trip!
A few of the things that Stacy kept very secret were the details regarding her best (and only) friend at X-Ranch. She had kept Stacy strong in her worst hours; she had sat through Stacy's many depressive periods. She had been a strong person in Stacy's life and her death had really opened Stacy's eyes. She was why Stacy was here now. "You don't have to tell me anymore if you don't want to," Sighing, she just nodded. She knew he wasn't going to push her, it wasn't in his nature (as far as she could tell).
It was, however, in her nature to push. Stacy X was a pushy woman...but only on certain topics. One of those topics was his immigration papers. "I know how that feels," Nodding sadly, she felt her body starting to slowly descend. It was nice, not like falling or being dropped, but peaceful floating. She wasn't afraid...not with him. "You and I both have many sad stories, you have nothing to appologize for," He made her feel...safe.
And that was saying something monumental. Stacy X had never felt safe in her entire life. She was always waiting for the bottom to drop out. With Shen, she wasn't waiting for the worst to happen; he was special. She liked him. "I wouldn't do something like that, it would be rude of me to do such a thing," Laughing bitterly, she nodded. "Yer damn right," She joked, "Feelin' me up is 50 bucks worth."
He was already blushing from her kiss and Stacy couldn't help but smile. He was...cute. With her feet planted firmly on the ground and everything that needed to be said out in the open, he began to walk away. "Shih-shih," Shrugging as to indicate that she didn't understand, she smiled. "See ya later too." She answered. "I'm goin' ta my room t' do some settin' up." She called after him.
That way, he could find her later...that was, if he wanted to. Turning up toward the beaten path to the school, Stacy made her way up. What a day...and it wasn't even half over yet.
Background: Many, many years ago, Charles Francis Xavier established Xavier's School for the Gifted. Also, seeing other Mutants misusing and abusing their powers, he created the first generation of the X-Men.This original team was trained and lead by an old friend of his...Logan, aka Wolverine. Logan's co-leader was a young woman and student named Ororo Munroe, aka Storm. Once the team was trained and fielded on active missions, they took on the additional responsibility of teaching and helping new Mutants deal with their powers. On one horrible night, the X-Men were fielded to stop a particularly powerful Mutant and his 'gang'. The 'intelligence' received on this Mutant and his cohorts was sketchy and actually turned out to be a set-up to entrap the X-Men and take them captive. In the ensuing melee', 'things' happened and a number of the team were killed outright or severely injured. After making sure his remaining team-mates were going to be okay, Logan left. Xavier has not, to current time, explained his absence or even whether or not he survived.Current Time/Game Time: Almost seven years later, as Human/Mutant incidents are on the rise, Xavier once again sees a need for a Mutant 'police force'. He sees this new X-Men team as a force for good and a way to help peacefully integrate the rapidly emerging Mutant society with the established Human society. To this end, he has contacted Logan and asked him to 'come home' and train his 'new' team.
Logan has reluctantly agreed. Can shadows from their past be put aside for the good of the new X-Men? How will the surviving members of the original team react and what will they do as 'truths' are learned about that disastrous night?Note: We want the new X-Men to include younger versions of the old familiar characters such as Scott, Jean, Beast etc...as well as many of the OCC’s and other Canon characters that are available. Please ask the Staff BEFORE stating or establishing that your character was one of the old, now disbanded, original X-Men.
