MyWebpage.Netscape.com
20mb free, free remote linking and you can upload up to 1mb at a time. You’ll need to create an AOL screenname or use an existing one.
Compuserve ( courtesy of EyeofGenesis)
You can have up to seven screenames, so that's 140 MB of free (as long as you are a Compuserve member) image hosting. Unfortunately, you can't upload anything other than pictures. I really wish they'd allow me to upload music, but hey, with 140 MB of free space, who am I to complain?
% Another option of hosting services, would be your ISP. Whether it is Roadrunner or AOL, check with your Internet Service Provider to see if they have stored space availiable.
% When checking out image hosting sites, it's not an easy task. You'll need to research on their TOS, what upload types they allow/dont allow, their bandwidth limit (daily or monthly), # of accounts you can have legally, how big the actual account is, and if they allow remote linking or not.
% Credit To LvsRattlrs. If you have AOL as your ISP, then these are the steps to use AOL as your hosting grounds.
Go to keyword My FTP Space
Click on See My FTP Space
If you want to have folders and subfolders use the Create Directory button.
You may want to call the first directory (folder) ezboard and the 2nd photos. You can have more than one subdirectory in a directory. I suggest that you keep the names simple as they become part of the URL to your image. Double click on a directory name to open it , in order to add images to the folder.
To upload , click on Upload. In the next box, type in the name of your image and the type. Example personalphoto.gif. If you type personalphoto and no extension, you get the dreaded red X. Be sure Binary is selected and hit continue. Hit select file and use the next box to find where the image is stored on your computer. Then hit send.
I've found that you need to have everything ready and turn off IM's. If you have to spend a lot of time looking for things or get interupted, the system will hang up for several minutes. If this happens or you get interupted, close the pages down until you get back to the main FTP page and start over.
If you forget the extension or call it a gif when it's really a jpg, use the Utilities button to rename the file. You have to have selected the file you want to rename, before you hit Utilities
Your image url will be in this format http://members.aol.com/screenname/directory/subdirectory/imagename.extension
I usually go to my directory to find the exact url and copy it from the browser bar rather than trying to type it all. Your directory is at http://members.aol.com/screename/, just bookmark that.

I signed up on bizhosting lst night just to host our amoticons and they are NOT letting me hotlink. Just a FYI to everyone else.

Taddy.. When and if you use bizhosting, when you save any editing changes, go to the actual page of where your pictures are, and right-click on them to get the URL. It will not hotlink if you go through the File Manager. Ive been linking my icon and signature picture from there for about a month.
Posted: 2/24/03 1:16 am Re: All Free Image Hosting Sites ( 5 February )
here is a site who's only function is to host your sig and or avatars for free!!!! yes they are there expressely for hotlinking
read their rules carefully as they have size limitations and you can only use certain stuff there, no personel pixs allowed. pretty cool for the price. I plan on trying it soon.

Also, you can use your internet provider. I know for sure www.fuse.net lets you upload images if you use fuse as your internet. AOL does too. [www.aol.com]. Roadrunner might. Not sure though.

Ok for your question I will give an example. Say your image is 4 kb. You put it on an image host and direct link it. Each time it is shown on your boards 4 kb will be added to your bandwith rate. A daily transfer is how much bandwith your image/s can add up to.
Say your board had the image shown 200 times. Then 200x4kb= 800 kb telling you had used 800 kb of bandwith.
I'm not sure if that was too complicated or not....
Posted: 4/17/03 9:25 pm Re: All Free Image Hosting Sites ( 5 February )
that is correct. depending what server you choose, they may say that the X's will go away when your bandwidth meter/usage goes down for the time (if its for the daily bandwidth or monthly one).

Taking a look at your list and thought I would throw something in, I recieved this in my email:

Stage 1 - Notification of Intent - May 1st 12:00 AM
2003
Dear Valued Users,
We at Digikitten.com have been hosting your signatures
and avatars proudly for quite some time. We have
recently had a surge in real high bandwidth cause by a
group of many individuals that have caused our transfer to
expand to levels enough for a few servers.
We last week, after cleaning out over 170 MB's of
files and other weirdness. We had a user group uploader
protection put
on the custom uploader and then we had a group of
users use proxies and multiple names. Trying to get more
space or coming in stealth thinking we would not
notice.
This comes down to a very hard decision for me that
Digikitten.com Free avatar and signature hosting will be
terminated and all uploader use will be for internal
uploads with the digikitten forum boards and gallerys.
We will not let you out in the cold though. We will be
transferring your files over to a new server and will
send you a new URL you can use for your previous
uploads.
You can just make simple changes in your IMG tag and
have your signature and avatar. Please be minded
accounts with more then 512K or illegal charachters will be
deleted. So I would mange your uploads before that cut
off date, since no upload system will be available.
There is also a set limit on the server of 30 GBs of
trans and that should be enough for all the legit
uploaders to still enjoy the Digikitten service. If it goes
over 30 GBs the site will shut down automatically.
All Hotlinks from the Digikitten site will become
inactive after the switch over. We know that they're are
over a thousand great users. But you know the saying
about one apple. Well we had a few acres :?
You may if you need space for photos and more -
contact us at sales@digikitten.com we will be trying to
offer a reasonable service for this where you control your
own uploads via a ftp. The price most likely will be a
$10.00 annual fee and $4.95 per month. that will give
you enogh space, transfer, and growth for a small
website including your own email Especially good for
all our friends on the mommy boards or maybe a group of
your fellow forum users can get together and share the
package, whats a few bucks!
If you have any questions - Please feel free to drop
us email.
All users up to the date mentioned above will not be
left out in the cold. There is a good chance in the
future we will bring back this service for free...
You users that know Digikitten.com, know we will, if
we can.
Thank you very much and again we are sorry, but we
have no choice.

Free Pic Hosting - I had trouble with their software, it always crashed.
TruePath - I always thought this to be the best free host, but their logout and help links do not work, also their system is a bit of a pain as you have to do things one file at a time (except for uploading). Also, my friend has recently informed me that they will be terminating their free service.
BizHosting - I haven't used them.
Image Magician - Two weeks free, so it's only good as a temporary host.
Village Photos - I had some trouble with images not showing up, but that might just be me.
Check with your ISP (internet service provider) as their webspace may allow remote linking. For example, AOL and NTL allow it.
Posted: 6/3/03 10:00 am Re: Best?
umm...I'm not sure if it is just me but the village photos link (where I had all my pics housed) no longer works. I'm not sure if this is just for me or if it a common problem. If you have any information please mail me via ezinbox, thanks!

I just made a free photo albumn website at ivillage and I can upload as many pictures, banners or whatever, that I want. If you don't want other people to be able to look at it, you just don't publish it to the web.
To make your own website for photos, just go to www.ivillage.com and register <it is free> then go from there.
