Re: camera suggestions?
I would really like to see Holy Terror expanded upon. Not soon or anything, but there is just something about the subject matter that I dig (conspiracies, religion, and get to the point gore).
For the amount of $$$ put into that film and the result could be a textbook lesson.
Re: camera suggestions?
Funny we talked about this earlier today cause it looks like I am going to Hollywood for a week to do some shooting for an unrelated project in about a month. There's a good chance Augie and I might be able to work together a little bit even. CRAZY.
Deadguy - Augie told me you got in touch with him and apoligized. Thanks man. I forgive ya. Post some links to some cameras and I'll continue to help ya out. I'm about to get busy 'cause were shooting this weekend so if I'm not around for a few days that's why.
Re: camera suggestions?
the first 2 are ones that are being considered 6 months down the road. the last one is something in my price range but i think are in usd funds.
Re: camera suggestions?
Those are all good cameras but remember they're not 24p. You can't get real 24p without spending $3,000 US. Good camera choices though. The first link, for the PD150, is the best camera out of the three because it has 16x9 chips for better widescreen picture. They shot that movie Supersize me with it.
Maybe someone else has some experience with those camera's or has some suggestions.
Re: camera suggestions?
Augie - They're buying me the plane ticket next week. It's looking like we're planning on shooting on the third weekend in October. I'll let you know specific dates. I'd love to work with you. If you have the time and like the project you can edit it get credit and get some backend points. I'll keep in touch. If it doesn't work out, I'll be in Hollywood for a week and a half and I'd like to at least hang out with ya.
Re: camera suggestions?
getaugie was nice enough to tell me that his buddy had a panasonic dvx100 for 1300 dollars. that's a bargain for me, i'd really appriciate it if augie could get his friend to keep it on hold until i get the money. augie also recommended me renting equipment. there's this place called www.sawvideo.com and they specialize in renting great camera's. they go from 20 dollars to 75 dollars a day, you can also rent lights, boom mic's,lighting anything. they really seem like a reputable company. you just pay 75 dollars for their membership, get trained for the camera. do you recommend this at all? i'm in negotiations with a guy at www.inktip.com, he has written and interesting script.
If you ever see me getting beaten by the police, put down the video camera and come help me!

I doubt my friend will wait.
Re: camera suggestions?
Renting and borrowing cameras is a great idea. There is nothing worse than buying something that everyone recommends and finding out it doesn't suit your needs.
Re: camera suggestions?
Yeah if you don't have the money to buy a good camera renting one is better than shooting with a cheap camera. Just plan your shoot out really well.
Another route would be to find a cameraman or DP who already has the equiptment and get him interested in your script. If it's a good project he might even do it for free. If not there a lot of people out there trying to pay off the expensive camera's they just bought and might work for 100-200 a day.
Re: camera suggestions?
well the script i'm buying is 14 pages long, and is about a women that overdoses on pills and can't comtemplate nightmares from reality. i may have some other things to add to the story. how could i someone to do cheap realistic looking creature effects? like i want one that has a gray face no eyes nose and for a mouth would be a big giant hole with razor sharp teeth in the circles, and the other would be a male that can split open his head, has big teeth and a long tongue. i'd also like to add some bizarre elements like a torso on in a lil deli, where his torso is on the countertop and, his intestines hanging and his legs at the bottom of the floor in front of her. also i'd like to maybe add some person taped to the ceiling with his wrists slashed and maggots falling out of his mouth constantly. any suggestions? augie said for simple blood is red coloring, thick soy sauce, i may use maple syrup, with karo syrup and some blue. you got to have some deadguy insanity.
there's this place actottawa and oyu can get volunteer actors maybe a volunteer crew. it's going to be very low budget film around a grand to 3 grand tops. he morbid would you be willing to come to canada? i can pay you about 300 dollars for your time, i've already got this one guy from the states that will do a sountrack for me for around 250 dollars. not bad.

Re: camera suggestions?
How long is it? Are you making a short movie or a feature? 14 pages if formatted properly is 14 minutes. If it's not formated properly then I would not buy the script. If a screen writer can't write a properly formatted script he's not a screen writer and shouldn't get paid.
Send it to me and I'll read it, tell you what I think. joshtownsend@gmail.com
Is it an actual script or a treatment?
Man if you can get a DVX for $1300 US you should get a loan or sell some drugs or something and buy it ASAP.
